I am 9 days post op with a sleeve and all is going well except I have had diarrhea since day 5. It appears anything besides Water comes out about 30 mins to 1 hrs later or when I'm walking to one of my kids sporting events. I have spoken with my doc. She said it is unusual for sleeve patients but it's probably my bodies way of working it out and to give it another week. I haven't eaten much mushy stuff still mostly liquids. My question is for those of you who went through this did you find anything that helped, different protien supplements, type of mushy food, medication. I have all day soccer tournaments coming up. I'm considering just drinking water all day while I'm there unless I can figure something out. I'll be honest I don't think this is going away any time soon and am really scared it's a new way of life which is not something I can handle.

Day 3 post op with Diarrhea
lmelton98 replied to onelasttime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had non stop diarrhea since day 5. It seems to be related to the protein supplements. I've yet to figure it out. I'll keep you posted. I'm about12 days post op. Lots of suggestions to try different protien and pro biotics. Good luck. -
I'm 100% convinced its the protein powders. I've tried 6 different kinds of Whey protein and always after I have it I have issue. Ran a little experiment today where I only ate my mushies and water no protein, I know that's bad but was just doing it for the day as an experiment. No issues. A little flutters and bubbles here and there but that's it. I am thinking/ hoping it's the Whey. I bought some vegan protein powder and am going to try that now and see if there are any issues.

How did this work for you. I'm having issues and wanted to try a vegan powder.

not tolerating protein shakes

What was the vegan powder you used. I am having issues that I am pretty sure connected to the whey protein but not sure what to switch to. -
I got the go ahead from my doc for a few select things. It's 2 TBS of very mushed bananas like baby food. I tried eating a few times a day but it seemed to make it worse so I cut back and only did the bananas (BRAT diet the B part!) am doing mostly the protein liquids which also make it worse. Basically if it's not water or bananas it's coming out. I'm giving it another week like my doc said. Someone suggested probiotics so I'm going to start those too. I'm wondering if I should try a vegan protein instead. I had issues with diarrhea before too but never did anything about it. This is on a different scale though. Thinking it's time for a gastroenterologist.

I only eat once a day. Bananas are the only food that says in. I think it's the protein.

I ordered someone so I'm hoping that helps. Plus I'm only eating bananas and Apple sauce for my mushies and I started taking just 4 oz of protein and then wait a few hours and taking another 4 which seems to slow it down. I only get in about 20grams this way but maybe I just need to build it up more slowly to my 60grams.

I just wish it wasn't so quick! I feel it, I must go. With everything else going so well this is really depressing

I have had really bad diarrhea and am only 8 days out. I talked to my doctor today and she asked if it was black at all which was an indication of blood so I agree that you should get in really soon just incase. On a side note does anyone know of a good liquid probiotic. My doc said to give the diarrhea another week or two and I could use immodium which did 0 to stop it so I'm looking for a probiotic to see if that helps. I'm fine when I drink Water but any protien sets me off about 30 mins later, I'm starting to feel a little weak.

Sorry trying to edit and phone wigged out a little.

Sounds like a lot of stress in your life and it's obviously your trigger. Do you go to any stress management or support groups or even some yoga classes at your local gym. I speak with a therapist about any and everything. It really helps me with all the other stuff.

I had GS on the 4th going well except have a really bad pain in my abdomen near my belly button that has made it hard to walk around. All else is good. Did anyone else have that pain? Any advice? Sent from my LG-VS980 using the BariatricPal App
