  1. I really hate this feeling and I'm hoping it goes away. When I hit at about 2 hours after having eaten I begin to get this empty, gnawing sensation - I don't know how else to describe it - that starts at my esophagus. It's kind of like an acidy stomach but it's about an empty stomach. I can drink a bunch of Water to temporarily pause the sensation but then once that works through it's back. The only way to stop it is to eat. Anyone else have something like this? Does it go away ? I'm only at 7 weeks now so expect things to change I just really want/need to hear this goes away. I can't imagine living the rest of my life like this.

    "The Stall" has lifted!

Congrats!! I'm in a stall right now but I'm on my period, I also have advanced to solid foods so I'm eating more and blah blah blah. I'm glad that I've read so much about the stalls so that I'm not freaking out. lol! I think I'm lucky, this is only my first stall!
  3. Really?? OMG that would be great if that what this is!!! I can't take omeprazole or anything like it yet because it's an extended release tablet and I have to crush them meaning it all hits my stomach at once. I'm praying I can start in a few weeks.

    Doed it really hurt?

I hurt pretty bad but I had the VGS, Gallbladder removal and huge hernia repair. My surgery was long and my recovery will be about 8 weeks. I was in a great deal of pain and was constantly hitting the pain meds button. When I left the hospital the ride home was nearly unbearable. I had to extend my liquid vicodin use to 2 weeks instead of 1, I am in my 6th week now and I'm finally feeling like a normal human again. I'm on soft foods and transitioning to moist, whole chicken. Super excited. I'm starting to feel really good about this but I went through a few really rough Patches and a few weeks of total regret. Thank god I'm coming out of it and normalizing!! Pain was there but I hope that it will be a distant memory soon and all I will be feeling is joy at my new life.
  5. I use VitaGene. I did 23&Me years ago so all I did was download and then upload my DNA data, right now I'm just getting the post surgery chewables, then after next month I'll be getting vitamins designed for me based on my DNA. Pretty cool!

When is it safe to eat pureed food?

Plans vary, mine is 2 weeks full liquid, 2 weeks pureed, 2 weeks soft and then if ready transition to "regular" food. I did 3 weeks full liquid because I just wasn't able to do pureed, it hurt still. Then I did pureed and moved to soft after a week of pureed.

I might be premature on this

Just make sure you are healed enough for that kind of travel, bring along anti-nausea pills just in case!!
  8. I would check with your surgeon, I had a lot of various pain and some was intense, I checked with doc on all. Yes, I was a nuisance - I was OK with that. lol

    Drinking and eating

lol@@Butterflywarrior The truth is I'm calling my surgeon's office so much I started just making a list and limiting my questions to them to once a week. haha! I've asked them all of these things and so much more. I told them that I'm making up for all the people that don't contact them at all, just bringing up their average. hahaha! I don't have a nutritionist, with my program it's done through the surgeon's office.

    Drinking and eating

Yeah, I get a very dry mouth so I just take these TINY sips, no more than a few drops. It's necessary and I choke less. lol! I can't believe someone asked me why I got the surgery if I wasn't willing to follow the rules! So RUDE! DIdn't even ask if I've talked to professionals about it.

    Does anyone regret having surgery?

That's where I'm getting my carbs from. Also, bread, pasta and rice expand in the stomach, right? So we have to avoid that for like 6 months I think?

What exercises can I do in the meantime?

walk on an incline, that will help the tush. I had a whole bunch done during the surgery and I can't resume real exercise till after 8 weeks.

    Protein pills?

BINGO! lol! That's me. I hate the protein shakes so much my body refuses to swallow. It sucks so much. I'm now getting most of my protein in via food thank god.

    Drinking and eating

I don't know if I can maintain it for life. I have always needed a sip of water while eating. I try to avoid it as much as possible but sometimes it just becomes necessary. But not gulping or even a drink. When I say "sip" I literally mean a minute sip water. I figure if I'm allowed to have saliva I can handle a tiny sip or two while eating. I've actually cut out as much salt as possible so to help avoid the need for a sip. loL!

    Protein pills?

Oh good!! I wanted to ask about this as well!!
  16. I was told before I had the surgery that people could tell. But at 5' 1" every little bit is noticed.

    Sleeping

I wan't given any guidelines on that, but I'm in my 6th week post op and I still sleep with a pillow wedge as I call it. lol! I assume it will be months until I try sleeping flat. I'm too scared of the acid pain.

    Alcohol

I don't think it will ever go back to how it was for you before. 1, I think we are suppose to severely limit our alcohol intake until we've met our goals and maintained. 2, Once you lose weight your body's tolerance changes and you metabolize alcohol more quickly, less body mass to distribute. So the likelyhood is that your tolerance will never be the same again.

2nd day of puree and feeling sick

Premiere Protein made me sick, can't drink it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Vomited

I havent had that happen yet. The gross thing that happens to me is I have saliva or mucus come up after eating. Almost like my stomach says "here, hold this, I need to make some space". I eat privately because of this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hot chocolate protein shake

I like Healthwise Hot Chocolate. It's got the 15 grams protein and tastes great. The downside is it causes me to have a bit of an acidy stomach. So I chew a Pepcid Complete berry chewable before hand. lol

    Can't eat

I was sleeved on 10/10 and am still in the soft food stage. I think you are skipping ahead. Go back to puréed or soft foods. My surgeon said I can stay in phases for as long as I feel comfortable and then keep trying slowly to move on to the next. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    DIET

I had mashed potatoes and they were glorious. It's not a cheat item per say but it's all carbs w/some Protein powder and a bit of sour cream/fake butte, but again, GLORIOUS! Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
