    Does anyone regret their surgery?

I have decided to go with the Bypass over the sleeve as well. But this was because I was under the impression that it was reversible. Now a friend who had the sleeve is saying that it's not? I just don't know anymore. ☹️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    They just don't get it!

How was your surgery? Mine is set up for 2/6 but I told them I may want the Gastric bypass over the sleeve. So I'm not sure how. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    October Sleevers

I am staying as strong as possible. One thing that has given me a big boost....I put on my wedding rings today. I have not been able to wear them in a long time. It's the small things that count right now. Sent from my SM-N930V using the BariatricPal App No longer being able to fit mine made me realize it was time to consider surgery. Thank you for sharing this... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Wishing you all of the best. I have PCOS as well but my periods are actually pretty normal with some unexpected spotting but the infertility at one point was my biggest challenge. Now being older and not wanting kids at this age becomes another worry for me after surgery. I'm having mine 2/6/2017 Please post before and after photos!! Best wishes dear!! Before and After Pics

I think I owe you my life! The first time I saw your before and after photo (in the purple sweat shirt) I was considering throwing in the towel. This was costing too much money. My insurance covers something if I cover my $2500 deductible! But when I saw your photo my husband walked past and said "Wow she looks amazing. You're going to be that small again too." I have never been that small! Lol but my husband was trying to be supportive so when he told me to think of this as an investment. I knew I had to do it. February 6th 2017.., I can't wait!! 7. Yes and His hands will always have you. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path. My husband couldn't understand how much pain I constantly was in and why I stopped wanting to go out. Then he went with me to the consultation with the surgeon and then a few weeks after he surprised me and took me out for a night in the town but he saw how hard it was for me to walk. A lightbulb went off. At 5'5 and 237 lbs I hide my weight well but how I feel is a different story. sleep apnea, PCOS and Fibromyalgia are all my new normal, but after turning 40 last month I refuse to live like this anymore. 2/6/17 I will be sleeved. I have always struggled and yoyo dieting so much from WL plans to pills to pills and plans. I'm praying for you honey because marriage is hard work! But Gods got that too!! 8. Sweetie, I am so encouraged and happy for your 50lb weight loss but I think the biggest weight that you lost was your husband. You seem to be doing so much better without him. Congratulations on your future endeavors. God Bless!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Can I lie - hernia op?

I do know of a friend who didn't tell anyone and her family thought she had Cancer because her hair was also coming out (she wasn't taking the Vitamins either) she was offended at first then started talking about fund raisers in her honor to buy clothes!! ???????? Can I lie - hernia op?

See I have a boss and then her boss. Her boss I'm really close with. She didn't ask reasons why but I told her because we are close. She was very supportive and understanding. I was detailed with my direct supervisor and she's trying to get me to cancel surgery and take Garden of Life Vitamins instead of surgery. She's 4"11 and weighs all of 98lbs wet! I wish I had of went with the hernia story. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm calling BS

I'm scared to death now!! Lol My husband and I do not have nor want kids. At 40 and 48 we are enjoying time with our very spoiled dog. But the fear is reading stories of women getting pregnant not even a year after. I'm sorry but I just found my belly button kid and I intend to keep it, pierce it, etc... 14. Why is he not supportive? My husband wasn't at first but after talking to my doctors he was on board. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I told too many people. I was excited but several did take the "Oh No! You're not that big! People die after having WLS" approach and it went on and on. Even my PCP kept saying "You're such a pretty girl. Just work out a little and change your diet!" Um.... been there, done with that. Wrote the cook book...and ate that too! I had to explain to her as well as my sister and parents that this was not a choice being made because I wanted to get into a little black dress but how this is a choice I made because of all the other health risk I face and deal with each and every day. My husband is very supportive but was hesitant at first then after speaking with my doctors he came around and my pastor and best friends are supportive as well. I go in February 1st.... my boss is another ney sayer but she's like 90 lbs wet! But the bottom line is that no one else knows my pain levels like me, bring out of breath all the time, and living with Fibromyalgia and PCOS at 237 lbs! It's hard! So this surgery will prayerfully give me life! ☺ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Please tell me it's worth it....

