Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?
xoxococojay replied to J Johnston's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah i don’t tell anyone. It’s not their business. Co workers don’t know because i’ve changed jobs since. It’s not shame or a secret it’s more like who cares? I don’t volunteer info about anything else in my life. Nor have i ever felt the need to announce that i was fat, so why announce that i’m not? If they as how i lost weight, i just say i watch what i eat which is very accurate and i workout a lot. Some people believe in telling the world because it could help someone and what not, that’s their choice. I’m always willing to help in a support group format. I would never discuss anyone’s weight otherwise. I also just don’t have time for nosy questions or judgement, it’s just freeing to be more private. -
At what point do you stop counting the months?
xoxococojay replied to xoxococojay's topic in Rants & Raves
In my head i’m always like wait...”are we losing weight or making a car payment lol”? -
First off: i haven’t been on in forever...so i hope everyone is well. 2 NSV’s just happened...one i took a pic with no spanx or shape wear and actually didn’t hate it. (my face still looks like shit but who cares) Secondly, i made my bestie do tcx and insanity with me back to back at my local gym and we didn’t die 🤣🤣🤣

Me: 2008 ish vs 2019 -
Venting*** sorry So i'm in several other online support groups right. And i've started volunteering at my local surgery center support group too. But lately in 2 of my other online support groups i've been seeing a ton of negativity and body shaming smaller sleevers/ by passers. It's so rude to me. I just feel so bad for anyone that has to go through that. Someone recently posted something about people being in the 200's not needing wls, and that they should not post their before and afters. First off, aren't we all having the same struggle? Both physically and mentally. Secondly, nobody really knows another person's reasoning behind their decision. If your insurance is paying for it, it is because they are obese and possibly have other co morbidies. So i'm all for any and anyone feeling like they need to make a change to keep the weight off and get healthier. I just think some people should attempt to be a bit more open minded or just not say anything. This post i'm referring to literally started a cyber war, which is so crazy to me. Nobody would ever judge someone for being much larger and deciding to go down the wls route...just saying. I think everyone should feel welcomed and supported.

Just had revision from Sleeve to SIPS
xoxococojay replied to disco stu's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I think it partialy depends on why you had a revision if that makes sense. In my case i was revised from a sleeve to a one anastomosis bypass. But lost all my weight with my sleeve and did not regain, it was purely for reflux. So i don’t know if i will lose more or not. I would assume that if you had more to lose and did the whole back to basics thing, then you would lose the remaining weight. -
@greenTealael it’s been a min since i posted, how are you feeling now? I hope all is well.

How long after surgery were you able to start muscle toning?
xoxococojay posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
I still have time to go before my sleeve surgery. But i realized that i actually like weight lifting, but cardio on the other hand is the death of me. I know i will be able to start walking and doing cardio soon after surgery. But what about weights? What month post op have most people been able to start weight training? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
4 days post op.. emotional wreck, help.
xoxococojay replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will definitely get through all of that. And i think with the right foundation you will get over the whole missing food thing too, you’ll eventually in time get to a point where you realize it’s not that serious. Did you have to talk to a therapist during your pre-op stuff? Circle back with them and see if they can help. It’s all just mental, good luck. -
How long after surgery before you returned to work?
xoxococojay replied to MikeIL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First time around i took 1 week off (i was totally fine by day 5) Second time around i took a week off and i was actually fine by day 2, no pain what so ever- just tired the first two days. Now everyone is different. It depends on so many things like pain tolerance, how you react to anesthesia, age, kind of work you do, whether you had past surgeries. I’m young, never had anything done before or any additional heath issues, no scar tissue and i have a gov job so for me it was easier than others experiences. -
I found a pair of jeans i had as a kid and they’re actually to big. (Why on earth can i fit kid sizes??) My second non scale victory was some butthole parked super close to my car, so the door barely opened, i was still able to squeeze inside.

I reward/ spoil myself all the time, probably more than i should but who cares it’s part of that whole self love thing right? Pedicures/ gel manicures Nice handbags Pretty dresses About once per year or every other year i temporarily lose my mind and trade my car in for something cuter. Vacation You name it- i’ll do it. I’m all about non food rewards. I wanted to treat myself to some plastics too, but i just don’t need it.

