My insurance comp. said NO to the band..........

I just got off the phone with my Health Benefits Advisor. She is looking into it, and I also got off the phone with my surgeon and he said he has tons of info on banding and info right directly from Inamed that he will send off to my insurance compnay. I am keeping the faith that my insurance company will see they are wrong in trying to decide whats best for me, rather than letting my doctor decide!! Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me please? I am going to visit family for the holiday and I am not going to let me stressing out over this ruin it. Happy Holidays!!
  4. BUT yes to bypass surgery. What do I do? Should I go ahead and get the bypass? Im scared of the bypass to be honest. My insurance company said the band was unfounded.....whatever the heck that means!! They did say I was approved for bypass, but that means I need to find a new surgeon (mine does band only) and get new referrals. Grrrrrr why cant anything be easy???? Any opinions or advice are needed and welcome.

Sherry, Where in MA are you? I think I recall you saying you were going to go through BIDMC......I think!! I was just curious where you were. I have seen lots of MA folks but nobody seems near me!

    Hello from Massachusetts

Hello to you from the South Shore!! I was going to go through the BIDMC for my band but I chose to go somewhere closer to me instead (Norwood Hospital). I am not banded yet but all I have left is my psych eval on Friday and then the doc thinks that I can get surgery in January. I am new here, but I can already tell you that this place is a WEALTH of information!!! It really makes me feel empowered to learn everything I need to know prior to being banded. ~ Michelle

How did you feel immediately after surgery?

So does everyone experience the shoulder pain? And am I understanding this right the pain in the shoulder is caused by gas?????? Doesnt sound right, I would assume the gas pains would be in the belly??

How did you feel immediately after surgery?

I keep telling my hubby that if I can give birth twice and get five tattoos, I can handle ANY kind of pain!!!!! :(
  11. Ok so here is my question..........What kind of pain, stiffness, irritation did you feel when coming home? I am mainly questioning the physical aspects of the "after surgery" feelings. I am curious as to whether or not the doc sends you home with any pain meds, is there a need for any? All meds have to be crushe dor liquid form at this point right? Is movement restricted? I know rest, sip, rest, sip is often given as get well words of encouragement, but will a week or so off from work be enough for me? I sit at a desk for the most part so there isnt any real strenuous activity done. It seems some people bounce back from the surgery quicker than others. Any input or advice is welcome. I will likely have surgery in January and I want to be fully prepared. I am hoping I dont need to take 2 weeks of vacation but I can if necessary!

    Newbie from MA

Hi! My name is Michelle and I am 32 years old. I have a great husband and 2 super boys (ages 7 and 9). I am not yet banded but according to the doc, I should be sometime in January! I have done the sleep study, the blood work, the nuritionist, and go for my psych eval next Friday. My doc doesnt expect any hassle from my insurance company (I have High BP and could stand to lose 100 pounds) so hopefully thats the way it will go. I am poking around here trying to learn as much as I can before this major life change! I have lots of questions but am finding my own answers to many just by reading all your posts!!!
