Aww thank you. That's really sweet. I'll gladly share any and all information with you. You can ask me anything or even send me a private message if that help. I know all of my tips may not work for everyone, we can always bounce ideas off each other.

No you won't get denied, insurance companies actually like to see you losing weight prior to surgery, it shows that you are taking this seriously.

6 months is just a requirement some insurance companies have, some do not. But the additional diet courses are well worth it. At the end of the day it's extra knowledge and knowledge is always power.

Protein Jello, sugar free popscicles, sugar free pudding, and Soup. Ask your nut if you're allowed some soft Protein rich foods like yogurt or string cheese.< br>

When is your surgery? Don't feel bad, **** happens. Wake up tomorrow and start fresh, give yourself a game plan that you know works for you. The weight will start to come off, it could also be stress.

NSV: so i randomly went jean shopping and the size 4 actually fit, and really fit. I thought i was going to have to squeeze into them for dear life lol. I've been fat my whole life so this is new to me. The fact that i'm actually a small still blows my mind, but yet the scale still says im overweight smh. I'm still going to view this as a victory.

While my surgery isn't a secret, I just don't broadcast it... My hubby and children are very supportive, but...my best friend who went to all the appointments (until recently) is not. She is trying to discourage me and attempting to sabotage my pre op diet .... I don't understand her behavior, or her reasoning for it... (She says its too dangerous.) and she send me links to articles on anything bad or negative about it... I told her last week to stop and if she couldn't be supportive of my decisions then we would need to reevaluate our friendship... Surgery was scheduled yesterday for December 18th, and I'm not telling her.... Just making a FB post that I'm going to take some time to myself and recuperate....
I don't care what other's think....but I just can't deal with anymore negativity over it....

Tip 1: stay busy- the more stuff you're doing the less you think about food, this can transfer post op too

Tip 2: stay hydrated drink as much Water as you can, you'll have to do that anyway but it also keeps you feeling full.

As far as shakes taste- go with whatever you want now in small quantities because your taste buds might change dramatically, so what you're drinking pre-op may not be palleteable post op and vice versa.

Your recovery will be fine. Don't focus to much on Protein the first few days, because you will have no appetite and might struggle with liquids. Just focus on staying hydrated as best you can and walking every hour to get the gas pressure to move.

Congrats!!! The process is definitely annoying but so worth it! You're lucky your insurance only requires just a few diet classes. It varies from person to person. You'll do fine with the eval too, don't stress. I personally found it to be more useful after surgery, because you learn why you were eating the way you were before and learn how to control it which i needed. And it was nice because when i do need more help, i can always go back to that person if needed. Best of luck to you, you'll do great!

    1) welcome!!!!
    2) congrats on starting your process and your
journey (the starting line may seem overwhelming, but the finish line feels amazing and you all WILL make it to the finish line)
    3) wishing each and every one of you continued and long term success!!! You got this, even when you think you don't, you really do.
    4) if you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask

It does. But once you actually have the surgery your whole entire outlook on food will change anf your appetite will go away. It's funny because pre-op everyone dreds the liquid diet but the first few weeks post op, you won't even be thinking about food. It will seem like a chore to eat.

Nope, you have other co-morbidities. So just go for it, it's not about being super tiny, it's about feeling your best and being the healthiest you can be. The choice is always yours but given what you just said all of those other health problems would go away if you had the surgery. You've already come this far.

I had to actually eat myself to the appropriate BMI in order to get my insurance to cover it, because i did not have any other health problems. But it was the best decision i've ever made for myself, 1 year later and i couldn't be healthier and happier. It changed my life, and i wouldn't call it a drastic change. You would be bettering yourself.

Totally forgot to mention that just because we aren't telling the world doesn't mean it's truly a secret. I'm very open and transparent amongst the bariatric community, so much so that i volunteer and mentor patients at my local bariatric surgery center. And i'm in 4 support groups online, trying to help others going through the process. I'm willing to help them in any way possible. I just get easily annoyed with random strangers asking me to many questions lol, when they have nothing positive to gain from it. So people know but it's who i chose to inform.

Pre-Op but surgery is next Tuesday. I'm pumped up with excitement, my 2 week liquid diet has me down by 30 pounds and feel so mush better. Yet I read horror stories on the post-op recovery. I'm praying for a smooth recovery, yet preparing myself for far less than smooth!
