What does this mean to you...

Well if you trust his word, which I assume you do or you wouldn't be with him. Maybe it was his way of expressing love...I mean that statement could be taken several different ways. I obviously don't know the history of your relationship or what circumstances lead to you two getting together...but, if you think he's being sincere then I'd move forward. If you think he's hiding something or not telling you the truth about why he said what he did, then I'd look into it further. Sit down with him and have a long talk, tell him how you feel and why something like that would make you feel bad. Not that long ago, my DH and I were having MAJOR fights DAILY. I sunk into a deep, dark depression over my weight and didn't do anything all day. I just sat around the house....it was causing arguments because my DH couldn't figure out what my problem was. I didn't want him around me I just wanted to sit in a depressed funk and eat like a pig. We talked about my problems and he offered a shoulder to cry on, we're much better now and don't fight at all (we never fought much before I started gaining a lot of weight). Communication is key in situations like this, it's obviously bothering you...you're not going to be "ok" with it until you know the exact reasons it was said. I can't say I blame you, I feel bad you're feeling so unsure.

    3 months banded then removed

Wow, the doc just removed the band and didn't discuss it with you??? I think it kind of sucks he didn't at least discuss the POSSIBILITY of having to have a removal done when he spoke to you prior to surgery. That's really sad, and I'm sorry you went through it. Hopefully, you'll be able to be re-banded in the near future. Grats on the 50lb weight loss!! You should be very proud of yourself!

Who's the man Obama or MCcain?

I'm going McCain, because I want to keep HC and her Universal Healthcare out of the white house. I don't want to end up paying VAT tax like they do in the UK. Plus, McCain understands the military and how it works. I want our boys home just as much as the next person, but I feel we need to finish what we started.

What does this mean to you...

Hmm this is a tough one; it could have many meanings. I mean, who's to say we're MEANT to be with anyone???? That could be his clumsy way of saying he really is in love with you (VERY CLUMSY). Now, in all honesty if my DH said that to me?? I'd freak out...go postal on his ass and demand further explanation. Our conversation would've ended with something like: "Well if you don't feel like it's meant to be, why don't you get out and find someone you're meant to be with..." followed by assorted bad language. In my opinion, you need to discuss this with him...he needs to give you a straight answer as to WHY he said what he did...and what did he MEAN. No pussy footing around...clear, direct answers. Since I don't know the context it was said in (were you fighting?, loving? etc) thats also going to have impact on the true meaning of this statement. However it turns out, I wish you luck. =)
  8. I'm not familiar with doctors that do Lap Band in Tulsa, but I can give you some insight on OKC docs. I'm planning on having my surgery at St. Anthony's hospital by Dr. Holsaeter. He's office is located near the hospital and he has an excellent reputation. He's in a group with two other surgeons...Dr. Holsaeter doesn't preform any other WLS besides Lap Band. Here is their website: Timothy J. Eldridge, MD & Svein M. Holsaeter, MD :: Home There is another surgeon in Norman, Oklahoma that is very well known, Dr. Ronnie Keith is his name. I didn't choose him (even though I live in Moore) because he doesn't file some of the pre-required(s) with insurance. I was required to visit a nutritionist for 3 months prior to being approved through Aetna. I was not willing to pay full price for his nutritionists w/o being reimbursed. He also requires you buy your first 2 wks of Protein powder through his office ONLY (that has to be paid up front) another stipulation I was not willing to do. He is however, an excellent surgeon with a pretty spotless reputation. He is also a very, very nice man (very down to earth). He likes to do RNY's instead of Lap Bands and I noticed at the seminar that he discussed the RNY MUCH MORE then the Lap Band procedure. Just wasn't for me, but he does a lot of great work for others. His website is: Dr. Keith Surgery another site that talks about Dr. Keith and Dr. Nelson (the lady that's in practice with him) is OKlahoma WEIGHT LOSS OPtions. Hope that helps!
  9. Wow, I'm so sorry that happened to you! How scary! It sounds like you're recovering well and I'm very happy that you're still exploring WLS options. I've never heard of this happening before...but WOW it's sure something to keep in mind. Did you have your heart tested pre-op (EKG, Stress Test etc)? I haven't been banded yet, but my risk factors (high weight, high BP) are a concern for me. I'm just glad you're ok! I'll be thinking about you.

