chewing instead of blending
Phinley replied to Okoro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just follow your doc's diet plan, man. It wasn't made to challenge you to find loopholes, it's there to make sure you heal properly. -
You're definitely losing fat at that calorie deficit but it sometimes takes a while for water weight to sort itself out. Stay hydrated and lay off the salt to help clear it.

Comment your favorite protein shake/powder/drink!!

Dymatize whey isolate. Only 120 calories in a scoop for 25 grams of protein and the fudge brownie one is delicious. Never got into the pre made stuff. Too expensive. -
I'll have a bag of air popped popcorn over a day as a snack. Only 200 calories worth but lots of salt so it's an occasional treat.

Or just shave the whole lot off. Was sick of having hair anyway and this was just an excuse to finally be rid of it.

WHATS THE LONGEST STALL YOU'VE HAD???
Phinley replied to ThickGirl5683's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's not really a stall or slowdown, that's eating maintenance. Counting calories for a week can give you an idea of where you're going wrong. Your sedentary TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) with your current stats is around 2,800 cal so if you can bring your intake under that, you'll start losing again. -
WHATS THE LONGEST STALL YOU'VE HAD???
Phinley replied to ThickGirl5683's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That'd be 3 weeks. Yo-yo'd the same 2 pounds for 3 weeks, then one day I took a really good dump, pissed a lot and woke up the next morning 8lb lighter. I was never worried though. As long as you maintain a calorie deficit, you will lose fat. Sometimes it just takes a while for water weight to sort itself out. Stay hydrated, lay off the salt and don't over eat. The three ingredients for a whoosh. -
Did you continue to lose weight after 1 year post op?
Phinley replied to bostonmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
1 year, 2 months out and still losing. The trick is to use the surgery for its intended purpose; as a tool to help you learn better habits and ditch the old ones that got you in this situation in the first place. If you just rely on the physical restriction effect, then you will soon reach a point where you can eat at maintenance levels and you stop losing weight. When that happens, you've gotta fall back on good old fashioned calorie counting to help you maintain a calorie deficit and continue losing. -
What's the Secret to Your Success?? Inquiring Minds...

Calorie counting and exercise. Started logging everything I eat or drink on MFP to help maintain a deficit and bought a bike that I take down to the beach every other day. -
How did you choose your goal weight?
Phinley replied to ChaosUnlimited's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm aiming for smack bang in the middle of the healthy BMI range. I paid for the surgery out of pocket so why the eff would I half-arse it? -
It happens. Just make sure you get your water in and you'll have a whoosh soon. My longest stall was 3 weeks, then I took a big crap, pissed like a race horse for a day and woke up the next morning 8lb lighter.

You stop losing when you consume as many calories as you burn in a day.
-
Eat as many calories as you burn. Either eat more often or more calorie dense foods. Hit up an online TDEE calculator to get an estimation on how much you need to do this, then adjust accordingly.

I switched to vaping on my doc's advice. Switched to juice without nicotine in it a week before my surgery. Unintended side efect - I got to taste real food while still on the liquid diet. Lemon pie and fruit loops kept me going.
