Could Someone 'Splain This To Me?
xoxococojay replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well every surgeons requirements vary. But i follow a youtube chef named darius cooks on social media, he eats literally whatever he wants. But he paid out of pocket, so im not sure if he wasn’t given an eating plan, has a less strict eating plan or just doesn’t care. But i’ve seen that too. Everyone’s different. Personally i started eating around 1 week, soups or dairy products. I just refused to do a pureed food phase and i was fine. -
I bought my little Cheez Its again I just cant stay away from them
xoxococojay replied to apositivelife4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Donate them. Your tummy is small now so you probably wont go through two boxes. -
Hi!!! You’re definitely not alone, i’m here. Ask me literally anything on planet earth. I’ll try my best to help. Also, i totally get how you feel. I didn’t know anyone who had wls before i did either and i didn’t tell my family until the day before because they were not supportive either. I had surgery about 1 yr and a half ago and i couldn’t be happier. Welcome to the group! I’m jay btw.

Sooo i realize this is super random, crazy, unconventional and all that, but that’s kind of what i’m known for lol, so here goes nothing! 😊 So i’m in 4 other bariatric related groups online with thousands of members (most of them are women based but i would like to open this up to everyone) I’m noticing that sooooo many of those posts are not wls related at all but dating/ relationship questions right and people love to answer them and help each other out. So my thought is to start judgement free thread where you can literally ask whatever you want related to the topic, nothing is off limits and maybe we all can help each other out. No shame. Nothing should ever feel uncomfortable or embarrassing here. I’ve met plenty of people that just need help finding what their looking for, or translating what the opposite sex actually means, i’ve even seen people ask questions simply because they just don’t have any actual real life experience. All of that is ok, ask away. My only rule here is that there should be no negativity, or arguing in this thread. We all already have more than enough on our plates, no need to hurt anyone. Also, if you have a question that you’re not fully comfortable sharing with everyone or you just need someone to listen to you, by all means feel free to send me a private message and i’ll try my best to help you out as well.💖💖💖🤗🤗🤗 -Jay

Ummm hun you’re gorgeous regardless, there are like billions of penis’ out in the universe i’m sure plenty of them will find you attractive when you’re smaller. Besides, don’t think about it, most of the time you accidentally find awesome connections when you least expect it.

I am the queen of this. I dont tell anyone because i dont care to hear anyones opinions or negativity or judgement or ignorance or play 21 questions with me. Plus i would never broadcast that im fat, or that i take allergy pills every day, it’s like who cares- none of their business. Plus, it’s kind of like if you choose to over share then you can’t really complain about anyone else’s reaction. And you have every right to feel that way, it is your body after all. So by all means do what works best to you, you do not owe anyone any sort of explanation period. Now that im now a size 4 instead of a 14 i get asked the obviously expected weight loss questions on a rare occasion. I answer them honestly by saying i watch what i eat (high protein, low carb, smaller portions) and i workout 5 days per week hard core. That’s truthful. Im not ashamed nor am i hiding anything. I just dont typically volunteer any info about myself. Plus as you go through the process your circle changes and you meet people who didn’t know you before you had surgery and they won’t care or question it, they will literally just view you as you.

To tell or not to tell
xoxococojay replied to beccaconaty87's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Don’t tell. If someone asks and you guys are close and feel like sharing then that’s up to you but the fewer people in your business the better. Then there’s also a bunch of people who don’t care one way or another. -
Should weight matter in a relationship?
xoxococojay replied to Numbheart's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think it depends on whether or not you were at the same weight when you met. If i met a guy and he looked a certain way when i met him and then years later, he’s as big as a house, chances are i’m probably not going to be attracted to him anymore. It’s just a difference from what you were used to. But if you meet someone and you’re already over weight, then it’s kind of like who cares, obviously the person dating you can see that and it doesn’t bother them. I will say for me personally since having surgery i would not be willing to date someone that is really really over weight because our lifestyles are different. I don’t eat out very often anymore and i’m always in the gym which takes away time from other things. -
What’s with all the arguing??? Let the man ask his questions...jeez. That’s kind of what the group is here for, a judgement free zone of all questions related to wls. If you can’t actually answer them, then exit stage left. 🤷🏽♀️

1) welcome!!!! 2) congrats on starting your process and your journey (the starting line may seem overwhelming, but the finish line feels amazing and you all WILL make it to the finish line) 3) wishing each and every one of you continued and long term success!!! NSV: so i randomly went jean shopping and the size 4 actually fit, and really fit. I thought i was going to have to squeeze into them for dear life lol. I've been fat my whole life so this is new to me. The fact that i'm actually a small still blows my mind, but yet the scale still says im overweight smh. I'm still going to view this as a victory. -
Anyone 5' 1"? Low starting bmi? Care to share?
xoxococojay replied to countryrae2001's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@countryrae2001 that’s a good question, you’ll find your rhythm. Personally i focus more on weights and heavy weights for toning. I do less cardio because im afraid of being flabby. If i do cardio it’s just boxing (i would suggest only do what you think is fun for you) and only a few days per week. Whereas weights, i lift 5x per week. The smaller you get, you will notice that you start to lose weight slower. But that’s ok, it’s not a race and it will be beneficial because you probably won’t have any excess skin. (Also to much cardio can add to the excess skin issue) -