Yes I actually just changed jobs (after 10 years) so I have to wait a year to enroll with the new company. I have some of that money left (after they taxed the heck out of me) that I rolled into an IRA account. But very good suggestion. Thank you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My surgery is covered through BCBS of MI so I have been told but all of the copays and deductibles have me stressed. This was not a problem for my new company until I was told that our insurance rolls over now in January and not August as I was misinformed in the beginning. August is our open enrollment date. So I totally understand the concern. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Liquids - feel like crap

I have actually started interviewing people who I knew who had both Gastric and Sleeve and they were all good with sharing with me the good, bad and ugly. But the one thing I asked after the interview was "Was it worth it?" and they all said YES! One even gained like 50lbs back a few years after her Gastric Bypass. But now she's taking the steps to lose it again by changing her daily lifestyle habits. Check out the local support groups if u need to. I keep getting people telling me I'm not "that big"... but I know my struggles. You have to do what's right for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. This will be my new birthday because this is the day I start to live!!! I am also going to post on social media how I kept my new year resolution to lose weight!! I am a little nervous but I am ready to do this!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Well my dear here is another statistic that's scary.... you and I may very well be sisters because my father is the same way about me having surgery. I love him dearly and I know it's all out of concern but he had heard of other people who have had complications and he made me (yes I'm 40 but with good daddy's you're always respectful and any age) but he had me interview them and I got this.... Two women had hernia issues, one cousin he had gallbladder issues, another lady bypassed the bypass (she gained the weight back) my PCP who honestly said she knows nothing about WLS explained that she feels that I am not big enough (BMI 40) I get that a lot and what I do is I thank people and explain to them how I truly just pack my weight in spanxs well. lol and I do!! My cousin's wedding was beautiful. My maid of honor dress was gorgeous. But I was in pain the entire time!!! But after I reported back to my father that they all agreed they would do it all over again if they needed to he backed off. Lol I even talked to my pastor who was supportive. People tend to think that we have other options and yes, maybe we do, but when you are in constant pain and in too much pain to do anything about it? This surgery is the best and safest way for us to maintain and work out. This is by no means the "short cut" for me this is just getting started. I have had fibromyalgia for 4 years. The weight does not help the fatigue, slap apnea, new or old joint pain. The bottom line is that it is our bodies and we have to make the choice on if we want to live or exist? I'm doing my surgery Feb 1st 2017 because I choose to live!! Well....and brag on social media how I kept my new year resolution and lost 100 lbs!! Lol keep us all posted. 22. My psych Eval was 500 questions. I passed everything and just waiting on a date. With the holidays everything is kind of backed up so I was told that I should hear back this week. I hope my BCBS PPO if MI covers it all. The money I have set aside can go towards a new wardrobe! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I have BCBS PPO of Michigan. I went to the intro class that was very informative. My insurance required me to have 6 months of meeting with my PCP and her discussing the surgery with me (she really just gave her opinion but she agreed to submit a letter on my behalf of the surgery) I have been her patient for 14 years so she's seen my struggle of the Yoyo dieting and the aches and pains I deal with. I'm 5'5 240 lbs but I also have sleep apnea, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure and PCOS....but the insurance company only cared about the sleep apnea, the BMI (they wanted 40 but I was at 39.5 but the sleep apnea diagnoses gave me .5 Lol) and my doctors consent and a psych eval. Call your insurance company and they will tell you what all is covered and what is required and copay amounts before you start. That's what I did. I have my psych Eval next weekend and I'm ready. Best of wishes to you lady!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Migraines

I have done liquid fast before and I can assure you ladies it will pass. Your bodies are basically detoxing so you will have the headaches. It's just your body getting adjusted. I wish you ladies the best! I'm still trying to get my insurance BCBS of Michigan to say "give her a date please"....my BMI is at 39.1 but I have other medical issues that my body is not responding to the weight well. New to this process

So my BMI is 39.1, I have a number of boarder line and hereditary diseases. I.e. Diabetes, fibromyalgia, sleep apnea and rheumatoid arthritis. Not to mention how on my own I have PCOS and possible sleep apnea. Needless to say the added weight is killing me. However my doctor of 14 years does not agree that I need surgery. I have found another doctor that supports the surgery however, I'm not sure how long I need to see her before they can operate. I am so tired of being tired and fatigued. But the insurance company will only cover 100% if I have a notice from my doctor with her approval. Yes I look forward to being smaller but having the energy to take the stairs or walk from the parking lot and not be out of breath is what I'm anxious about. Can anyone else relate or has been through these hoops just to be healthy? Thank you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
