Blue Cross Federal Reasons to get Denied
Redmaxx replied to Angelcharm's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS FEP and I did gain weight during the 6 month supervised weight loss. However I did that at the VA for over a year before I even though about WLS. I had zero issues with BCBS FEP approving my WLS. -
WOW! Sorry to hear that. I know it is pretty bad right now but it does get better.

I used to take omeprazole for heart burn but I no longer have to take it. I never had to crush pills of take capsules apart. Sorry but I can't help. I would recommend asking your primary. -
Why does the Dr's staff suck everywhere?
Redmaxx replied to Jason In Houston's topic in Rants & Raves
That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I don't have issues like that with my surgeon's off in Michigan. They seem to move slower down there in Texas. -
I have turned into sleeping beauty...
Redmaxx replied to Tarno3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had that issue, but for me to sleep during the day means that I am sick. Hopefully it will pass for you soon. -

Looking great! -
Thank you. My self confidence has gone up since my RNY surgery in October. I probably wouldn't have done that when I was a "bigger" person.

So the wife and I went to Khol's the other night and I found the perfect suit to buy for my eldest daughter's wedding in November.

I had my first meeting with my surgeon on 31 August 2016. My surgery was 20 October 2016. Just under 2 months. Luckily I was in the Telemove program at the VA hospital for over a year so that counted as my 6 months supervised weight loss program. But I still needed to get all the other testing/evaluations done and have everything submitted a week before the surgery. I got lucky.

Psychological evolution done

YAY! That is fantastic. -
Congratulations! I am excited for you to join us on the loser's bench. My advice is to take it slow. Don't judge how you are doing by how others are doing. We all lose the weight at different rates. Try not to get frustrated. Don't weigh yourself every day. Try to stay on program and keep your eye on the prize (your weight loss goal). And remember, your WLS family is here to support you as you go through your journey.

HOLY CRAP! You look amazing!

I am pretty big into the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in the State of Michigan. That being said I know many people in the VFW across the State of Michigan. It is funny to go to conferences, meetings, etc and have people that you have known for years not recognize me since I have had my RNY surgery. I mean, I guess I understand because I find myself staring at my reflection in the mirror because I don't recognize that skinnier person looking at me.

I do believe that I have. I was just at the Fenton Post a couple of weeks ago for a fundraiser.

Body weight scale recommendations
Redmaxx replied to Dancing Fool's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was at Target a few months ago and I found a Weight Watchers digital blue tooth scale on clearance for less than 20 bucks. It does weight, BMI, muscle mass, and a few other things. I really like it. -
I am so sorry to hear that. WOW! I would go to your Congressperson and the news media.

So I use the VA for all my medical (I have BCBS FEP) just so that everything is in one place (all my records, scripts, etc.). I had to go and see my Primary Care Physician for my yearly checkup. Before you see the doctor you have to see the nurse who weighs you, takes your temp and blood pressure. While they are doing that they ask you a bunch of questions like, "Do you where sun screen when you go outside", "how much do you drink?" and now for the biggie, "Your BMI is 25.4, would you like to enroll in the VA telemove program to loose weight?" WTF? I went from a 35+ BMI less than 6 months ago to a BMI of just over 25 and you have the gall to ask me if I want to enroll in the telemove program? This from a nurse who probably has a BMI of 45 or so? My blood pressure shot through the roof and they had the gall to say, "Well your blood pressure is still too high." ce my surgery in October I have been at the VA about 4 or 5 times for different appointment and my blood pressure has been normal. Whenever I go see my primary it shoots up. OK, rant over.
