100 Pounds Lost!
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to RussT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I started out at 470 so when you're that size you lose more at the beginning I think. All I can say is I follow the food plan my doctor suggested and I weigh and measure everything, plus I swim 35 minutes before work every day. I've noticed that I will lose a few pounds one week and then the following week I lose nothing. That seems to be what's been happening for over a month. Every other week I go down 3-5 pounds it seems. For me I find I will drop 10 lbs and then my body goes on a 2 - 3 week freeze and sometimes a bump up a lb or two and then I'll drop another 10-15 lbs and it will happen again. I don't mind it at all because I'm following the guidelines and feeling great! And I don't want to drop insane amounts and then just gain them back. I like that my body takes a little bit to adjust, find it's new balance and then lose again. -

Almost two weeks post operation
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Coco76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alrighty!! This is when we need to start thinking outside the box. It's good you are talking about these cravings and coming to people for help!! That's the right thing to do and will help you be successful!!! Ok, so here is what I did. #1) Emotional soothing. I can't eat food so what do I do? First, I cried. I just let myself feel sorry for myself. It SUCKS!! We just aren't the normal people that can handle food without hurting ourselves so we've done something major. It's important you don't ignore these feelings and allow yourself to feel them. And then go wash your face, apply a beauty mask, sit in the tub, light candles, listen to your favorite soothing music. Phantom of the Opera? Some Elton John? A little death metal? Whatever it is for you, turn on that music. Scrub your feet and hands, just do things that pamper yourself. Call up your bestie and tell her you need an emotional support mani-pedi! lol! Also, go and ask for hugs, go cuddle someone. Have a pet? Go and cuddle it for a while. When you feel yourself needing food in an emotional capacity it's important to first figure out where the emotions are coming from, feel them, and then sooth yourself in a non-eating way. I also craft. I watch TV and do crafts now. Sequin Art?? Oh yeah. humming bird latch hook rug, you betcha!! lol! Keep your hands and eyes busy during commercials. #2) Food cravings. Now is the time to stock up on sugar free pudding, on chicken Noodle Soup, things that are sugar free sweet and low fat savory. Believe me, when you just need some chocolate to survive that sugar free pudding is gonna be a life saver. I put some whipped cream on mine as well. FULLL FAT. lol! Also, get some soft cheeses you love for when you are soft foods. these little treats can feel like cheating when really they are well within your plan. #3) Feeling like you are going to fail. I think we are all afraid of this. I mean, the reason we are at this stage is because we have failed at every other attempt to control our eating and our weight. That fear is perfectly natural and healthy. But you need to make sure you really square with yourself what you are willing to do and what you understand your new life to be. It takes time. I was sure I would fail too, but as I progressed through the food stages I really struggled and dealt with some depression. I felt I had made a huge mistake, that my life was over. But that passes too. Because once you graduate to full food and figure your habits out, and the weight keeps dropping, you start to feel better than you ever have. I'm happier now than I have been since I was a child and I'm 42 now. But you HAVE to make a pact with yourself that you will follow the program. It's not near as hard as it seems right now. This is an exciting time!! Hang in there!! -
3 Days Post Op

oh that is great you are feeling well enough to contemplate not taking the pain meds!! Keep up on the miralax. Right now you might not really have much because you aren't taking much in. But with the pain meds you can dry out and stop-up FAST. -
Suggestions needed..............
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to chuswysly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try non-spicey Butter chicken (it's not high in fat like it sounds), it's SOO good. I make it by hand but there are some fair grocery store versions. I'm in CA though so it's easier for me to get indian food. Really, if I were you I would start looking at vegetarian recipes. before the surgery I purchased a number of these books and most of them have vegetarian sections. All of them are high Protein low carb centric obviously. Stay AWAY from the crackers!! lol! They will sabotage you so fast your head will spin. These have some great vegitarian recipies: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=bariatric+cookbooks&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Abariatric+cookbooks My favorite is: https://www.amazon.com/Eating-Well-After-Weight-Surgery/dp/1569244537/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484957153&sr=8-1&keywords=bariatric+cookbooks You can probably find them cheaper elsewhere, this was just a good way of finding all of them for you to see. -
Question... Just had 2 oikos yogurts
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to trenth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess my question would be how long did it take you to eat two of them? Yogurt is like liquid and it will go through you more quickly. It was on my Full liquid diet list so it was considered a liquid. I can drink and eat "liquids" in much higher volumes than dense Proteins. I'd recommend only eating the serving size your doctor sets (4oz, 2oz, etc). Because the thing is...you never know when you are going to eat too much right now and make yourself very sick. Can doesn't mean should. lol! Lots of people tend to think their stomach isn't as small as they were told because at first they can consume what feels like large amounts of the liquid. But as soon as dense food goes in you will feel the difference right away. -
Bad nausea

