    Dating

I would say skip online dating and have fun. You’ll meet some of the most amazing people unexpectedly just by doing hobbies you love. I accidentally met the love of my life after wls that way. I’m not against online dating or anything, i guess my suggestion would be- take some time to date your self instead of going into it with a full blown purpose if that makes sense. Who knows, you may even meet your match randomly at whole foods or the gym or something. Sorry you’re going through that hun, view it as the right door closing and a better one about to open. 💖

    Revision from sleeve to bypass

Yes- i did! I had my revision friday and i feel freaking amazing!!! I’m wishing you all the best of luck. I was in the same boat as you in the sense that i workout hard core religiously 5 days per week and i’m like the poster child in my local area for how to eat post op, but even i had severe reflux. Shit happens. It got to the point where i honestly didn’t even care if i drank sparkling water because i ended up with reflux anyway by avoiding that. So i did not have bypass, i had the one anastomosis bypass which is different. It’s rare and i’m actually literally the first person in my state to even have that done. So we’ll see how it compares, but so far i can say that it is definitely very very different from my sleeve. You will be so much happier once the reflux goes away. All the best to you.

    Juice post op?

So update- i had it done friday and the 1 anastomosis definitely feels different, but in a good way, sort of. Like no reflux- yay!!!! (I’m over here happy dancing lol) I let my surgeon experiment with a new operating tool, i have no clue if that added to my recovery or not, but i feel completely normal if that makes sense. The day of i was tired but not really in pain, it was so weird my appetite was still there so i was pissed that i couldn’t even have water. The second day- the appetite kind of slowed down a little but when they gave me water i was so shocked that i’m drinking it normally exactly as i was before. The second day i still wasn’t in pain but i could definitely feel that did something, but it wasn’t uncomfortable at all. I was just so ready to go home and lay in my own bed. (I stopped all pain meds by day 2) Now that it’s been a few days- i’m so over this whole juice thing. I’m not used to it so the day i’m allowed to eat something not sweet will be heaven lol. I feel exactly the same as before, i’m honestly wishing i could go back to work tomorrow. I was fortunate enough to meet someone else who had the same procedure and she said that it feels different from a regular bypass or sleeve. She said that when you eat something you aren’t supposed to, you don’t get sick right away- it’s more like delayed dumping. She did say that she can eat and drink normally with no issues and even do so at the same time. She also said that there is no uncomfortable feeling in your throat like the sleeve if you eat to fast or drink to fast which is good. But we’ll see if i experience that too.
  4. Did anyone’s dr tell them to drink juice post op? Sounds crazy to me. Long story short my revision is tomorrow (not wl related but for reflux) and my new dr said for the first week post op just drink juice mixed with water. But in my head i’m like why on earth would you want me to drink sugar? Like it sounds so backwards to me but idk. I’m also not allowed to have food until january, has anyone else had to wait that long? My first time around, i started slowly eating soft foods after about a week or 2 and i was fine, the weight came right off and hasn’t come back.
  5. Stupid question: I want to start tracking my macros, but i can’t find any bariatric specific macro calculators. Can anyone help me translate percentages and grams into calories please? T.i.a Goal is about 1,000 cals per day Protein 50%, carbs (10-25%), fats (25-40%) I can always re adjust if my protein calculations aren’t exact, i just need my protein to be at least 60g.

    Juice post op?

@johnsons13 dang that sucks...i’m sorry you experienced that. My new dr is making me do full keto for 6 months...ew 😝😒 so i was praying that air fried wings and cooked veggies would be my saving grace lol.

    Juice post op?

@phinley did you dump or feel nauseous then?

    Juice post op?

