    Feeling Pretty Discouraged

jgandg, Things will be different when yu get that first fill, but the sweets will always go down toooo easy.. You need to get rid of them if you can't keep from over eating them. It is not an easy journey, but well worth the trip...just hang in there..
  2. Bell

    Well I tried it

Vinesqueen is right...don't get a fill just because it is time..Wait until you feel you can eat alot more solid food then the 4 to 6 ounces that your pouch will hold.

3 weeks post op and starving

Karlie, as Photonut said, at 3 weeks post-op, the last thing you want to be doing is PBing... and having the band is only a tool. We have to be willing to make changes in our eating habits also. The best of luck to you.

Feel free to jump in here...

If you talk about your pouch, and you're not a kangaroo, you may be a bandster....

    Eating Too Much?

Skinnymini... The only thing I noticed on your daily menu is that it was lacking in protein. bagels, fries, and mini wheats are not normal items for a bandster day of food. It is the slow and long chewing of the protein that tells your brain that you are full. We also need to be aware of not oversuffing our pouches, and stretching it, which can cause stomach slipping up into the pouch. It helps to eat off of a small plate, such as a saucer, which will hold more than you should eat. This of course are just some of the things I have found that work for me...

    Symptoms of Band Slipping

Choppy, it sounds like you need a small un-fil. Being too tight Can cause long term side effects, encuding removal. You need to call and tell your doctor. ..JMO

    Need Opinions Quickly...

I have had 3 sets of 3 also. Each time it seems it was done differently. The meds are what you would think of as the 'date rape' drug to be. You wake up, and wonder why they haven't done anything yet. No memory of what happened at all. And no hang over feeling. The only problem I had was the effect of the cortizone only lasted a few weeks. Ended up having surgery anyway. Stenosis of L3/L4, which had to be opened up and pressure released. Hope it works for you.

    de-banded and feeling better!

Dr. Pleatman, have you had so many bands errode or slip? Do you normally replace those bands, or do the people chose to go without?

how often do you experience pain?

I have found, esp. in the mornings, that if I drink something hot first, I don't have that 'first bite' syndrome....

How many calories are you eating?

This is just for my body, but I have to keep my calories between 1,000/1.200 to lose... If I get more, I tend to stall.

Rx, do i crush all the pills?

I take 5 pills a day, crush them, mix with a spoonfull of applesauce each, and they go down fine.

    Confused!!!!

As for me...3 years ago my niece and I decided to check out WLS..(RNY).. Her insurance would pay for it, mine would not. She went ahead and had her's. She was in the hosp. for 3 weeks. The surgeon had nicked her panceas. then a couple of her sticthes didn't hold, in her old stomach, and acid was leaking. For the next 6 months she was in and out of the hosp. Needless to say, that made up my mind fast. No RNY for me. Yes, she lost 200 lbs in 15 months. I have lost 78lbs in 7 months with my Lapband. She still has problems with ulcers in her pouch, and has gained back 50 lbs. I can't say I will be able to lose more, but right now I have my 'sweet spot' and have had no problems, not even a PB. This was the right choice for me.
  14. halo!nazdar! a vítat Eva I love the city of Prauge. Can't wait to visit there again. It is the home of my DIL. I have flown serveral times since being banded, and have not had any problems. Just be sure to have enough Water to drink, and depending on how far out from surgery you are, take things with you that you know you can eat without any problems. Good luck with your surgery... Ahoj

    100 pounds in one year

Everyone is different. No one knows what will happen when you try to lose.. I am one of the older bandsters. I am unable to do much in the way of exercise, due to being over weight for so long. But, I have been one of the lucky ones. I have 4 1/2 months to go to my 1 yr anniversary, and I have about 23 lbs to lose to have 100 lbs off.

    Sliming?

Yep, that was sliming, alright... Now, it may have made it worse when you grabed the crystal light. Drinking while eating is a no-no...1) it can clean the pouch out and you will still be hungery, and 2) if you have eaten your solid protein, the CL will come straight back out the way it went in...you should wait at least an hour after eating to drink anything.

    Anyone else sick of food?

I have also found that I don't 'crave' any food. I will have a brief thought of a certain food, remember how it taste, and then it goes away. (I mainly have this happen as I pass the DQ and think of a Blizzard..) I also no longer have that "I feel like I am starving" feeling..and have to remind myself to eat at times. So far I have been able to eat whatever I decide I want, no PBing, but did slime on peanut butter, when I sallowed it to soon, so that I could answer the phone....Wrong thing to do....

    The Gone for Good Club

Ok, my name is Bell... I am almost 62 yrs old, married to my DH for 34 yrs, with 2 grown sons, and 4 of the most beautiful grandchildren in the world. (..frozen thin mints are the greatet...) I live in the Far NW, which most think of as North Wet. I have been banded for a few days past 7 months. I started at 300 lbs the week before surgery, which was on July 22, 05. As of today, I am at 223, which I have been stuck at for about 3 weeks. I have good restriction, at 3.8cc in my 4cc band. I have yet to PB, but have slimed 2/3 times, and always on peanut butter, but WILL NOT give it up!! My goal now is to lose these 23 lbs by my anniversary date in July, so I will have lost 100lbs, and would love to be in Onederland. Have not been there in about 25 yrs.

Steak at 8 days post op.

Yep, that 8 days 'post-op' got me too.... Something else I did eary was fry bacon very crisp, and chewed it like gum, then spit it out. Sure hit the spot!!
  20. I have found the easiest chicken to eat, is the Tyson chicken strips that are already cooked. They come in different favors and are very tender.

    I'm scared...my stomach hurts

I know that since being banded I tend to become 'gassy' more than I ever did before, which can cause some pretty powerfull cramps. Gas-X works wonders..

need help 2 months after banding

I also am tighter in the mornings, so always start with hot decaf coffee or hot tea with my chewable Viactiv.. then I can eat my oatmeal or poached egg with bacon... It does take time to learn our band.
  23. Welcme to Bandland, John. Are you eating solids yet? At less than a month out, I was only on mushies. Not sure how Dr. Curry has his people go back to eating. Are you throwing up the liquids? this can happen right after surgery if you drink to fast. That is the reason for having to sip, sip, sip.... Your stomach can be very swollen after surgery. Be sure to get your Protein drinks in, they help with the hunger. This is a great site for support or just venting if you need that...

    Amount per Meal

With 3.8cc in my 4cc band, I can eat about 4/5 oz at a meal....any more and my band speaks loud and clear....