Have you purchased any goal clothing for after surgery?
xoxococojay replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don’t do it lol. It won’t fit when you think you’re ready. I remember i had this super cute summer dress that was a size medium from years ago. I told myself i just wanted to lose enough weight to fit into it. Fast forward to this past summer, i found it while moving and tried it on. It literally fell right off me and on to the floor. Not even my big old flotation devices could hold that dress up. -
Revision from sleeve to bypass

They have to do a colonoscopy? Oh man, good luck with that. I just did an endoscopy and he could see that my sleeve was to narrow that way. -

Thanks! I forgot i even made this post, it was before i had surgery. I already lost all the weight. 6 weeks is pretty standard for weights, 2 weeks for cardio. -
Need some advice and a diet overhaul: 2 years post-op, 75 lbs down
xoxococojay replied to watchmeshine8's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
LONG POST ALERT- sorry. Please read it, hope it helps. Aww you sound like my best friends situation, so i’m going to give suggestions just as if i was talking to her. I hope it helps and isn’t to harsh, also feel free to send me a pm if you need to. 1. Plan. Just like how you plan out your school stuff, plan out your meals and your workout schedule. It will help. You can’t eat what you don’t have so if that means you have to pack healthy low carb snacks and order groceries online, then do so. 2. Write things down, whether it’s in my fitness pal, notes section of your phone or an actual food log. Visually see how you eat to hold yourself accountable. 3. Don’t do a “diet” because those are all temporary focus on getting in tons of protein first and you will be to full for junk. Obviously you know to watch your carbs and sugars so no need to repeat that. 4. Meditate- this is mental. Clear your mind and relax 5. Find a workout buddy or coach to help you stay active and even when you aren’t working out, stay busy. Don’t eat in front of the tv, no grazing or snacking, try to stick to 4 smaller meals per day. 6. Therapy- it works wonders and it’s not scary. It will help you overcome the mental aspect of things and help with the self image part of things. Sounds like you’re in the middle of a slight depression, talking to someone can help so much. Many of us (including myself have had to do so) 7. Prioritize- focus strictly on this and school. Worry about men later. Trust me they will always be there, there’s like billions of them on the planet. Date yourself first and do what you love so your confidence improves first. That confidence does NOT come from validation from some guy. You’ll meet the right guy in due time, there’s no rush. Water- when you think about food always have water first. Then eat later. Only do workouts you love- this journey truly is 70% diet, 30% exercise. But it is all about 100% consistency. So do things to be consistent. Create a routine for yourself. You’re soooo driven in all other aspects of your life so i know that you can handle this too. Also realize how far you’ve come. You have lost a ton of weight already and wear that crown proudly!! Tell your self positive affirmations each and every day and practice self care because that is 100% part of self love. Somewhere in the archives there is a rant from a long time ago, when i first joined that lists a ton of tips i used to mentor my local support group and trust me everything may not be for you, but it will definitely help. Read over it and find what works for you. This is YOUR journey, you’re a strong bad ass and you’re in control of it. Best of luck to you! -
Bowels after surgery
xoxococojay replied to nlmguerrero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What procedure did you have? So you just had surgery so any bm is a good thing, most don’t have one until they start eating again. Blood in your stool is definitely not normal so call your surgeon and just ask what that could mean. The reason why i asked what procedure is because usually you hear about the runs with bypass and ds patients, not so much the sleeve. Sleevers tend to either be normal or constipated. I will say with most people it almost always goes away with time, so good luck. -
Questions for the nervous.
xoxococojay replied to JohannaLea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nope, you will be fine. They actually like that because it shows that you’re serious about your weight loss. Good luck, i’m so excited for you to join us on the loser’s bench! -

Of course! By all means if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Did you get a surgery date yet for your revision? -
Recreational marijuana usage post Gastric Sleeve surgery
xoxococojay replied to existentialfatty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I honestly don’t remember when i started again, maybe a year or so, but i only do so rarely. And you will react to it the same way YOU did pre-op. -
Why liquids only?
xoxococojay replied to BelleOfBatonRouge's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Because you will drop excess weight the fastest that way. But protein shakes will still give you nutrients so you’ll still be healthy. Not every dr requires it, but most do. It’s hard pre-op but much easier post op. -
Post Surgery Tastebuds Changes: tell me yours
xoxococojay replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So just an fyi- don’t lose hope, your taste buds will all come back in due time. I hated eggs for a whole year, i’m fine with them now. It’s just temporary.