Use your surgery date weight. Based off of what you said, it sounds like we’re same size. There are pics of me floating around on here too. My bra size now is a 34G but it will probably be a 32 or 30 by the time im done. if you’re aiming for toned you can use fitness models as a slight gague (sounds silly) but the point is even though those women are super toned, they are definitely not 100 lbs. many of them are around 130lbs. -

That’s great!! I’m so happy for you. September isn’t to bad, it’s right around the corner. You’ll do great, just remember to walk every 30 mins to get the gas pressure to move and don’t stock up on liquids in the beginning. Wishing you the best of luck!!! 💖💖💖 -

xoxococojay replied to countryrae2001's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well first off, what is your starting weight because that matters. Also take into consideration your shape and go from there. I’m also 5’1. I wanted a healthy range not a magic number (mostly because nobody will ever notice if i gain or lose 3 lbs lol) and also because my shape if very different than most people. I’m very curvy and hour glass and i have huge boobs and i know that even post op, they haven’t moved at all. So my goal is somewhere between 115-130. I just want to be healthy, i definitely don’t want to look like skeletor. -
Need advice and encouragement not ripped apart
xoxococojay replied to lisalou1968's topic in The Gals' Room
Hi!! First off you’re more than welcome to send me a private message if you ever need any encouragement. Wishing you the best on your journey. I would say write down a list of your favorite protein rich foods and meal prep. You can have what you like but you have to cook it yourself to make it healthy and low carb. It’s all mental so if you view it as eating things you don’t like then it’s a lot harder to be successful. Plan out some yummy snacks and keep them with you. Definitely don’t drink and eat because that pain will not go away. Another thing i did that was soooooo helpful was i started ordering groceries online, partly because im lazy and busy but also because it keeps me on track. I can’t eat what i don’t have. It keeps me accountable for my own actions and i also write things down. And find buddies either on here or locally to help motivate you. Not just with what you eat but also being consistent with your workouts. You just started your journey so you can still start over, it’s not to late. But the biggest thing i would suggest- you have to meet with a therapist again to over come all the underlying issues and also to help you find ways to manage stress and find a different outlet other than food. I did that and it was super helpful. If the person you went to during your pre op requirements wasn’t helpful, then definitely find someone that you just click with. You got this!! Hope this helps and good luck. -
Honestly just ignore him, like who really cares what he thinks anyway. I despise cardio. The only cardio i will ever do is boxing. I lift heavy weights 5x per week and i love how i look. I’m still very hour glass and feminine but i’m not “bulky” or anything like that. I’m toned. And i prefer it that way. A lot of times when people do cardio only they get smaller but they still look flabby and that’s just not a goal of mine. So keep doing what works for you and you’ll be fine. How tall are you btw? Your stats are similar to mine.

1. I felt like myself by day 5. No issues, i would say the most important thing is just walk every 30 mins to get the gas pressure to move

Me too!!! I saw food and i ate food.

Appetite back with a vengance!
xoxococojay replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think what you’re eating is clearly the issue. Not enough Protein and to many slider foods. It’s also head hunger mixed in there. Also keep in mind you ARE eating waaayyy more than 1200 cals easily, so use my fitness pal to help you track. Lay off the carbs, sugars and added fats. Think clean protein rich foods instead. If you love avocados, you can have avocados and eggs. Also try preportioning everything in small bowls or appetizer plates. But if you switch your diet up and focus more on very high protein, low carb you should be fine. If you still find yourself hungry after that plan out 6 mini high protein meals every 3 hours. Hope that helps. Good luck, hopefully you hit whatever your personal health goals are. -
Loose jiggly skin -- what do I have to look "forward" to?
xoxococojay replied to Born in Missouri's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It depends on where you start. I know plenty of people that didn’t have any lose skin. Some people add collagen (i have no clue if that actually helps) But if you do have some excess skin, be proud of it. It’s a reminder of how far you’ve come. Nobody will ever point that out. -
Reduced food following WLS
xoxococojay replied to Lara83's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Of course you get used to eating less. It’s your new normal. Many of us dont miss that, if you do then that’s a completely separate thing. As far as bowel issues go, it honestly depends on what you eat. If you eat tiny portions of crap or not enough fiber then you may have issues. But if you’re balanced you should be completely regular.