Grats on your surgery!!! How exciting! :tt2:
  12. Ohhhh another question...do the powdered protein drinks need to be mixed with milk??? Or can you use something else, (water etc). Just curious.
  13. I think I'm going to run out to GNC today and see what I can find. If I can just try some of the singles, I'll know what I can tolerate and if I need a case I can always buy it online. :tt2: Thanks for all the info and advice...I know I don't have a surgery date yet, but it's important to me that I'm prepared before hand so I'm not rushing around trying to find Protein supplements and end up buying stuff that's going to make me gag!! hehe I also ordered unjury samples....I've heard some people say Unjury is disgusting. I didn't even bother with the unflavored, since that is supposedly the worst? What is everyone's favorite Protein drinks that they know of off hand? I'm interested drinks without sugar and low carbs.

    I know I'm being dumb....

You and I are in the same boat, I'm scheduled for a mammogram next week as well (will be my first too) and I'm scared shitless. I'm also a huge baby when it comes to cravings and I'm fairly weak when it comes to resisting temptation. However, as I've aged it's gotten a "little" better. I really want to quit smoking for my health and for this surgery!!! I want to heal well and not have issues because of my habit. ALL the women on my mother's side smoked...my grandmother lived to be 97 and didn't quit smoking until the nursing home threatened to kick her out if she lit up in her room again, lol. She died in her sleep of old age...my mom is 65 and smokes also, but not heavily (like it matters how much...I know) maybe 5 cigs a day. She just had a chest x-ray when she was in the hospital for colon issues and checked out fine. I know in my heart that none of these are excuses for me to continue smoking...I mean especially at MY weight it has to be putting strain on my heart. Plus, I'm tired of buying them and dealing with them, as much as I'm tired of dealing with food ruling my life. I think it's time I let go of the things controlling me, and start controlling myself.
  18. Ok, I'm waiting on Aetna to approve my Lap Band, I've met their guidelines and I feel pretty confident I won't have many issues (we hope). Anyway, I went to see my surgeon yesterday and I asked him what pre-op tests he does. He told me the only major one they do (besides blood work and chest xray) is the upper GI (can't wait - har har). Well, I also had an appointment later that afternoon with my PCP so I told her I wanted my heart checked (I know...I'm over-reacting). To make me feel better she's doing an EKG and a ECG next week, lol. I'm really not all "that" worried about my heart but, I do have high BP and I just want to make sure my ticker is doing okay before I have surgery. So, she also orders a chest xray, I told her my surgeon was planning on doing one, and she said "Thats fine, I want to also" I guess because I've never had one. Ok, so now I'm scared....I smoke...omg I'm having visions of lung issues...I can't stop worrying about it. OMG...make it stop...... I know I'm acting like a child.....but I'm really kind of in a panic, because cancer runs in my family. (I know, my fault for smoking to begin with) Bleh...well I'm having it done tomorrow to just get it over with. I'm done being a big baby (for now).
  19. MicheleK

    why a chest xray/ekg?

My surgeon also wants an upper GI included in my chest x-ray/blood work package, lol. I think that's pretty standard for this type of surgery. I wasn't required to get an EKG, but my primary care doc decided to do one anyway. The more tests the better as far as I'm concerned. Just means my surgery will go that much smoother! My insurance covers all pre-op testing. I think that's fairly standard with insurance companies, if they will pay for the surgery they'll pay for pre-op testing. It prevents future issues and more expense in the long run.
  20. Thanks for the info Chrissi. I will remember that about the fruit punch and nectar peach...I'm actually not a big fan of fruit punch OR peach flavored stuff (I do like FRESH peaches however, lol) I've made note to stay away!

How cool!!! Happy B'day!! =) I can't wait to get my "new" Birthday date!! I say we both wish for 25!!! If you're going to wish, might as well make it a good one!!
  24. Wow Juli, you are such an inspiration...your weight loss is nothing less then spectacular!! Juli has a really good point. I've been visiting this site and reading everything I can get my hands on regarding lap band. Plus, I attend local support groups for pre and post op bandsters. My surgeon was SHOCKED at the questions I asked him the last time I was in. He told me "You've been doing your homework". I'd take Juli's advice to heart pnuts, I read her posts frequently and find her suggestions are always right on the money.
  25. No pre-op diet?? Hrmmm...if you're insurance is willing to pay for the procedure have you thought about seeking out another doc?? Getting a 2nd opinion maybe?? I know a lot of doctors do a pretty strict pre-op diet just for liver shrinking purposes.
