My appetite came back when I was 2 months out. It's normal for the weight loss to be a little slow. Not everyone loses quickly. Sometimes to speed it up you need to add in a little more of something. Maybe more protein or more water or change up your exercise routine. Your body gets used to the same thing over time. Another thing is that you could be gaining muscle. I can eat more now that I'm a year out compared to when I was 3 months out or even 6 months out. The trick to that is making each meal more filling. I've had sushi two months out without a problem. Mainly sashimi. I've used soy sauce but just dabbed the sashimi in there once then bit it. After like two pieces I'm full. My nutritionist is okay with it but they just tell me to be careful eating any kind of sushi involving rice because of the carbs. Well that's what they said when I told them about it then. It's been a while since I really even bought any. I'm at the point where if I feel I really want it, I'll just make it myself... But I'm a bypass patient. Not really sure if there's a difference between when either patient can or can't eat it. I was allowed access to solids sooner because I kept everything down without a problem. Recovery for me wasn't difficult. I heal fast so it was more or less figuring out how to get in enough fluids and protein once I was able to eat solid food. The first few months I dropped about 30 or so lbs. I only dump if I eat something I'm not supposed to or if the meat is too dry or something is high in fat. No regrets. I regret nothing. I'm glad I chose the procedure I did. I've lost all of my excess body weight and made it to my goal. I'm well pass it actually. I chose Gastric Bypass. The recovery is different for everyone and once you choose the surgery that you feel is best for you, don't let the stalls discourage you. They will pass, there are ways to get through them. Just tell him that just because he has an opinion doesn't mean he should share it. No one knows your body better than you do and this surgery will save your life. Diabetes can be deadly. He's no doctor and although he's family and you may value his opinion, he's just not right. Dieting and exercise isn't always helpful. Only you know what's best for you, he doesn't. You know, I've been very confused about everything that has happened post-op. I'm 14 months out, well... Almost. The way I get treated by people now that I'm thinner is both good and bad.... But since I've become a romantic interest towards guys more so than I was before I had the surgery,(and none of these guys even know I've had the surgery which makes it amusing yet annoying to me) I always shy away from relationships because they either want to rush into it and I know from experience that that never works... or they just play games and they're like 30 and act like they're 18. I just turned 29 a week ago. I find relationships and love so revolting now because of how I'm being treated by guys now. The first guy I came across did want to rush and I always tried to tell him that he was, in fact rushing. He would get mad and he always tried to manipulate my feelings and guilt trip me into doing what he wanted me to do... Which never worked. He'd always get mad if I didn't answer his texts or calls--At 12 in the morning, when I'd be sleeping. I go to bed at like 6pm. Sometimes he would even call later at night... Then encourage me to call when I wanted whenever I wanted. I never took him up on his word til the other day and he yelled at me for it when he had no room to complain. Yesterday, after all this time he lied about being single and never told me he was engaged. I hope his wife-to-be knows he's a cheater... He had the nerve to act he was a romantic interest of mine when I never liked him and told him that repeatedly. I just wanted to be friends. He was the one asking me out on dates. I said no. He thought I got mad because he was engaged now. No, I got mad because he lied. I said from the start be honest when that's all I ever was to him. But... He's blocked on everything... Then there was the other guy that just wanted to play games. I caught him. I don't know what's so hard about telling the truth. I'm so done with relationships and trying to look for any. I'd rather just stay single if this is how people want to act now. I don't know if I'm even posting this on the right forum, I'm sorry and I'm sorry it's so long... The thing that helped me a lot when I was sore was my handy dandy heating pad. It also helps ease gas pains. With the water, it went down easier for me when I added flavoring to it. I eventually started to hate protein shakes so I don't even drink those. Best way to get them is from like Genepro or if you prefer... Just keep at it with the shakes. You can even make them yourself, if you're up to it. I did eat sugar free popsicles but got tired of them. However, don't be so hard on yourself. No question is a silly question 'round these parts. After all, you're just learning. The entire process is a learning experience and our bodies are all different and handle things in their own unique special ways.
