Common WLS Abbreviations
Redmaxx replied to Redmaxx's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks. I didn't think about doing that. -
I had Roux-En-Y (Bypass) surgery on 20 October 2016. As of today I have exceeded my surgeons weight loss goal. I am almost 100 pounds down. I am extremely happy with both my procedure and my surgeon. From what I was told, sleeves have a higher rate of regaining the weight than the pouches. Again, that is what I heard. My surgeon told me that the pouch was better for me to help with the diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and sleep apnea. So far it has helped with everything but the sleep apnea (I went from obstructive to central apnea) and as an extra it has helped with my depression.

I think that I look older and more haggard but everyone else seems to think I look a lot younger and good. I have also noticed some of the people in my support group look older and haggard. There is a 48 year old woman who I thought was in her late 50s. I guess it has to do with how big you were before the surgery. Just my $.02.

Who did NOT loose hair or much?
Redmaxx replied to Rita48's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Zero hair loss, no special anything. -
It gets better. Try to keep a positive attitude. 23 pounds is a lot in just 6 weeks. Give yourself some credit.

Always happens to me. I have just decided it is all mind over matter. I don't mind at it don't matter. To be honest I trust my scale more than I do the one at the doctors office. I take care of my scale and don't have different people on it 20 to 30 times a day.

I am excited for you. Just remember it isn't all sunshine and roses. It can get frustration. Try to keep your positive attitude and lean on your support network (including us) if you need to. Congratulations! And we will see you on the loser's bench very soon.

Thank you. Interesting, the other site gave me a BMR of 1518. -
Too much exercise is feeding my stall! Who Knew????
Redmaxx replied to BigUtahMan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't know if this is accurate or not but I found this BMR calculator online. My BMR according to this is: You have a BMR of 1519.259. http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/#result -
I hate to say it but I hope that you don't get to read those books. Hopefully after you have your surgery you will be too busy walking/exercising that you won't have the time.

I had never heard of such a thing until I read your post. Sounds like a pretty cool thing.

VERY FRUSTRATED WITH SURGEONS OFFICE
Redmaxx replied to ColleenErin1974's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear about this. I received a collection letter (from a collection company) stating that I owed money to the hospital. I was never billed by the hospital. I called the billing department and they looked up my account and somebody had coded it with a do not contact or send a bill so they referred it to the collection agency. They "fixed" the coding issue and recalled it from the collection agency. I have to have a security clearance for work and something being sent to a collection agency is a great way for me to lose the clearance. Good luck to you and I can't wait to hear what the manager has to say. -
You might have asked for a large. Once the weight loss starts it should be pretty rapid.

YAY! That is fantastic. Congratulations.

So I ended up ordering this: https://smile.amazon.com/Hydration-Adjustable-Neoprene-BPA-free-Marathon/dp/B01DK00JDO/ref=sr_1_15?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1493215587&sr=1-15&keywords=hydration+belts It was inexpensive so if I don't like it I am not out that much.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good hydration belt for running? There are so many of them on Amazon I am not really sure what to look for. Was looking at something like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Hydration-Adjustable-Neoprene-BPA-free-Marathon/dp/B01DK00JDO/ref=sr_1_15?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1493215587&sr=1-15&keywords=hydration+belts

CONGRATULATIONS! That is awesome. Good luck to you. -
So am I. But to be fair, I have never been "full" since my RNY surgery.

Well it wouldn't be worth the money without the headband and arm cuffs.