Thank you. I’m definitely going to follow the rules, i did the first time and it worked out (minus the reflux) so i’m not taking any chances. I think the juice thing is to add electrolytes. I’ll do it, i’m just terrified of dumping since my procedure is way different. It’s being converted into a hybrid procedure, i forget the technical name but it’s basically a cross between bypass and the duodenal switch. I hope it works too because reflux isn’t fun but i’m also not trying to lose anymore weight either. My only concern with waiting several months to eat actual food is the constipation issue, that’s never been an issue for me but i don’t want to deal with that either. Other than that, i’m totally fine with protein shakes for awhile, i hate pureed or mushy foods so shakes would be preferred.
  11. So now that i'm closer to my goal, i'm looking into possibly having some work done so i can feel great about myself. I'm definitely buying a bigger butt. But i'm debating on whether or not i should get a breast reduction too. I'm not having pains or anything that would require me to get one. And i'm conflicted because i'm glad they're still intact post op. The reason why i'm actually considering it is because of buying clothes, my waist is a small, but my chest is definitely a large, so it makes buying anything with a button or a zipper a challenge. I'm also afraid that if i do get a reduction then my stomach will become more noticeable. Below are my before and after photos. What do you suggest i do? (Obviously the two photos on the left are my before pics and the jumpsuit is my after)
  12. Aww you guys are so awesome! I love this group. It’s been months since i posted this....after weighing my options, i’ve decided against a reduction. I really don’t need it. I personally would feel weird with smaller boobs, i’m so used to having them and they’re still perky. Unfortunately even now, i still haven’t lost weight in that area, just obviously my band size is considerably smaller. Also i don’t have back issues so my insurance probably would not cover a reduction in my case anyway. I think i’m just going to continue with weight training and focus on body composition and then go from there.
  13. The pain from what i remember isn’t bad and it goes away within a few days. A few days vs the rest of your life is a no brainer for me. I had more gas pressure than actual pain because of the co2 gas. So just remember to walk every 30mins to get that to move and that should go away within a few days too. I was totally fine by day 5. And the pain that you do have, they give you meds for. Just do it. Nothing to fear.

    Has anyone tried Orange theory?

I can answer that for you. It’s a class not a gym, so you’re guided through each workout with your trainer. It’s broken down into 3 circuts or blocks. Like one circuit might involve tradmills or rowing machines, the next circuit might involve weights, the next might involve plymetrics and body weight movements etc. and you rotate throughout each. Everyone that has done it, loves it and it is intense. The trainers are friendly, it’s not designed to be like bootcamp per sei. They put one inside my building so i was considering it. But even after my military discount it’s $169 per month in my area. Lifetime fitness has way more to offer for less money and out of the thousands of classes they offer each week, they have an orange theory equivalent class complete with heart rate monitors too. So i just joined that instead, it’s way cheaper.
  15. I can’t handle super sweet things like that! Someone brought cider donuts to work for someone’s birthday and I broke off a tiny piece (like 1/6 of a donut) to try... it didn’t taste as good as I’d imagined and I felt a little sick after. Glad I only tried a little! aww i'm sorry you got sick, i hope you feel better. In my case, it's different. I'm a vet and i was sleeved not bypassed so i don't dump. I also choose to only do stuff like that rarely even though i have no reactions to food.

    Ketogenic diet

Do what you know you can stick to. All diets work, but is it sustainable for you personally to stick to it long term? Keto is similiar to most bariatric plans just a heavy emphasis on fats so adding in fats. But i will say lately i’ve seen lots of keto people on instagram go on “carb feasts” for a few days and then go back to keto again to lose it which to me doesn’t make sense. It’s continuing the yoyo diet. Find whatever balance works for you as long as you’re getting the necessary amounts of protein per day.
  17. Usually because you’re full but in her case because it’s to soon for her to be eating anyway, it could also be a texture thing. Like maybe the bite was to big or maybe the food was to dry or dense. Everyone goes through this, it’s not a big deal, just a reminder to be careful going forward.
  18. So to be clear- i have a vagina....and i’ve never ever peaked in the guys room because well who cares, it doesn’t apply to me. But i second this. I’ve heard of sooooo many extremely nosy women in the guy’s room and even starting controversy and i’m just like (not to be rude) but get a life and leave them alone, the guys definitely aren’t peeking in the women’s section. Another option, would be start a guys only facebook group. There are plenty of these already for women set up.

    Undies question....

They give you a gown and you’re butterball naked under- the end lol.
  20. Totally just ate one of those fun sized 3 muskateers because i was craving chocolate. My bestie looked at me with her usual side eye, i told her to kiss my skinny ass 😂. And suddenly i feel better lol.
  21. You do realize this happens to everyone right?? That’s what you signed up for- it’s restriction. Just keep doing you and focus on your progress. The pitty party thing won’t help you in the long run so don’t worry about what naturally thin people get to do, it doesn’t matter. They don’t think about food like that. Just keep on pushing through and things will get easier as you continue to adjust. Focus more on how far you’ve come in your journey as a whole.

At what point do you stop counting the months?

Same here. I saw this lady breast feeding her kid and someone else asked her how old the little boy was, she said something like 44 months or something like that. My jaw dropped.

At what point do you stop counting the months?

Exactly!!!! It’s just easier that way.
  24. How old were you when you had your surgery and what made you wait as long as you did? I’ll go first- i had it done on my 24th bday. Personally, i would have done it sooner, had i known it was even an option for me back then.
