I had a car accident 10 days after my surgery inAugust so had more swelling than normal. I struggled for quite some time getting all my Protein, but the NUT just had me drink a shake a day in addition to foods I was able to eat. That gave me 30 g immediately. My energy was horrible. At 4 weeks I biked and barely made 4 miles. At 10 weeks I went hiking and did20 miles one day and 10 on another. What a difference! You'll get there. Give your body time to heal. Walking will help immensely! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Weekly weight loss after vsg
GrandmaBee55 replied to Nayro827's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it's very normal. I'm 3.5 months post-op and now I usually see 1-4 lb loss weekly. I log all food, get all my Protein and fluids, but some weeks my body wants to hold on to some extra pounds. I'll take every pound lost and be proud of it, even if it's just one. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Avoiding temptations
GrandmaBee55 replied to Drea72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last year I skipped because I had just started program and it would have been too hard. Started the day today with a 3 mile run and 30 minutes of free weights. Then I started to cook. My plate was small with only 2 oz of turkey breast and 1/2 cup roasted butternut squash & cauliflower. All the others ate all the stuff I couldn't, but it didn't bother me at all. That will be you next year and you'll be proud of where you are! Just know the next few months will go by quickly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Anyone over 60 years?
GrandmaBee55 replied to onega128's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my sleeve on 8/3/2016 and turned 61 on 8/16. Preprogrammed I was 286.6, surgery date I was 220, and now I am 182.8. I'm not loosing as fast as I'd like, but I run 3 miles every other day and do strength training 3 days a week. I could have never done that before. Tell your mom you are never too old to become the healthy you you want to be. I'd do it all over again to be where I am today! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Average calories after surgery?
GrandmaBee55 replied to shelly.s's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I mainly watch my Protein and get 60g minimum daily. I track all my foods and during full liquids I was about 250. When I moved to pureed food I was about 350. Soft food diet I was averaging about 550 calories. I'm now on regular food and stay between 700-900 calories daily depending upon my daily activity and exercise schedule. My sleeve was 8/3/16 and I was told I'd be in 2 nights. However, I was in 3 nights because my bladder didn't wake up and I ended up being catheterized. Once I was able to pee, things happened quickly and I was discharged. A woman in my support group did the sleeve as out-patient because she didn't have insurance. She did fine but had no complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

HAPPY HEALTHY HOLIDAYS CHALLENGE!

Current weight: 185.2 Goal weight: 175 Hope I'm not too late to join. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I wasn't off puréed food until my 6 week appointment. Even after that it was a soft food diet for another 6 weeks. I'm 9 weeks out and have been going out with friends and my DH for about a month. I bring along a powdered Soup and get hot Water. Then I pay for an extra plate and usually take a little bit from my DH plate. I'm still only eating about 3-4 ounces so if I do order my own meal I take most of it home and have leftovers for a few days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

AFTER SURGERY SLEEPING PROBLEMS
GrandmaBee55 replied to MeGustaGuacamole's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on August 3 so am 9 weeks out. Prior I always got 8-9 hours of sleep. Now I am lucky if I get 6 hours. I wake up throughout the night and normally get up for good around 4 a.m. My Fitbit shows 30+ incidents of restlessness. I'm hoping this changes soon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Back to basics today - anyone want to join in 5 day reset?
GrandmaBee55 replied to butterfly23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good for you, butterfly23. I'm 9 weeks out from being sleeved but am dealing with end of life care for my mother. I fully understand the struggles that come along with the stress of an impending death, work, family, and all the other responsibilities of life. Let us know how you do and glad you are getting back in control. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I returned after 2 weeks. I could have returned earlier but was in an accident on the interstate and caused some complications. I was glad to be off the first couple of weeks. I had several nurses in my support group and they returned after 2 weeks. You could probably return sooner, but listen to your body. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How Much Protein?
GrandmaBee55 replied to shelly77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told 60 minimum. I usually have 1/2 shake in the morning and the remaining in the afternoon. That is 30g right there so I haven't had problems making 60. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Is it ok to eat string cheese?
GrandmaBee55 replied to christinah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat string cheese. It was on my plan after 4 weeks. I am not able to eat Pasta and my nutritionist discourages it. I bought a spiralizer and spiralized a zucchini one night and substituted this for my pasta. I've also used broccoli stems spiralized. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I've been told only decaf. I'm sure it's because caffeine contributes to dehydration. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Tomatoe soup? Postop diets.
GrandmaBee55 replied to dccarite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks, moved to puréed for another 2 weeks and then soft food diet now until 12 weeks out (I am currently at 9 weeks out). I was able to do the unjury chicken broth already at the hospital the day after I was sleeved. It's available online. Just make sure your Water is less than 140 degrees or it lumps. I also did a lot of sugar free Popsicles and Jello. This all counted toward my daily liquids. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I have been able to have decaf immediately after my surgery. I'm 9 weeks post-op and I have a decaf latte with soy or almond milk and one of the sugar free coffee syrups at Starbucks. Usually I do caramel. Of course no whip! I have no problem with this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I am 9 weeks out and I have had Halo Top ice cream. A 1/2 cup has 6-7 g of Protein. It's a bit more expensive but I love that I get protein from it.
