    popcorn when?

I successfully ate popcorn at 6 weeks post op. I just made sure to chew it really well.... And I ate it plain. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 184 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Wish me luck

You'll do great. I'm almost almost 11 weeks post op. I'm doing fine it's just hard to get in 60 oz of water. Most I got in was half of that. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 184 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Your brain after bariatric surgery

I get stalls, everyone stalls but they will pass. Never listen to your mind in an emotional state, it's not correct. It's just the stalls are frustrating and if you stay stalled for a while, it's very discouraging and thus you get scared or worried that that's all you're going to lose. It's kind of interesting how both you and your body can control where it should or want to be weight wise. For some it's different. Getting stalls just means your body is adjusting. If that's not it, ask your doctor about it and run through the list of possibilities. I didn't need to see the doctor when I stalled. I figured out on my own why I stalled. Anyway, as long as you're following the plan, everything should be fine. Pain... how long will it last ?

It took me two weeks. Everyone's healing process is different though. It may have taken me 2 weeks but it may be a little sooner or something for you. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 185 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Having problems eating

I have problems too but I think the problems I have with eating are my fault. Yesterday I had chicken nuggets and could only eat 1 and a half pieces. The day before that I ate something and got sick. I'm only 10 weeks out so.... It all depends on what my pouch decides to keep down. It could be anything that I get sick from but it doesn't happen as much as it did before. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 185 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Any suggestions?

Any suggestions for getting rid of weakness? I'm 5 weeks post op and it seems like when I eat a popsicle (which I only eat half of each time) the weakness goes away, til I take a nap and wake up and it's there again. And is it normal that each time I see a picture of food I get repulsed by it and want to throw up? Each time I see pasta or rice, I just frown at it. When I think about going out somewhere to eat, I get discouraged and think "How am I supposed to eat that? Their servings are enough to feed two people at one time." It just bothers me because I hate wasting food and that's all I do now. Once I'm full, I don't go back and finish my plate later, I just throw it away because of said reason and because I hate having the same thing twice now.... ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 200 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

Tips needed-Hard to space meals, drinks

I was told 30 minutes before and after so I rotate between eating and drinking and I start drinking first thing in the morning when I wake up. 7ish in the morning is when I start to drink. Then 10am is when I have my first meal of the day. Around 10:30a I drink again and so on... I had to sort this out for a few weeks before getting the hang of it. I'm still used to eating barely anything. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX
  11. Ultimately, it's your decision and your body. Only YOU know what's best for you and opinion or no opinion, they can't change that. They don't know how good or bad anything is... They're not you, you're yourself. They really shouldn't be against something that's more helpful than they assume. And some of their remarks are rude. I've only told the people that I knew would support me. Anyone else... They don't need to know unless they're a medical professional and is treating me for something. Most people in my family don't need to know because they like to gossip. It boils down to if these people don't have anything nice or helpful to say, ball that opinion up and throw it in the disregard bin. All that matters is how YOU feel about your decision and what YOU think. Nothing else matters and you've taken the initiative to take charge of your health. Hopes

That's how I felt when I went through mine. But all of the feelings of uneasiness were for nothing. I was at the same BMI when I started with nothing else wrong with me but got approved anyway. If I can get approved then so can you. [emoji846]If it doesn't happen then you can always appeal their decision. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    What's the best protein bar?

I'm not saying it's the best because you may not like it after trying it but I bought the Special K ones. Chocolate and Peanut butter. I eat those but only less than half usually because they make me full fast.... And there's 20 something grams of carbs in it so if you're watching your carbs, I wouldn't try to eat the whole thing in the same day. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Questions

I have tattoos... 5 of them. I'm a little over two months out and although I think my arm is a little flabby, the tattoo hasn't changed. Neither has the other 4... Yet. The outcome is different for other people. I guess I'll find out how they look another 4 months from now. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Medications working after surgery

I'm not sure why. The last time I did research, it said that the surgery may help with your depression or anxiety. It said something like "the more weight you lose, the more happier and confident you'll become." Which was true about me. I still get anxiety a little bit if I feel like I've eaten too much or have eaten the wrong thing. It varies from person to person. What may happen to one person may not happen to the other. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX
  16. I needed help. You may need help too. I just had someone around just in case. Things can get emotional, you may lose track of anything your surgical team might want you to take notes of, taking meds consistently... Even eating like you may forget to eat cause you're really not hungry. I recommend someone sticks around to help you out because sometimes you won't even feel like or have the energy to do anything else. That's all I did was just lay there unless I needed my pain meds. The possibilities are endless here. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Post Op activity

I couldn't bend at all the first two weeks. I still doubt I can walk as far as I used to but I'm working on that. I have lost about maybe 25-30lbs after surgery.... Which is awesome... ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Medications working after surgery

I don't know... And here's why.... I've been taken off all of my meds for depression and anxiety because I don't need them anymore. I feel fine. The meds I need are my migraine meds, I take them as needed. And my sleep meds. It really just depends on that of each person because they're all different. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Another post about stalls!!

I was in a stall for like two days. Before that a week. I figured out why on my own though. The first time I needed to eat more and get more protein in than I was getting. The second was probably from the Taco Bell I ate... I'll never touch Taco Bell again though, it made me feel like crap 10 minutes after eating it and once I made something myself, I immediately felt better... And the weight started coming off again. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 186 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

When did you get to meet your surgeon?

I had to wait til after the 5 month supervised diet. My last meeting was in February. I met her a week or so after I finished the meetings. Then I've seen her the month after for the pre op appointment after that came the surgery. I did see her an hour before the surgery but it was very brief. She just made sure all my questions were answered. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 187 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Meds

A lot of meds of mine got changed. One of the pills that were huge got changed. I think it was Ambien or another med. the rest I don't take anymore. They were depression and anxiety meds. I have meds for migraines but I only take it as needed. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 187 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX

    Pain?

My pain levels were a little up there the day of surgery and after. Then as the days passed it went down. First day, on a scale of 1-10, I was a 9... after I left the hospital, it was a 7. A week later, it was a 4. Now I'm off pain meds. After week 2, I wasn't in much pain. As long as they give you something that works for you, the pain should be tolerable. ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 188 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX
  24. I'm doing a Gastric Bypass study. At the last study I got an endoscopy so they can take out tissue from my intestines. It went well and all and I understand what happened and all about their process.... But before doing that, they took my measurements, blood tests/samples and checked my heart rate/blood pressure. Then after they did all of this, they gave me a paper with all of my results on it, on the paper it said my body type was standard.... What is the standard body type for women? Surprisingly google didn't know and gave me information about things I already knew, I.e. The many different body types women may have. Nothing I clicked on said what the standard body type was. Or every link that popped up was just repeating what the others said. No useful information..... ---------------------------- HW- 273 Pre-op Wt- 230 SW- 226 CW- 189 GW- 130 Ht- 5'2.5" DOS- April 26th, 2017 "Only those who try will become." ~FFX
