I have no idea how my surgeon decided on my goal weight. I am down 95 pounds and it has been a great journey. I never in a million years would have thought that I would ever be able to wear a small (pre surgery I was wearing X-Large shirts (sometimes 2X)and size 38 to 40 pants) and size 28 pants (soon I will have to start shopping in the boys section). There have been up times and down times. It is so hard to not eat what everyone else is eating (like is someone brings in cake or cookies or donuts to work) but I have determined that it is all mind over matter. I don't mind and it don't matter. The best thing I can say is don't judge your weight loss off of anyone else but yourself. Our weightloss journeys are just that. Ours. Everyone is different. Stay the course. Stay on program and if you fall off the wagon, dust yourself off and get yourself back on the wagon.

Anyone become invisible after surgery?
Redmaxx replied to cb750's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
WOW! That is me to a t. I am really hoping that it goes away in time. -
I am thinking that I need to be doing the app everyday. I was told that I should take a day off in between sessions. Is anyone else skipping a day between sessions?

Reversal of cholesterol, high bp, diabetes
Redmaxx replied to Joann454's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sure. Based off my BMI alone I was not eligible for WLS. The cholesterol, high BP, diabetes and sleep apnea is what put it over the top. I am currently down 95.3 pounds. I am almost 5 pounds under my surgeon's goal weight. -
How often so you weigh in?
Redmaxx replied to maggieO's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only weigh myself on Monday morning. Right after I had the surgery I was weighing myself daily and driving myself crazy. Now that I have reached the goal weight I may just do it every other week or once a month. -
Reversal of cholesterol, high bp, diabetes
Redmaxx replied to Joann454's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Off the BP meds, the cholesterol meds and went from 1500 mg Metformin with two types of insulin to 500 mg Metformin. I am hoping the Metformin will be a thing of the past when my next blood work is done. -
CONGRATULATIONS! My A1C still has me as a "pre-diabetic" but I am hoping that the next blood work will show that I am normal again.

The time pizza almost killed me!
Redmaxx replied to lessie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So wait, let me get this straight. The moral of the story is that pizza gives you atomic burps?????? LOL. Thanks for sharing your story with us. -
My surgeon recommended 6 month post op, but I am waiting until June (my 6 months was 20 April).

Well tonight is my first post op sleep study. My sleep doctor has said that the surgery corrected my obstructive apnea but now the data shows that it is central sleep apnea. So tonights sleep study will a) see if it is indeed central sleep apnea see if I need to go from a CPAP to an Autopap machine and c) to see if I can go from a full face mask to a nasal pillow or something similar. Don't get me wrong, I am so happy that the surgery took care of the obstructive apnea, I just wish (and hope) that the machine is interpreting the sleep data wrong and that I don't have central apnea.

YIKES! I am sorry that you have this but I am happy that they figured out what it was and have a plan of attack to clear it up. Good luck to you.

Did you "force" yourself to eat things post op that you never liked before?
Redmaxx replied to FatPharm's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am not a fish person or a vegetable person. I have not tried any of this stuff since my RNY surgery (almost 7 months ago). There is a reason that I never ate it before and I really am not interested in eating it now. I know that probably isn't the right thing to do/say but, it is how I feel. -

Veteran having Gastric sleeve at VA hospital
Redmaxx replied to Torintrina's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only know of one person who has been sleeved at the VA hospital (but it has been here in Michigan). I decided to have my RNY done in a private hospital (not the VA) just because I know how long it takes to get anything done at the VA. Good luck to you and thank you for your service. -
Well, what a horrible sleep study it was. First, they woke me up to make me put on a chin strap (man was that uncomfortable) and then the nasal pillow was hurting my nose (I think it may have been on too tight). So I ended up have them get me a full face mask to use for the rest of the study. They had to wake me up a few times so that I would sleep on my back. So after not a lot of sleep, I went home (the low tire pressure light came on in my car on the way home, second time this week) so I drove straight to Belle Tire. It was going to take them an hour and a half to get to my car so I walked home in the rain (about a mile), changed into dry clothes and then Belle Tire called and said they found a hole in the tire that couldn't be patched/plugged. I have the tire/wheel warranty on my car so I told them that and that I would be there to pick it up and take it to the Ford Dealer. So Belle Tire charged me $20.00 to find a hole in my tire. I drove it to the dealer and 2 hours later and a new tire later I got to drive home. When I got home I packed up my car and drove 4 1/2 hours to the top of the mitten to spend the night. I spent the night, sat in a two hour long meeting (to speak for 5 minutes) and then drive back 4 1/2 hours home to go to a fundraiser. So now I am waiting to get the results from the sleep study from the VA hospital to see if I need an AutoPAP or if I just need to keep my CPAP.

Fun: Surprises after weight loss
Redmaxx replied to Berry78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know my tailbone hurts when I sit too long. I have a coccyx cushion in my car. Lol -
So the wife and I went to Kohl's last night and I went over to the clearance rack in the men's department. I found a nice jacket on clearance (originally $100.00, on clearance for $20.00) but all they had was large and small. I know the large is too big so I tried on the small. It fit perfectly. All I can say is WOW! I went from an x-Large in October to a small in May. If I get too much more smaller I might have to start shopping in the boys section. LOL

Good luck. I hope everything is ok.

Want opinion on do I tell
Redmaxx replied to TammyLee66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask yourself this, would you want him to tell you if he was having this surgery? -
Yeah, I wouldn't screw around. I would go to the ER or maybe an urgent care.
