Too much weight loss
Redmaxx replied to gastric_sleeve2016's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I agree, speak to your surgeon or your NUT. I fear this happening to me as well. I am 6 months post op and 1.4 pounds from my surgeon's goal. My wife says I am already too thin. -

I was that person as well. I am now almost 6 months post op. Thank you for posting this. -

"I am broken, but strong." I love that. I hope that things are going better for you. -
6 months post RNY, mixed feelings/results
Redmaxx replied to bostonmama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry that you are having issues. Are you still meeting with your surgeon and your NUT? I met with mine at 14 days, 30 days, 90 days and 6 months. My surgeon offers a support group that meets monthly and I haven't missed one since my surgery (first group was 5 days post op). You might want to see if someone from your support group would be willing to help mentor you. You may also want to talk to a therapist to help you. -

BCBS FEP approval experience please!
Redmaxx replied to Keenikwe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have BCBS FEP and had surgery last year. It was 6 months but luckily I was on the MOVE program at the VA and that satisfied the requirements. So I had surgery about 40 days after my surgeon submitted everything to the insurance co. -
Looking for recommendations

Might be cheaper for you to go to Mexico and have it done. -
My surgeon set my goal as 155 lbs. I want to be smaller than that but my wife said I shouldn't because I will look sickly.

What foods and ingredients can't you live without?
Redmaxx replied to LadySin's topic in Food and Nutrition
Hello. I use kidney beans, chili powder, onions, tomatoes, ground round (sometimes flat iron steak), tomato paste (I like thicker chili). -

For me it is mostly salads and chili. I do eat protein bars and Pure Protein drinks. -
What Are You Packing To Take To The Hospital?
Redmaxx replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had RNY in October of 16 and had very little pain (except getting out of the hospital bed) and I had to bring my own CPAP machine. They did a "safety check" on it and they had to set it up for me for some reason. -
How very true this is. LOL

RNY. I am now a kangaroo with a pouch.

I was a diabetic and my A1C was over 10 when I had surgery. It is 6.3 at almost 6 months post op.
-
Mine was 30 days after insurance approval. Which was 30 days after my surgeon called to schedule my RNY surgery.

Redmaxx replied to Justweight's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am almost 6 months post op and I still see myself as overweight. However if I see myself in the mirror I just stare because I don't recognize the person looking back at me. I know you want to lose weight as fast as you can (or faster) but you will lose at your own rate. You are doing great. Keep a positive attitude and don't sweat the little things. We are all in this together. Like family. -
I have the Garmin Vivosmart HR and I love it. I found it to be less expensive than the comparable Fitbit that has all the bells and whistles that I wanted. In the end it is up to you and whatever you like.

Wheat Bran, Prune Juice, Applesauce
Redmaxx replied to Sleevederella's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too have this issue. I am almost 22 weeks post op. I ended up in the ER the day after my birthday because I hadn't had a bowl movement for over a week. It hurt pretty bad. I also had urine retention (which my primary at the VA said is probably due to an enlarged prostrate and put me on meds). I still have to strain to have a bowel movement but I am having them every day since I started the BPH meds (for some reason the meds seem to help me have "normal" daily bowel movements). I go an see my surgeon for my 6 month in April and that will be the first thing on my list to tell him about. Good luck to you. -
No she doesn't. And thank you.

So I was about 4 months post op for the RNY and I ended up in the emergency room for Acute Urinary Retention, Male and Fecal Impaction. I hadn't had a bowel movement in 7 days and I was unable to pass urine for about 24 hours. Two enemas and a Foley later I was urine free and able to have a bowl movement. I went to my primary at the VA hospital because I ended up with a UTI and had a bladder scan. Seems I was not emptying my bladder when I urinated. They put me on medication for BPH. I am not sure if it is helping with the bladder emptying but it has helped with the bowl movements. Now I am sure that the VA is going to schedule me for testing to check out my prostrate. It sucks getting older.

Dental problems after RNY???
Redmaxx replied to carlychloe2's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am only 19 weeks post op RNY but I have never heard of this. I have never missed one of my support group meetings and have never heard of anyone with this issue. Although I will say the sleeves out number the pouches by about 10 to 1 at the support group.
