10 months post op and hit my 100#
Redmaxx replied to amartyn1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations! -
I think if I hear that one more time I am going to throat punch someone. I get so tired of hearing that. Is it just a common response to me answering the question of, "How did you lose so much weight?" or is it just because I feel like I don't want to deal with anyone or anything right now?
-
Do you know what you are going to get?
-
Keep a positive attitude. I know it is hard to wait but it will be worth the wait.
-
It was a movie from 1964 directed by and starring Vic Savage. The plot involves a slug-like monster terrorizing an American town after escaping from a crashed spaceship. Oh wait, sorry that was the Creeping Terror.

Dec 27 2016 my life started over
Redmaxx replied to mstrice's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! You look great. -
It was that way for me during the first few months. I still have a hard time looking at myself in the mirror now because I don't recognize the person looking back at me.
-
It gets better. Keep a positive attitude.

So my support group awards you with a pin for 100 pounds lost or 1 year since your surgery. Last night I received my pin for 100 pounds lost (two days short of 7 months). I will wear this with pride on my Veterans of Foreign Wars Uniform Hat to remind me of my journey.
-
Try to keep a positive attitude. 31 pounds in three months is over 10 pounds a month. Take a photo of yourself pre-op and put a photo of yourself now next to it. You should see a difference. Sometimes you lose inches and not weight. Keep positive and stay on track. Everyone's weight loss journey is their own. You will lose weight at your own rate. Don't judge your weight loss against anyone else.

I think we all had it. My wife was crying the day I had my surgery so between that being my very first surgery and my wife crying I was stressed. It is natural. You will be fine. Try to keep a positive attitude. That is the best thing you can do.

Has anyone gotten some new ink to celebrate and/or commemorate their WLS? Thinking of getting something but not sure what yet. Was thinking maybe a kangaroo (since I am a pouch). Please let me know if you did and if possible post a photo of it. Thanks.

That is very nice of you to do. I think sometimes that those of us who have had the surgery forget that it is hard on our love ones as well.

Diabetics getting WLS?
Redmaxx replied to CuriouslyCurious's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no issues with the healing process. -
Thank you. It has been a "fun" journey.
-
I agree. They are great.

Hi, I'm Mystique - new member/pre surgery
Redmaxx replied to Mystique24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the forum! It is very exciting news. I hope you get the 5 June surgery date. Keep as positive as you can and we will see you on the loser's bench before you know it. -
That is pretty jacked up. Maybe you need to call them and ask WTF? If they don't want to help maybe it is time to shop around to find another surgeon that would be willing to take you on.
-
Make sure the slippers have some sort of tread on them, you don't want smooth bottom slippers that may actually make you slip. That wouldn't be good at all. We all went through the nervousness of pre-op. Stay positive.
-
Do you have the pouch or the sleeve?
-
Just try to keep a positive attitude. You can do this. It will get worse before it gets better but I promise it will get so much better. Take it one day at a time, and remember to walk, walk and walk some more. We will see you on the loser's bench very soon.
-
Thank you. I am really excited to have gotten it.

Sorry, I haven't touched coffee since 1991. Too much coffee in the desert. All we had was warm/hot water to drink so we figured we might as well drink coffee. Too much.

Constipation and anal fissures
Redmaxx replied to mama3beartn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't have any issues until about 4 months post op (that is when I ended up in the ER for fecal impaction). Ever since then I have to strain a little to have a BM. I drink plenty of water. I don't think it effects everyone. -
I have never heard of that before. I know that I was banned from giving blood for awhile because I was in the desert (sand fleas carry infections) but now it is just because I lived in Europe in the 1990s (mad cow disease).
