If You Knew Then What You Know Now...
mipookiebear replied to Em_Jay75's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is a lifestyle change. You will be eating high protein, low carbs & low fat the rest of your life. You will only keep this weight off if you continue to eat this way. It is not a magic pill but a tool to lose weight. -

7 months out is there still stalls
mipookiebear replied to Kierajay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can be a stall if you are getting the right amount of protein & water but not too many carbs plus the right amount of exercising. I am at just over 1 year & have been still losing & still having stalls. But I do log what I am eating & trying to stay under a 1000 calories. -

Did you continue to lose weight after 1 year post op?
mipookiebear replied to bostonmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am just over a year out & have been still losing a small amount each month. I think our bodies will stop when it is ready to stop. I just keep doing what I have been doing from the beginning. It is slow & steady. I also have seen other people who are still losing after the one year mark. -

WHY am I so COLD?
mipookiebear replied to mrs_ross26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no idea what causes it, but I went from cold to freezing all the time. My fat never kept me warm before the RNY surgery & the weight loss doesn't help. I've talked to several people that had WLS years ago & they still are cold. So I don't know if there is much hope of feeling warmer. I just bring a sweater or coat with me. -
To exercise or not exercise- Poll
mipookiebear replied to Tarno3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walk 45 minutes a day. I know that I didn't exercise that much before. I feel so much better & plan to do for the rest of my life. -

Good that you found a surgeon that answered your questions & July is in just 2 months. You will be glad that you are taking charge of your life.

Deciding between 2 Dr's in Mexico, then going BUT I'm considered a revision and now unsure whether I should have Sleeve or Bypass.
mipookiebear replied to Here_I_Go_Again's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I heard that acid reflux is bad with the sleeve, just like the lap band. I had GERD for over 22 years prior to RNY. I have not had any acid reflux since surgery 9/2016. -
I have been having a burning mouth when I brush my teeth. My dentist is sending me to a specialist. I have rashes in mouth, like it is burnt. I am low on vitamin A. I have had for about one month. I am almost 5 months post op. I have had this before surgery when I ate too much of something.

Scared all of the sudden
mipookiebear replied to Sadiebug's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had nights of fear before my RNY. I had so much trouble sleeping because I just didn't know the unknown. I am so glad that I did it for my health. I just had to make myself do it. -
Oddball here - dislike Premiere - Thoughts?
mipookiebear replied to tinytummy17's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Before my surgery I liked the vanilla & strawberry Premier Protein shakes, so I bought a bunch of it for after surgery. After my surgery, I couldn't stand the taste. So I had to returned it. I like flavorless GENEPRO & I add it to SF hot coco or herbal tea. -
I am 14 weeks post op & having the same problem. Hair is coming out in clumps. I am also taking my vitamins plus biotin. Hopefully it gets better.
-
We are to stay away from eating sugar. No more than 2 to 3 grams per serving.

My taste buds have changed
mipookiebear replied to jack morris 122716's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I liked all the Premier Protein shakes before surgery, but after surgery I can't stand the taste either. I use GENEPRO unflavored Protein Powder. It has 30 grams of protein. I like to mix with SF hot coco, herbal tea or broth. -
I am just past 3 months post op & my hair is coming out in clumps. Hopefully this gets better.
