xoxococojay replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's a good idea. I used to live off of my croc pot and left overs in the beginning but now im so sick of food all together i'm over left overs. I think i just view eating as a hassle these days lol. -

Nope. I'm post op, that's why i don't want to hear from pre-op people on this one. Sleeved back in december. Honestly what i think im going to do is order from fitness meal delivery services. I think someone else mentioned that. But there are websites like munchery, metabolic meals, flex pro, nuvision etc that make high protein low carb healthy meals already cooked delivered. And one meal will last me all day or two days. But i'm loving all your suggestions. I'm just being super duper lazy lol. I actually love to cook. I just despise cooking for half a person lol. -
Leftovers, eh, not interested!

Same here. I don't despise them but i don't love them either. I cook a lot less often because i don't want to eat the same thing more than once. -
Let's talk skin...excess skin and scarring
xoxococojay posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
So my vsg incisions are still visible, and it's almost bikini season, what do you guys use to fade your scars??? Also has anyone ever tried collagen pills, did it help with loose skin? I really don't have any excess skin that needs to be removed, i'm just trying to prevent saggy skin later once i am at my goal. I just want to keep everything tight, but i'm not sure if it really works or if it's a gimmick. -
Smoothie and shake work arounds- sick of boring protein shakes??
xoxococojay posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
So i have always been a lover of smoothies and milkshakes, they were always my guilty pleasure. But i got sick of basic super boring protein shakes. And for some reason premier protein doesn't blend well for a smoothie either. So this is what i found.... (I realize now after writing this that there's a recipe sharing section, so screw it lol) 1) i'm in love with starbucks caramel frappuccinos and macchiatos. Anything caramel coffee flavor i'm seriously obsessed with.... so i discovered this -scoop of syntrax latte caramel macchiatto with fair life fat free milk (it is lactose free). You can add a tbs of international delight sugar free caramel macchiato creamer to it if needed but it should be sweet enough. I've also done this recipe with premier vanilla RTD shake instead of milk and both ways are amazing!!!! If you use fair life fat free milk you end up with 36g of protein. If you use premier with it you end up with 53g of protein per serving. (If it's to sweet or to heavy just add a few tbs of water to your shaker bottle) 2) for oreo milkshake or chickfila milkshake lovers Do the same thing but sub syntrax protein for GNC pro whey powder in cookies and cream. It's heaven. 3) smoothie lovers- i tend to make smoothies all the time in my ninja. But i ended up with a ton of premier shakes and i wanted to do something with them. I was getting bored. So my friend suggested using flavored greek yogurt (oikos tripple zero, which i hate, fage greek or chobani all work fine) and premier in a shaker cup or blender bottle and mix well. It kind of taste more like a fruity milkshake to me, but it's yummy too! Works out to 43g of protein per serving. (Don't use a blender for this, premier doesn't blend well) I hope this helps anyone struggling with their liquid diet phase or anyone that just likes smoothies and shakes. Happy tuesday!! -
Smoothie and shake work arounds- sick of boring protein shakes??
xoxococojay replied to xoxococojay's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Really? Anytime i try to put premier in a blender or nutribullet with fruit to make a smoothie it always had a weird texture afterwards. For me at least it separates and just won't mix. Great recipe idea though!!! I'm going to try it. -

Omg that sounds amazing!!! I'm going to try it -
You're eventually going to hate "protein" bars. And they can be heavy and loaded with sugar. Look into jerky, cheese and greek yogurt so you can add protein to your diet.

How to survive post op clear liquid diet?
xoxococojay replied to redprincess's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Clear liquid diet ususally isn't for more than a day or 2. And it's typically immediately after surgery when you're still in the hospital so you don't want to eat anyway. You'll be fine. Then you'll get cleared for regular liquids -
So i don't either. I know exactly what 4oz looks like visually and i stop when i'm full. But for people who need a food scale, i think its a great idea to keep you on track. Some people do eventually strech their stomach and over eat over time. And side note amazon sells a super cool food scale that actually tells all the nutrition facts/ macros for everything you eat. So for example it will tell you exactly how many calories and protein you're eating even if it's just 2oz of chicken. It's on $39.00

Pretty much any lower carb high fiber, decent amount of protein whole grain food is ok. Just know it will fill you up after 2 or 3 bites so always eat your protein first. Unless im really craving a quesadilla or something i skip starches all together. I can eat them i just don't want to, it's to heavy for me.

I just use mission or la tortilla factory low carb tortillas for wraps and quesadillas. I use one and cut it in half.

Office Pitfalls and Hazards - I need help avoiding these!
xoxococojay replied to Tiamka's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Omg!!!! This happens to me all the time! My office is literally like diabetes city, theres junk food everywhere. I'm sure your office has a small group of people that watch what they eat, so hang out with them more and the foodies less. Bring your own food. And just try really really hard to walk away, i know the struggle is real. I've slipped up a few times and gave in but i felt crappy physically after eating junk. So that helped me stay away. And also when in doubt pop a phentrimine to get your mind off food from time to time. I hope that helps. -
Question - eating and drinking vs liquidy food?
xoxococojay replied to sydneyjonno's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
No such thing as a silly question in this group. And yeah you can totally have that. It should go down just fine, it won't hurt like if you ate and drank water. -
I personally skipped the soft foods diet. I was able to eat normally so i said screw it, but yes i use a croc pot all the time. Beef works really well, you can it super soft to the point where your new tummy can handle it
-
Never been, but i know they have steaks and burgers. Just sub starches for veggies and enjoy what you can.

Have you guys ever tried either and did it work for you post op? What are your thoughts? So for those of you who are unfamiliar with each, here's how it works: Keto-great for dropping **** loads of weight. Diet tends to be more fun because it allows you to eat yummy foods like bacon. You still have to watch your macros. But basically your diet consists mostly of protein and fat (yes i said fat) and no sugar or carbs. So it forces your body to use fat as energy, thus causing you to burn calories and fat like crazy. Paleo- more of a lifestyle change so you will be healthier overall and still lose weight but not as dramatic for weight loss. Diet is also low carb and high protein. No processed foods like grains etc are allowed. You are allowed to eat starchy veggies like sweet potatoes, yams etc on this diet. I know people who have tried both and loved it, keto seems to be a winner amongst everyone i've talked to. But since our nutrition needs are different as wls surgery patients, i was wondering if anyone tried it and if it still had the same effect on us.

Keto vs paleo??? Have you ever tried it?
xoxococojay replied to xoxococojay's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
That makes so much sense. That def falls within the keto guidelines. I'm actually going to try what you're doing starting august 1st and see if A) i can maintain it, and do i lose more this way. -

Thanks for that. Now i can kind of figure out where i need to be macro wise. That's so amazing, an XS. I'm in the middle of a stall hence why i'm dying to try just about any fad diet. I'm a medium but i still feel fat (if that makes any sense) so i just want to get down to a size 2 eventually. -

I love that you included your average macros, it made it really easy to visualize. I'm so glad that's working for you. Do you ocasionally eat certain foods like greek yogurt, beans, fruit etc? For me at least giving up those foods makes me hesitant about a keto diet. But it should still be ok for a regular low carb diet i think.
