  1. I was sleeved by Dr. L in January.. his office is a bit disorganized and they always seem to be running late but my surgery went well and I think he is worth the wait! I didn't know Kim quit... I'm guessing it was very sudden and might be related to her new baby. The office has been having a bit of an overhaul (it used to have one primary nurse and now there are two nurses) but I think everyone who works there truly wants the best for the patients and will do what they can to make things go smoothly. I hope everything is resolved soon and they can get you in to see a new nutritionist!

    Any college students?

i'm in law school right now so not college but a lot of similar challenges! i do have my own apartment so i can cook at home but there are so many events held on campus with food and lots of breakfast/dinner meetings/study groups which i'm not sure how i will get out of... I just keep on telling myself that it will be worth it! I'm getting sleeved next week (which is the first week of the semester) so I definitely think it can be done while in school!

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

I know! I can't believe it's coming up so soon! I'm falling miserably at my liquid diet but I decided that today is going to be the first day I don't cheat. Gonna be 100% on point! How are you doing with your pre-op diet?

  9. I'm having my first consult with Dr. Lutfi from Presence St. Joseph on Thursday. I've only heard great things about him (how great he is with patients, he's written a ton of papers, and actually teaches other surgeons how to do surgery). I don't know if he is in your network, but I'll let you know how it goes!
  10. Thanks PorkChopExpress! It seems like the first meeting is just a way to set expectations for me and for me to ask questions. I think I'm going to make a list of questions so I don't forget anything! From reading the forums it looks like most surgeons require patients to see a nutritionist, a cardiologist, get a psych eval, get an endoscopy and get a sleep study. Are these requirements for insurance or for the surgeon? Fingers crossed this whole process moves smoothly!
  11. Hi everyone! I'm a long-time lurker on these forums and I finally decided to take action and meet with a bariatric surgeon. My PCP referred me to a surgeon affiliated with her hospital and I'll be meeting him on Thursday!! I'm so nervous and excited!! My question is, what can I expect to happen at this first meeting? Is this just an opportunity for me to ask questions? Will he ask me questions? Will he examine me (i.e., should I wear my good undies haha)? I'm so excited and so nervous. My insurance has no requirements (other than a referral from my PCP) but I think I might have undiagnosed BED and I'm worried that would disqualify me. I'm also worried that they will say that I haven't tried hard enough to lose weight without surgery. I've been dieting on and off since I was in middle school and my mom enrolled me in weightwatchers, so I know how to diet, I just can't seem to keep it off. Will the surgeon see that I know how to lose weight and not want to perform the surgery? Thanks for your insights!
