I traveled about 5 weeks post op. I survived on tuna fish. Go to Walmart or another store. Starkist sales a to go pack 2.7/9 oz container of tuna fish. Really easy to pack. Baked fish if your location allows you to cook. Do you have protein shakes with you? Have you tried Fairlife Milk - higher protein and less sugar. Why not just say you are on restrictive diet? Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I made myself a promise before surgery. This would not be in vain. When I woke up in recovery, I knew God wasn't done with me yet. So that meant it was time to get busy learning to live again!! All I have done is follow the plans provided and committed myself to this journey. I walked routinely Day 1,2,3, etc. Even walked in the mall!! I started elliptical right after my post op appointment. I've committed myself to working out and watching my consumption. Trying to take advantage of the hormone imbalance and make major improvements in my lifestyle. I can tell you that in 4 months I've eaten out once, due to delayed flights. My wife and I spent a week in Jamaica, we committed to working out everyday and I requested special meals to be prepared. Learned to always pack extra food. Starkist has 2.9oz tuna fish to go cups. I've taken this to basketball games, planes, work, etc. Push yourself to try something new, your tastebuds are changing. I never enjoyed soup, however I've found an appreciation for soup. Sugar Free popsicles are what I consider a cheat snack. I prepare my meals and have taken full ownership. Because I'm saving so much money on food, I sometimes purchase the expensive high-end healthy snack/food item. Always carry water, always carry protein. I love Fairlife Milk - high protein and low sugar. Grocery store shopping takes time to read labels. Learn to do this. Get comfortable taking your time to eat. I am now lifting weights, doing cardio (I did 30min on StepMill last week- personal best!!). This morning, I did the Ladder-mill. Go to support group!! Take vitamins and supplements. Get comfortable setting timers, consumption is consumption. If I'm in a meeting with others I still have to get done what I need. No excuses and I'm not worried about them. I'm my new focus. You can do this journey. You made it to post op, you can survive. You signed the medical release form, you can do this part!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Have you tried counseling together or having him join you at support group? Has he gone to any Dr Appointments with you to hear about all of your health conditions? Maybe he needs to hear it from a medical professional. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Tomorrow, I will be 7 weeks post op (October 18)!!! This has been an amazing journey to date. I have committed to making this work and have lost over 20% of my excess body weight!!! PreOp 465lbs, now 405lbs. 1 rough 45min stretch post-op the first night home, needed pain meds but only took twice once home. Slept in my recliner the rest of the night, felt much better than flat bed. Diabetic Meds - Gone!!! Acid Reflux - Gone!!! Back Pain - Gone!! Knee Pain - Gone!! Blood Pressure - Down below normal ranges!!! Cholesterol- Down below normal ranges!! Blood Sugar/A1C - Down to normal ranges!!! Wearing clothes that are 3-5 years old!!! Walking stride is improving and moving faster!! Doing 45min of Cardio on Elliptical!!! Walked in the mall in the first couple of weeks!!! No Fast food in over 3 months!!! Not hungry, no cravings!!! My wife has stated that I have a positive disposition and have tackled this in the right manner. Doctor and nurses all say I am making great progress. I have moved beyond the purée stage and working to learn the soft diet stage. Taking my time!!! Advice to others.... 1 - Go to Support Group before/after surgery and get comfortable 2 - Find a person to share progress. 3 - Go to the grocery store and read labels. 4 - Walk, Walk, Walk - Advance to cardio machines if you have access 5 - Water, Water, Water 6 - Protein ( I started Protein shakes 2 months before just to get use to them) 7 - Be Patient (Trust the process) 8 - Vitamins and supplements 9 - Plan ahead (this was my weaknesses prior to surgery and one day after - I learned quick) 10 - Challenge your tastebuds to try new healthy foods!!!! All of the response have been great! Walking really helped me, gas ex, colace, water!!! Also think about your milk consumption, I had to switch to lactose free milk to help reduce gas as well. Find a position that is comfortable to pass gas and make this your go to body position. For example my mornings are very productive for gas while laying in the bed. Hang in there!!!
