Thanks so much for the info!!! I guess I have never PB"D. I have taken too big of a bite of something and I start sliming right away. Feels like a rock is in my chest but that is it. It does go away in a few minutes and then I feel fine.

I was banded on 2-18-08 and flew from California to Belize (Central America) a month later and had NO problems.

I don't know if this will help but sometimes when my husband gets a great big bowl of ice cream and it looks good to me I just go to bed. When I wake up in the morning I am fine and so happy that I did not cheat. I have also had a yogurt when he is eating and that makes me feel better. I know a lot of our eating is just habit.

If would of had to do a six month diet I never would of made it. I did have to go on a liquid diet about two weeks before surgery. Also after surgery too. But that is not bad because you don't feel too good for awhile so the liquids after surgery was pretty easy for me. My insurance paid for my hospitalization but I had to pay $4,000 for the surgeon. The bad part is I am on Cobra and I am trying to get my own individual insurance and they will not insure me for 3 years on any individual plan because I had LB surgery.

I was banded on 2-18-08. Thank God I did not have to have much of a wait. I decided in late December I wanted to have the surgery and 8 weeks later I was done. Now I will say that for the first two weeks after the surgery I questioned my sanity in wanting to have this done. I was really sore and just did not feel good. After about the third week, I started getting back to normal and I am glad that I did it. I have never thrown up, which I am thankful for. I am not a happy person when I am fat. I am not hungry like I used to be and really like being told that I look great. And I feel great too!!

Went in today for my second fill. It had been eight weeks and I have lost 8 pounds!! Also something on my read out went from 102 to 90 so the doctor said I should be really happy my clothes will fill even bigger than an 8 pound loss, which they do. I was thrilled!!! But.....he would not give me a second fill!! I wanted one. I had 4cc's put in last time and he said that I am losing fine with it they way it is and I don't need a fill right now. He said to come in in 8 weeks and he that I will probably need one then. I came out of the office so happy with my 1 pound a week loss but so disappointed that I did not get a second fill. Has anybody been turned down for a fill like I was? What a bummer.:smile2:

Your question really made me think. No, I am not going hungry to lose weight. I am very satisfied with what and how much I am eating. I guess I just wanted to get to that "sweet spot" that everyone talks about and I thought fill #2 would get me closer. Actually, I was surprised that I had lost so much. It comes off so slow that I really did not know I had lost that much since my last fill. I want to get below 200 sooooo bad!! That has been a big goal for me to reach. When I get on the scale and it says 199 you will probably hear me cheering three states away.

Thank you Plain. I was thinking that maybe I should not get a fill if I did that but I bet it is because I take too big of a bite. I go in for a fill on Tuesday and I really want to get more restriction because I don't even know that I have the band, except for the times I take too big of a bite and start the sliming thing. It usually happens when I am eating something that I don't use silverware. I think cutting things up with silverware is probably a good thing since I cut it much smaller than I would tend to bite it.

Please give me an insight as to why the sliming? Will you always do it?

I had LB on 2-18 and had my first fill on 4-8. I don't feel any restriction except once in awhile when I eat meat if I don't take small bites I will feel a little restriction and start slimming. If I didn't do that I would not believe that I really had a LB. I am looking forward to my second fill next week because I need more restriction. I have not gained any weight since my fill but I have NOT lost any either. My question is - Why do we have the slimming issue after LB surgery? What does it mean? It is such a wierd feeling and my husband thinks I am nuts when I tell him about it. Only LB'ers understand.

My friend had gastric bypass and was told NO SODAS. She started drinking one now and then about 5 months after surgery and quickly became addicted to Pepsi and went to 6 cans a day. She recently had a camera put down her throat to check her "pouch" and it had stretched out to almost a normal size because of the soda. She had no one to blame but herself. I too was addicted to sodas and gave them up on 12-17-07. I was miserable for at least three months. Then I slowly stopped the craving. I now don't think about them at all and I will listen to my doctor who says NO SODAS. I want to lose weight and keep it off.

