    Head hungry

HI, I was banded on 2/27/08 and I'm struggling with my eating habits as well. I just got my 3rd fill on 7/18 and this one is the tightest yet. I'm am eating less but I still find myself reaching for food even when I'm not hungry and it hurts to eat it.... but we have to be strong and I am taking it one day at a time. Try not to beat yourself up over it... we wouldn't be overweight if we didn't have issues with food. I'm trying hard to stay out of the kitchen and keep food out of sight. Hang in there and good luck!
  4. Hi I was banded 2/27/08 and just had my 3rd fill. I had very little restriction after my first 2 fills. I should have gone back for my 3rd fill much sooner because I lost NO WEIGHT after my last fill, but I fill much more restriction this time and I even have some trouble with swallowing but that has almost gone away since I was filled on Friday. Hang in there... from what I have read it can take several times with fills and even some unfills to find the sweet spot. It's hard to stay "good" when you feel no restriction and I'm lucky I didn't add on pounds the last 2 months. But we have to be strong and try to resist eating the wrong foods. Good luck!
  5. Hi, this type of exclusion is through your employer. Athem BC BS does cover this type of surgery (I have them for my insurance) but your employer can request that certain services not be covered (to save costs). You may want to talk to someone in HR and see if this policy will be changed. Good luck!

    What's wrong with me

Hi I just got my 3rd fill yesterday, I was banded 2/27. I got another 2 CCs and I feel much more restriction this time. I have the feeling like I have something in my throat and the same pain you describe in the chest. I have to wait until Monday to call my doc, so I'm hoping it starts to go away. I can swallow food and water OK and I'm not throwing up so I'm thinking it just might be swelling.
  7. I was banded 2/27 and as of 03/07 I lost 16 lbs (11 lbs pre-op and 5 lbs since surgery). My tight jeans are not so tight anymore so I do notice a difference. I am hesitant to weigh myself too much but I like to judge how my clothes feel. I don't go back to the Doc again til April 1st so I will have to weigh myself before then! I'm still on Full liquids until Wed 3/12. I can't wait to have some new foods to eat! I'm dealing with the hunger OK (no cheating). Keep up the good work everybody!
  8. Hi Grace, I know how you feel... I was banded on Wednesday and I am already getting tired of the choices! But hang in there.... we can do this! I changed protien drinks (chocolate to vanilla) to give a little variety. It's not easy cooking for the family either.... they had cheesburgers tonight and it was looking pretty good! But I keep thinking about the new clothes and how good it is going to feel when my clothes get baggy. I quit smoking almost 6 years ago and that was real tough for me.... but I had to remember that cigarettes should not rule my life (which they really did!) and now I have to use that same mentality to not let food rule my life. I wish you the best!
  9. The only tip I can think of is to remember that each day is going to get easier following the surgergy. I went back to work today and I was tired at the end of the day but otherwise feeling fine. My appetite is improved greatly today so I think the ability to get back into my "routine" is actually helping! Good luck!

    Angry of lack of motivation

Hi, I was banded on 02/27/08 and I did not go on a diet to get ready for surgery....except for the 1 week prior to surgery that my doctor had me on a full liquid (soups, protein shakes, jello, etc) and the one day of clear liquids the day before surgery. I also wondered how I was going to deal with the change... whether or not I could handle it... I did gain 3 lbs from my consultation on December 18th ( I was 309 lbs on 12/18/07 and 312 lbs on 02/21/08) but on the day of my surgery they weighed me and I was 299 lbs. I don't know if I have lost more in the past few days because I broke my scale (hehe! scales are evil!). So far I am feeling fine. I watched my family eat Pizza and garlic knots last night and other then loving the smell of the garlic, I was fine not eating it. You can do this... just keep thinking of the end result... I know I'm going to have bad days when I will wonder if it is all worth it... but If you read the posts from people that have lost the wieght... it does change your life for the better! Hang in there! Lorraine
  11. Hi from Long Island, NY. I was banded 02/27/08 at Peconic Bay Medical center in Riverhead, NY by Dr Mehta. I am recovering well and I even plan to go back to work tomorrow. I am not hungry so the full liquid diet is not bothering me at all. I am actually more worried about eating enough food because I have no appetite. My surgery went well but I did not a bad reaction to the pain med and got sick 3 times the first night and once more before I went home on the 28th. But since I have been home I have kept everything down. I also had alot of back pain but that is gone now. I did some working this morning and it was a little uncomfortable after awhile but it was not painful. I am excited about the changes to come and can't wait to start seeing the results! Banded on 2/27/08

Hi, I was also banded on Wednesday. Everyday I am feeling better and better! I have not had any hunger also. I am on a full liquid diet including protien drinks and pureed Soups. I am eating VERY SLOWLY because I had a bad reaction to the pain meds while in the hospital and I could not keep anything down. I am fine since I have been home and only took tylenol for the pain. Good luck with your weight loss!
