Hi Jan..I felt that for almost 5 weeks postop...it was actually quite painful for me and my surgeon told me that it was just the way he stitch the port into the muscle...it did go away, but it did feel like forever!!! I was so blessed at church today...all of the youth shared about what God was doing in their lives...I had a new revelation!!! Love is patient...right??? As followers of Jesus, we are called to lead a life of love...we are supposed to be being transformed to be more like Him and again...He is love....I am struggling SO much w/patience in my life..I have had my first fill and still feel NO restriction (not uncommon), but I so desperately wanted to be thinner for the summer so I wouldn't be embarrassed in shorts....I have even teetered on the verge of despair that my band doesn't work and this won't work for me... Then this morning I realized....so simple, yet profound for me, love is patient....I want and desire to be filled God and His love...and that love is patient!!! I also want to encourage each of you that may be (or maybe not??) struggling w/wanting to be further along in this process....be patient!!! God is doing a good work in each of us and promises to complete it if we let Him....Thank you Jesus...please fill each of us w/your love and patience!!!! Erika

My doc said whenever I felt up to it..I waited 6 days...I was definitely a little sore...it was more of a favor to my husband :cursing:

Thank you for sharing!! I am so hopeful that I will be at that place soon. My 1st fill didn't do much..my second is scheduled in 2 weeks!! I am SO encouraged by your story...best wishes to you :crying:

How are you feeling today Brenda?? Miss Vicki- How many fills did it take for you to feel restriction?? I had my first fill this Monday and I feel nothing...I am trying to eat the 3-4oz protein and then be done, but I am still SO hungry.. I am going to call my dr today and see how soon I can get my second fill!!! Blessings to you both!! Erika

Yeah for second fills...keep us updated mamakat!! I can't tell a difference w/my first filll....It is definitely still wide open!! I will call my Dr tomorrow and see how long I have to wait for my second...too bad my Dr. is 4 hours away!!!!

I had my 1st fill on Monday...it was a little tough..took about 12 pokes..I got about 3.5ccs in my 10cc band..I don't really feel any restriction yet..I will see how soon until I can get another.. I haven't loss more weight, thankfully I haven't gained any either.. Do you notice a difference yet w/the second fill mamakat????

I had that burning feeling, it was quite intense, for exactly a month postop..my Dr told me it was everything healing..now I am 5 1/2 weeks postop and have NO pain!!

I had pretty sharp pain from my port site all the way to my belly button. It lasted exactly one month and then finally went away.. it was really sharp and burning, esp when sitting up (like driving) and yes driving hurt for that entire month too... Now I have zero pain and am SO grateful...I called my Dr many times throughout that first month thinking something was wrong and he kept telling me that everyone heals differently and that it was my port pulling on the muscles he had sutured it to.... Hope this helps....I know a lot of people has posted that they don't feel 100% for about a month or so...I would agree w/that.. Take it one day at a time..it will be worth it!! Good luck! Erika

I was in exactly the same boat...I confess...I gained the 10 lbs... But, my Dr. weighed me fully clothed...so I wore jeans, sweatshirt and my heaviest shoes..so my body actually gained 5 and my clothes added 5 lbs....so my BMI was exactly 40 w/my clothes...and I got approved!!!!

This post makes me feel SO much better!!! I am almost 5 weeks out and get my 1st fill on May 12th and I am SO hungry!! I am on a regular diet, but 2-3oz protein and then a little fruit or veggies doesn't do much for me...I am really trying to watch portion sizes and make good choices. Thankfully I have only regained .8 of a pound... Has anyone heard of someone getting restrictions w/the 1st fill??? It seems like most take at least two... Hang in there everyone!!!!!! P.S. When my DH and kids went to DairyQueen this afternoon I didn't get anything!!

Hi..I have two Grenfield vena cava filters put in..I had a huge DVT w/over 20 pulmonary emboli..turns out, like Brian said, I have a defect on my Factor V Leiden...I believe my filters saved my life...that surgery was no big deal...did I mention I was 5+ months pregnant at the time?? Good luck to you!!!!!!!

Hey mamakat..I am so glad it went so well for you...my surgeon is SO conservative and doesn't do fills until 6weeks postop..so May 12th is my day..I started on solids today!!! Eggs w/veggies and cheese never tasted so good!! I feel I have a little restriction w/o a fill...it takes less than it used to to feel satisified (but then again I haven't eaten solids in almost a month)... I had a busy labor pt today...Honestly, I am still sore between my port site and belly button...moving isn't painful..just when I flex at the hip and lean forward..like sitting up and driving..rolling over in bed..I pulls and it hurts...like a painful pulling/burning sensation..I feel it many time throughout the day...my doc says some people have this.. I am wondering how much longer...do you gals have anything like this??? Mama..in a couple of years I want to work on my NP too!!! I hope all is well April 1st gals...hugs to you all!!!! We are getting there!!!!!

I have been on full liquids since being banded..it's been tough..esp. since I have a young family that I am preparing dinner for...but God is good and has been giving me daily strength...keep following what your doctor says and you will do fine!!! Vicki- that is one of my favorite verses too!! I was reading it the other day....we need to seek Him w/our whole heart...allow Him to meet our needs, not food...trust and obey, there is no other way!!! May God give us all peace and joy as we seek to be obediant to His perfect will....Thank you Lord for giving us this tool so we can be free!!! Erika

Hi Miss Vicki...thank you. I am doing better, only 5 more days until solids!!! I can hardly wait..I am tired of cottage cheese and yogurt.. It was almost suicide tonight, I made spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad for my husband and kids.. My insurance covered this so quickly for me and my Dr was able to get me in w/perfect timing..I know this is a gift from God to help me conquer this battle once and for all.... Today I read in Psalms..."Be still and know that I am God." I have read this SO many times before, but right now it really has new meaning to me...I look forward to hearing from you!! Erika

I just saw this thread!!! Hey you other April 1st bandsters!!! I too am hangin in there...15 lbs down today..not too bad.. I am on full liquids for another week...I confess I have had a small bite here or there of scram eggs or other really soft things..I am SO hungry, but thankfully satisfied w/very little..went back to work yesterday..I am a L&D RN...I hope you all keep posting here!!!! I have the same plan....I was banded a couple of weeks ago and am waiting to see what the bills look like after they pay their share..I pay 10% of the surgeon and 15% of the facility...I'll let you know how it turns out....

My tissue under each of my incisions feels quite firm...maybe knotty.. Do you still have port pain w/movement??? Mine is still quite severe w/movement..

Thanks Gen and "losing it"...Yes, God did in fact open the doors for this...my insurance paid for most of it, and it happened really quick... Good point about how Christians (myself included) have thought that obesity is different that other issues.... Honestly, I think I just have been cooped up in the house too long.. (my DD is almost 2 and it's hard to get her into the car alone)... It's tough for me to just "take it easy" to heal when I see so much around me that needs to be done...I like to be the helper..not the one that needs help.... Thanks again...you two are 100% correct...