Painful burning/ ripping
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to krissyvsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My incisions were a BITCH. lol! I love them though because they represent this huge thing I'm doing. But had a lot of that kind of pain. And then 4 weeks in I was constipated and the easing of that caused me to tear one of my incisions and my healing was set back by 2 weeks. Just move as little as possible and take your pain meds or liquid tylenol. -
1 Day Post Op -- Hard Time
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to courtney.rose.a.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it a dissolving under the tongue pill or the kind you have to swallow? Also, that kind of vomiting is not good. You might have to go back to the hospital. are you on the West Coast? Can you call your surgeons office again? Don't worry about being a nuisance, just call. Does the hospital you had your surgery in have a bariatric unit you were on? You can call them. Or just go. -
Having an overload of feelings
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Jenn1818's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh the joys of weight loss hormones. Us woman just get ALL the fun! So on top of everything, you know, the emotionally massive act of removing our stomach and changing the way we live our lives to almost it's core, we also have to deal with the extra hormones our bodies are flooded with post surgery. I think I read here that woman are like 3xs as fertile after weight loss surgery because of the hormones. Anyway I think you have to perfectly natural and normal things happening: The effects of what we've done, which means our means of self-soothing are gone mostly and we can't make ourselves feel better like we used too and The hormone effect. So what I did was just ride it out. I cried, I got angry, I felt the emotions as they came and rejoiced when I started feeling happy and normal again. It was hard. Hang in there, it gets so much better but first we have to go through the rough stuff. -
My sleeve surgery seems almost too easy. So far.

I had a meltdown :(
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to SKrae430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi There! I had a few of those meltdowns as well!! Here is what they told me: Don't be so hard on yourself. Just keep at it and it gets better. You will not be uncomfortable, in pain and vomiting for the rest of your life. Right now your body is recovering and it's not an easy process. You should ask for anti-nausea pills, the ones that dissolve under the tongue. That will help greatly. This WILL get better but it's also OK to be feeling scared and angry and regret. These are things we need to feel and process. And they will go away for 99.998% of us. I spent 2 weeks crying non-stop. It was week 4-6.Man were they rough. I was miserable, I had been really sick for the year before that and I was ready to be feeling better, I felt horrible for myself that I felt so miserable and I'd given up the one thing that always made me feel better: food. But here is what happens next. You begin to walk a little faster. You look at your hands and realize you can see more of your bones. You can suddenly wrap your arms around yourself. You can get on a bus and walk down the isle without your hips knocking into every person. You get to the point where you think: I just want to RUN, to use my limbs and it feels so GOOD! Life is about to change for you in so many good ways but first we have to go through this gauntlet. You can do it!! You are the hero to your own story, you just can't feel it quite yet. Hang in there friend, it's OK to feel this horrible right now but please know it gets better. -
Dizziness and sweating after food!
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to sanaa.a's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that VGS don't get dumping syndrome but I had a bit too much of a sugary thing and I was miserable for an hour. Nauseas, feel like I can't move, something feels really wrong, I have to lie down. Then it goes away. It's happened 3 times since my 10/10/16 surgery. -
First day of solids nausea :(
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to roadtofit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your new tummy is figuring out how to work again. I needed the full 8 weeks before I started feeling normal, before swallowing and eating wasn't painful, before I could tolerate stuff. It's very common to have this feeling of nausea when trying foods out on your new stomach. I read that a lot of people have a hard time with eggs at first. (I hate eggs so no eggies for me.) -
Calories and carbs? Need input!

I am lucky if I crest 850 a day. Some days I might get up to 1000 like when it was this huge birthday bash and I had some extra carby treats. But in general I'm hitting 800's a day. -
3 days after bypass surgery
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Greg626's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I barely remember my first week or so due to all the vicodin I was on. Yes it hurts, yes it goes away. 2 weeks and the worst of it will be gone. 12 weeks and you'll most likely feel back to normal except for figuring out how to eat again. -

Whiny moment :(
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Kirbykendall06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hard time finding foods to eat. You are not out of the phases yet though. Once you are try things like a low sugar bbq sauce on shredded pork and a few pickles! YUM! Focus on fun Proteins. I've also been loving some sloppy joes, butter chicken, pork chops, etc. You just have to try lots of things to find what you like and what your new tummy likes. It is a little depressing and I know it's a struggle but you will find your way. I now go for fancy Protein dishes. I just haven't tried beef yet because I was told it's hard to digest. -
Vomiting every time i lie down
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to irwyen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there something stronger than Pepcid he can give you? Are your anti-nausea pills dissolvable under the tongue? I used 9 pillows for 10 weeks post op. I formed a big pillow wedge and kept myself at a really high up angle. I slept great too. But that's a lot of vomiting. when was the last time you talked to your doctor about that? -

I love going to eat out now. I don't care if I order just a tiny thing or a whole plate and take most of it home. It's so nice to be out and back to normal life. I just miss my wine. lol! -

first post-- protein question
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to SKrae430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premiere Protein makes me throwup. I can't drink most protein shakes. The unflavored protein or chicken broth flavored in mashed potatoes was good for me but too many carbs.
