    Awful smelling stool and gas

I am 15 months out and my poops and farts still smell horrible. I even surprise myself. LMBO. Febreeze and Poopuri is gonna be the best thing. And if I’m getting desperate I’ll use my husband spray deodorant and move on with my day. After having DS it doesn’t matter what you eat. All your food is bypassing 60% of your small intestines so it’s gonna stink. Tell your family like I tell mine “ Oh Well. You’ll be alright.” Sometimes I ask them “did you die?” Keep up the success and leave the sh$t behind.
  2. I imagine that to be difficult. My family remains on their own over a year later. I cook sometimes but when I do it’s hidden healthy stuff.....suckers!!! You will do fine though. I’m praying for you!
  3. Yes it does get better. The first 3 days are the hardest. I did 4 weeks! But it’s just preparing for success. You’ll be summertime fine soon.

    From sleeve to loop

I had the DS or loop done 2/17/17 I lost 110 pounds in a year. But I also didn’t exercise like I should have. But I’m very satisfied with the results. Do to the switch of the intestines we don’t absorb a lot of calories or necessary nutrients so they feel the long term success is better. I don’t think it’s a standard to the amount of weight you lose. Every individual is different. It depends on your compliance and determination. Like they all say this is only a tool. I hope I helped

    SIPS Long Term Concerns

I had my DS February 2017. Best decision I ever made. I think the procedure is about 10 years old but that’s new in healthcare 🤣. The weight loss isn’t rapid but it’s steady and the long term success is better that’s why every gets revised to the DS. I pop 4-5 times a day because 60% of you small intestines is bypassed so the route is shorter and it smells horrible. Like nothing I’ve smelled before and I’m a nurse. 🤣🤣🤣. Almost worst than gangrene. Almost. With the DS the vitamins and protein intake in more because we are more at risks for malabsorption and malnutrition. I get the chewables. Of course they tell you to wait to drink. Ask your MD but Its a little different drinking afterwards. If you drink be around family or friends that will care for you. Oh fatty food are not your friend. You will see it later literally. If you decide to eat it anyway. Just don’t sleep on your favorite sheets 🤣🤣🤣. No lie. But im no longer a diabetic. No htn. No cholesterol issues. Just crazy and you can’t fix that. I did have my gallbladder removed and that was outpatient. Just meant I poop more. Invest in Imodium. Buy stock in it. But like with anything you have to do your part and your body will do the rest. Good luck. Keep me posted.

    DS Hick-up

Hi Martha, I’m Crystal. I had my DS February last year. So I don’t have much experience for long term success. So what I gathered is from your recovery from hysterectomy and infection that your current weight is approximately 177 lbs? What was your lowest weight? Martha, as a healthcare worker I can say I’m glad that you are better. I would just first realized that you are still not where you were. You can get back to where you are comfortable happy and complete. Your are at a good starting point and you have to stay positive. I would visit a Bariatric nutritionist for tips on how to get back. Return to the gym get a personal trainer if it’s in your budget and start out slow and work your way up. Also, the liver reduction diet might be a great way to jump start your body. But I’m not a professional and I would encourage you to seek advice from a medical professional. 😉. I hope I helped and didn’t hinder.

    Post Gallbladder Squirting

The gallbladder issue was caused from the weight loss. My weight loss surgeon did the procedure. As far as the phantom pains [emoji848]? That’s a question for your provider. I don’t have any gallbladder pains just the shits 🤣. So you might want to see what’s going on. Thank you

    Relationships

My husband and had a wonderful relationship prior to my surgery. He accepted me at my highest weight and my reasoning for surgery wasn’t for cosmetic reason but for health. Now I have a close friend and her relationship is just as shitty now as it was before then so it proves it doesn’t matter how you look if the person doesn’t care they just don’t care
  10. Public service announcement: if you don’t like talking about bowel movements, please don’t read any further. So 6 months after my DS I had to have my gallbladder removed laparoscopically. Well I thought all my problems were solved. Not! [emoji19]. So I’m right at 10 months post op DS and I am was us to have 4-5 five soft brown bowel movements daily. Post gallbladder movement especially within the last 3 months I have noticed I’m having 6-7 dark green pain bowel movement that wake me up at night at least 3 times and they are loose and grainy. Well I have increased my fiber. Added Imodium to try to at least get through the night. Took pepto, gas x, nexium, and zofran for nausea. Finally, I decided to speak with a GI health care professionals that first I should never be getup that many times at night and if it’s loose and green I’m leaking bile salts from my gallbladder being missing and since my small intestines aren’t able to absorb my colon is going haywire basically. So long story short it’s medication for this. Wechol, Colestid, or Questran. Speak with your health care provider. Your don’t have to suffer the squirts unnecessarily.

    Well, here we go!

I has the DS with single anastomoses. No regrets
  12. I can do bananas and cantaloupe.
  13. My surgeon stated with the resection of my bowels it's to be expected. And you should go every time you eat. He just states if it becomes a problem to take Imodium. The stools are soft formed. Since 60% of my small intestines are by passed I expect it just wondering if anyone else's spends more time on the commode than their desk at work.
  14. I feel like my gallbladder is acting up. I have woke up from a sleep with bitter yellow vomitus. My pcp doesn't seem to be concerned I want to see my surgeon
  15. I poop 3-4 times a day. And I push for about 100-130 grams of protein.
