    Feeling Pretty Discouraged

jgandg, Things will be different when yu get that first fill, but the sweets will always go down toooo easy.. You need to get rid of them if you can't keep from over eating them. It is not an easy journey, but well worth the trip...just hang in there..

    Well I tried it

Vinesqueen is right...don't get a fill just because it is time..Wait until you feel you can eat alot more solid food then the 4 to 6 ounces that your pouch will hold.

3 weeks post op and starving

Karlie, as Photonut said, at 3 weeks post-op, the last thing you want to be doing is PBing... and having the band is only a tool. We have to be willing to make changes in our eating habits also. The best of luck to you.

Feel free to jump in here...

If you talk about your pouch, and you're not a kangaroo, you may be a bandster....

    Eating Too Much?

Skinnymini... The only thing I noticed on your daily menu is that it was lacking in protein. bagels, fries, and mini wheats are not normal items for a bandster day of food. It is the slow and long chewing of the protein that tells your brain that you are full. We also need to be aware of not oversuffing our pouches, and stretching it, which can cause stomach slipping up into the pouch. It helps to eat off of a small plate, such as a saucer, which will hold more than you should eat. This of course are just some of the things I have found that work for me...

    Symptoms of Band Slipping

Choppy, it sounds like you need a small un-fil. Being too tight Can cause long term side effects, encuding removal. You need to call and tell your doctor. ..JMO

    Need Opinions Quickly...

I have had 3 sets of 3 also. Each time it seems it was done differently. The meds are what you would think of as the 'date rape' drug to be. You wake up, and wonder why they haven't done anything yet. No memory of what happened at all. And no hang over feeling. The only problem I had was the effect of the cortizone only lasted a few weeks. Ended up having surgery anyway. Stenosis of L3/L4, which had to be opened up and pressure released. Hope it works for you.

    de-banded and feeling better!

Dr. Pleatman, have you had so many bands errode or slip? Do you normally replace those bands, or do the people chose to go without?

how often do you experience pain?

I have found, esp. in the mornings, that if I drink something hot first, I don't have that 'first bite' syndrome....

How many calories are you eating?

This is just for my body, but I have to keep my calories between 1,000/1.200 to lose... If I get more, I tend to stall.

Rx, do i crush all the pills?

I take 5 pills a day, crush them, mix with a spoonfull of applesauce each, and they go down fine.

    Confused!!!!

As for me...3 years ago my niece and I decided to check out WLS..(RNY).. Her insurance would pay for it, mine would not. She went ahead and had her's. She was in the hosp. for 3 weeks. The surgeon had nicked her panceas. then a couple of her sticthes didn't hold, in her old stomach, and acid was leaking. For the next 6 months she was in and out of the hosp. Needless to say, that made up my mind fast. No RNY for me. Yes, she lost 200 lbs in 15 months. I have lost 78lbs in 7 months with my Lapband. She still has problems with ulcers in her pouch, and has gained back 50 lbs. I can't say I will be able to lose more, but right now I have my 'sweet spot' and have had no problems, not even a PB. This was the right choice for me.