I was banded on 2-18-8 thru Blue Cross on my group insurance. I need to get my own insurance so I applied for individual insurance with Blue Cross since they already know my history. I was denied because I had Lap Band surgery!! They OK'd and paid for the surgery! He told me I have to wait 3 years until I can get individual insurance. I wish I would have known that!! Has anyone had this problem?

I had LB on 2-18 and I am drinking Crystal Light (water) all the time still. In fact my mom just commented the other day that she never sees me anymore without a glass in my hand. I am thirsty all the time. Thank goodness Crystal Light tastes great and I can have all I want!!

Is Dr Irani Ok thru your insurance? I have great insurance and his partner did my lap band with Dr Irani assisting and they were out of network for me. They said the surgery would be $5,000 but I am now over $7,000. If I had it to do over again I would find someone in my insurance network. I can't afford $5,000 and was sure unhappy to see that they are billing me more than they said. Are you going thru your insurance???

When I had my surgery on 2-18-08 I remember thinking "What have I done?" I was sore, did not sleep well and my port incision hurt. I just thought that I had made a big mistake. I now feel wonderful, I have lost 45 pounds and am sooooo glad I did this. Hang in there. The soreness will pass. Give yourself time. I was feeling so much better in a week except where my port was and that took about three weeks for me. I would do it again in a heartbeat and I never thought I would say that. Just rest and do what the doctor says to do. Good Luck!!

I was banded on 2-18-08 and have lost 40 pounds!!!! Had my first fill and really did not make a difference. Looking forward to my second fill on 6-3 to see if I feel a restriction. But I am VERY happy with my weight loss!!!! I have only 35 pounds left to lose so I am over half way there.

This is my first day I can eat after my first fill. I ate some protein ceral this morning, had a protein drink and just had a South Beach Diet Pizza for my lunch/dinner. My question is, is this what I should be eating after a fill or am I eating too much? I am full after this mini pizza and that will be it for the rest of the day except for a protein drink later on and my crystal light drinks. I am just not sure what to expect after a fill as far as what I can eat and how much. I am full and not hungry at all but I was suprised that I could eat the whole pizza although it did take me quite a while to eat it. Any input would be appreciated.

Please let me know if I am on the right track? I know that some of you bandits that have lost 50-60 or more pounds could give me a sample of you daily food intake. I have no one to learn from except this board.

I love Lean Cuisine's too. My doctor said I could not have them. Too much pasta etc. He told me that if I am going to have a frozen meal then I must buy South Beach Diet frozen meals. Has anyone asked their doctor about frozen meals?

I was banded on 2-18-08. I think my weight is coming off slowly. I lost 5 pounds in my 4 weeks of "bandster hell". I am hoping it will come off faster now.

The doctor told me to do the South Beach Diet. I am NOT A COOK, so I bought the frozen dinners. It has 340 calories and 37 g of carbs and that is my lunch/dinner. Is that OK???

Had my first fill today. I have a 10 cc band and he put in 5cc. Told me to stay on liquids for four days. I don't mind that because I am a little scared to eat now. He had me stand up and lean backwards to do the fill. Absolutely no pain but I got really light headed and thought I was going to faint. He had to set me down fast. I felt silly, I have never fainted before. I lost 5 pounds while I was in "bandster hell" so I was happy about that. I was even on vacation for a week during that time. Has anyone else felt light headed when they were getting a fill? I also got a headache right after the fill. I don't know if that was from the fill or not.

I can't see a "button" but I can sure feel it. If I am bending over it feels like it is catching on my ribs. And of course this first fill has it sore again. I wish he had put it down farther. I am on my third day of liquids from my first fill so I am "grumpy" too. LOL

My port is only a few inches from my underwire bra and it is uncomfortable. If you can, keep it where it is. I don't like where he put mine and I don't think it is going to get any better for me. The doctor even commented that he sure put my port up high. I always feel like my ribs are catching on it.
