Surgery in a couple hours and I can't sleep

If it makes you feel any better, I got to the hospital the day before my surgery. So I had to sleep in a hospital bed and stew over the decision I was making. I literally made myself sick. All. Night. Long. But I'm 4 months post op, and so happy with my life now!! It's different, yes, but SO WORTH IT! Good luck, and I'm so happy for you!!
  2. Hi everybody!! I'm new here, and I have a mini-gastric bypass scheduled for Nov. 24th (Thanksgiving day!) and I would love to hear from some people who've had the procedure. I was originally going for a sleeve, but they recommended that I NOT get a sleeve due to some acid reflux problems that I have, so they suggested this instead, and to be honest it's got me worried. I don't know nearly as much about it, simply because I haven't had as much time to research. Nearly everything I've read has been positive, but I have seen a few things regarding the possibility of stomach cancer down the line... (definitely worrisome) as well as the possibility of worsening reflux, even with this procedure. So any and all information is appreciated. (Sorry if I'm rambling, my mind is racing... lol) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'm 7 weeks out, and I've lost 40 lbs. I'm EXTREMELY pleased with my progress. But lately I've been getting depressed. I want "real food." It's hard for me to find options for me to eat, as nothing sounds good. I've been keeping food down well, it's just that I don't want to eat. Does this get better? I'm just worried that I'm gonna be struggling to find options for the rest of my life. I know that's not probable, but it's just my personality Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Whiny moment :(

Thank you so much everybody My day of depression has subsided for now, and I know that this will be worth it in the end. But I look forward to trying all of your suggestions!! I can't wait to try the pizza and spaghetti squash!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. How do you guys get in 800-1000 calories a day? I'm 3 weeks postop and I'm still struggling to get in even 300 calories. I think that's part of why I still feel rotten Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I'm exactly one week postop. And now I'm having knee pains in both knees. I've NEVER had knee pains before. What is this?? Has anybody else experienced this? Does it go away, or is it here to stay? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. Hey guys! My surgery is scheduled for Thursday. Only 2 days away! Anyway, I'm a concierge at a high end country club, and I'm planning on going back after 2 weeks. However, part of my job is to sort wine, which involves lifting and sorting 40-ish pound cases of wine. Generally 10-12 cases. When could you guys lift that type of weight? Thanks! Workdesk friendly foods?

Thank you!! I'm starting to get nervous. I thought I was doing so good, being steadfast and strong Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Hi!! My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 24th. And I'm wondering what kind of foods you guys typically find easiest to bring to work with you and eat at your desk post-op. During ALL stages. Lol. Clear liquids, full liquids, mushies, puréed...etc. I'm just trying to plan ahead how I'm going to get my Protein in while I'm at work. Also, what protein powders or supplements do you recommend? Is dairy free best? Thank you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Workdesk friendly foods?

With a mini, there is only one anastomosis of the intestines, rather than two. Supposedly that cuts down on complications, and recovery time. I had to do some serious studying up on it. The long-term outlook is good, based on studies. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Newbie with questions :)

Thank you for this info. I want to know what I can expect. I haven't spoken with a Sylvia. I've been speaking with a Joanne, and a Skye. You stayed at a hotel? I was told that we would be staying at Hospital Angeles 100% of the time...? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I did not!! Where did you get that info from... I was supposed to get a sleeve but my doctor convinced me into a MGB... Never had a surgery before Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I think they meant why did you choose the MGB rather than the sleeve or a rny bypass? What was your reasoning? I'm having mine through BeLiteWeight, and Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez. I'm a little worried about going out of country, but I've heard great things about Dr. Rod And why is your bypass so long, if you don't mind me asking? I thought the typical length was between 2-7 feet? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you Are there any foods that don't agree with your new stomach? I've heard that meat/dairy sometimes don't agree. Sorry for the random question-- I'm trying to learn all that I can. Anything else you feel is important that I know? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you for your kind words!!! I'm excited but terrified. Lol. There are a lot of changes in my future and I'm trying to prepare myself, but I don't think that's completely possible. I'm hoping that my story is like yours-where I LOVE my decision. My biggest fear at the moment is that I'll regret it. I'm trying to think positive and know that the benefits outweigh almost anything else. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
