I went for my final GI clearance today and although everything came back "clean", the gastroenterologist suggested I have an endoscopy just to take a peak at everything to make sure that all looked good. Has anyone else done this or been asked to do this? He said it was my choice but that he highly recommended going in and checking everything out before anything was "altered".

I have BCBS and they covered it.. Really!? Do you think it varies by what state you are in? Well now I am really confused!

Hi everybody! I just had my initial consultation yesterday with my surgeon to discuss options. I am definitely leaning towards the SIPS out of all of the options. I have one question for you all. My surgeon explained that my insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) will not cover SIPS because it is too "different" from traditional DS because of the single anastomosis. They have found that BCBS will cover it if they do the surgery with a double anastomosis. Have any of you had this done for insurance reasons? I am a little nervous about choosing the "new kid on the block" although everything sounds great and it makes me more nervous to get an altered version of the newer surgery.
