    July

I have my final appt tomorrow with my PCP and then I get to submit paperwork for insurance approval. With any luck, I'll be a July sleever! I work for the school system so I really want to have it done while we're on summer break!!
  2. I just got an email from the nurse at my surgeon's office. My sleep study was negative (yay) but that means I don't have 2 co-morbidities and I'm literally 2.2 lbs shy of qualifying for surgery. TWO POINT TWO POUNDS!!!!!! I could just cry...... dang insurance companies! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Well, I'm done with my 6 months doctor approved whatever. I was just approved a few days ago for the surgery but I still have all these appointments to go to before we can schedule surgery. The date I want is tentative. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App So close!!! How exciting! I can't wait until I'm that close and ready to pick a date! 4. I have to see my pcp Monday to start my 6 mo supervised again because, even though I had it done, it has to be consecutive months and mine wasn't. I'm also scheduled for a sleep study on Feb 3. I'm considering have my tires balanced and rotated while I'm at it LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Well, by the time I get everything done and have my physician monitored weight loss appts as required by insurance, it'll be 6 months that I've had to wait. So I'm just muddling along with all my other stuff. Shooting for a summer surgery date! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. So I called and scheduled my psych evaluation the same day as my 4 hour "class" with the nutritionist and I was shocked to find out the psych would take 3 hours!! Apparently there's even a written test??? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre surgery classes.

Their whole office keeps telling us "it's a marathon, not a sprint".... so I'm trying not to be frustrated with the length of time everything takes........ I'm just so ready!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    SO MUCH MORE.....

I have a folder full of "stuff" to be done. I'm slowly checking things off and I scheduled my Jan. appt with my family doc.... I've got this! I guess it's part of the "its a marathon not a sprint" mentality that they're prepping us all for!

    SO MUCH MORE.....

That is an awesome outlook! I'm totally stealing this and doing it for myself too! On that note, I called and scheduled my Jan. appt with my doc today! I'm sure that's 100% true! Insurance truly does run the world!

    SO MUCH MORE.....

I guess what I'm frustrated with the most is that I have my 6 months and then some..... They just aren't CONSECUTIVE..... Totally bummed.

    Pre surgery classes.

I had to take an informational class and complete an extensive health questionnaire before my first consult. Now that I've had that, I am required to attend at least one but encouraged to go to more support group meetings, I have to take a 4 hour group class on the sleeve surgery, meet with a dietician one on one, and have a psych consult. My surgeon assures me that this is why his success rate is so great so I'm willing to do it all. I want to be successful more than any of this inconveniences me!
  12. I had my very first consult with my surgeon last week. I LOVED HIM! He probably spent an hour or better just chatting with me about the surgery, benefits, complications, expectations, etc. It was a wonderful visit! That being said.... there is SO MUCH MORE paperwork and red tape and hoops to jump through than I ever imagined. I am a nurse so I have an insight to how insurance rules the world, but I had no idea!! For example, my insurance requires me to show proof of being followed by my family doctor for 6 months for weight loss.... Ok, no problem, we've got that. The catch is, it has to be 6 consecutive months, which I don't have, because my doc would see me and then say check back in with me in 6-8 weeks.... UGH! So, not knowing then what I know now, I have to start back at square 1 with the family doc for 6 months before we can set up surgery.......................... I just keep telling myself it's going to be worth it but DANG INSURANCE COMPANIES!!!!

    Surgery without telling anyone?

Wow. So glad I found this post. I have obviously discussed this with my husband who is 100% supportive. My mom knows and supports but has voiced concerns. My biggest thing is I don't want to share this with everyone. What do you say when they ask?? Why are you off work? Why can't you do this or that? I don't want to lie and I don't want to say none of your business but I don't want to share either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Great, encouraging words! Thank you all so much! I'm very excited to get the call from my surgeon to schedule my consult. I did a lot of research on him before choosing which doc so I feel like I already know the answers to all the standard consult questions. I'm trying to come up with things to ask him at the first visit Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
