What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Redmaxx replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For me it was when I realized that the woman who gave birth to me had the same issues that I had before she dropped dead. I didn't want to end up dead at a relatively young age. -
That is how I feel about it as well.

Congratulations on being able to pay off the surgery.

Didn't notice my weight loss
Redmaxx replied to redgirl37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look great. I feel the same as you. I still feel bigger and when I see myself in a mirror I just stare because I don't recognize the person looking back at me. -
CONGRATULATIONS! and good luck. We will see you on the loser's bench very soon.

Spouse says to stop losing weight
Redmaxx replied to customademe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My wife has told me the same thing. I am .9 pounds away from my surgeon's goal weight (which still puts me at a BMI of 25). I would really like to lose more weight but my wife said that I would look sickly. -
To the weight loss surgery patient slider foods are the bane of good intentions and ignorance often causing dumping syndrome, weight loss plateaus, and eventually weight gain.
-
Most of my weight gain was due to medical conditions/medication. Don't get me wrong, when I feel bored I still want to snack/graze but I now go for a walk and it seems to take away the boredom/hunger.
-
I just eat and when I feel that I don't need anymore I stop. I have never felt full since the surgery.

I bought a coccyx cushion to help with the tailbone pain but it is really uncomfortable. Has anyone found one that is comfortable to sit on that helps with the soreness?

How did your significant other handle your weight loss?
Redmaxx replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My wife has been very supportive of my surgery. She does get a little frustrated (I think) because I won't let her do things for me. I would rather do them myself. It is nothing against her, but I have always been self reliant. -
Interesting. To me it is strange to weigh/measure your food. Thanks for the response.

OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all

They shaved me in the hospital right before surgery. Don't know why they did but they did. -
What is that one thing you look forward to so much, post op?
Redmaxx replied to Kris_Aloha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably a horrible thing to say but I waited for people to stop saying, "What a fat POS." It was worth the surgery to have people stop saying that. It is such a shame that we live in a society that puts down people due to their weight, social status, race, job or whatever. I am now proud of who I am and what I do. My self esteem has risen to an all time high and I find that I hold my head high. -
I ended up in the ER the day after my birthday with fecal impaction and urine retention (male). Two enemas and the doctor shoving his arm up to the elbow later I was able to go. I strain and try to have a BM every day. I am six months post op from my RNY surgery. I don't ever want to go through that again. Ever.

OK, let me be blunt. Build a bridge and get over it. Get back on track and try not to do it again.

Best pjs for the hospital?
Redmaxx replied to kad_82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was hard to wear anything other than underwear and the hospital gown with all the hoses and wires hooked up to me. I had brought a robe, sleep pants, t-shirts and slippers. All I was able to use was the slippers. I wasn't able to shower for two days while in the hospital. It really sucked. -

Congratulations! You look great. -
I had the Roux-En-Y on 20 October 2016 and I bounced right back. No pain meds, no complications, no issues (other than eating too fast or not chewing my food enough). I will be 6 months out on Thursday and I am currently at my surgeon's weight loss goal for me. Everyone is different, some bounce right back, some do not. Some lose the weight rapidly, some lose it slowly. Everyone's weight loss experience seems to be different.

Redmaxx replied to Puppy200101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the Sam's Club that I go to has chocolate, vanilla and banana cream. I haven't tried the banana cream yet but I do love the vanilla and the chocolate. -
Omg, this is actually happening!!

They look for "drama" as it makes better reality television.

I love that show (except the one with the brothers) it is like driving by an accident on the road. You have to slow down and watch.
