    4 month stall?

Make sure to be measuring yourself as well. I have lots of little stalls but I'm still dropping in size. I'm just walking, running stairs, drinking my water and eating my protein. I keep increasing my exercise as I feel lighter and easier to move. This will only keep going as we keep going. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Vacation at 8 weeks post op

I think it's one of those things that should be fine but bring anti-nausea pills, lots of protein powder and take it slow when you need to, ENJOY your trip!!!

    Hiatal hernia

I had my gallbladder out and a hiatal hernia repair all at the same time, so I really don't know how to differentiate the sensations between the two.

    Plateau, not a stall

I'd cut out all carbs, I'd stick to 850 calories a day and I'd add in running up a flight of stairs 3 times or as much as you can. Calorie restriction and increase in exercise and water should get you to goal in a few weeks.

    Options plz

I just had to keep trying things out. I search for recipes that are low carb, high protein and then I look for foods that sound good. It's practice. Now I make a great low carb Chili, sloppy joe, butter chicken, teriyaki chicken and pork loin. IMO it's important to spend the time to make good, really good, homemade dishes, I just focus on a main dish - no sides. I make enough for two different types of protein dishes 2xs a day each for the week. I found that it's so important to me that the food tastes good, then I am willing to eat. Other than that I then kind of forget about it until I suddenly realize I haven't eaten for over a day.

    Hungry all the time?

are you on an acid reducer such as Prilosec? For me I had constant "hunger" pains but it ended up it was acid indigestion and it just feels different now. Once I got on those pills the sensations went away with in 2 days.

    Pain on left

I couldn't even get myself into and out of bed for 2 weeks. lol! And that was while I was on a steady dose of vicodin.

    Cheated

I eat the toppings off of pizza all the time!! I just order a chicken topping and then eat the topping off of one or two pieces. You don't have to deny yourself this, just do it smart!! You are doing GREAT, you didn't cheat, you made a choice you aren't happy with. Learn how to satisfy those cravings without making yourself feel bad. You are doing great, keep up the good work. All guilt does for us is put us back into a bad head space. Not worth it! Have fun and enjoy this process.

    More milk or water?

Just watch out for fat and sugars in milk. But yes, it was recommended for me too. But I'm diabetic and it was spiking my sugars back then. I should try it again, I'm off all meds now!!

    Solids still hurt

I think this is a question for your surgeon. You might have a stricture. This is not normal in my experience. Nothing like that actually.

    Burp/throw up a little

yes, happened to me a lot in the first 12 weeks. Out tummies are just so small still and we are like babies. So just as it's easy for a baby to spit up, same for us. or for me at least. That's how I felt. Finally calmed down at 12 weeks. STill will happen now and then if I eat too much or if I forget and drink water too soon after eating.

    Gallbladder removal

I had the VGS, gallbladder removal and hernia repair all that the same time. You do run the risk of needing to go into emergency surgery to remove your gallbladder but mostly not. For a little context, I went through 18 months of gallbladder attacks before they figured it out and even THEN they only removed it at the same time as my VGS surgery. And I was put in ICU once and in the hospital for a week a separate time due to the gallbladder. lol! Chances are you will just have to suffer with the gallstones until the surgery. But be on the lookout for any pancreatic attack symptoms as thats what happened to me when I threw a gallstone and it blocked my pancreas. F'd me up but good.

    Medicine

I'd only inquire about getting them in liquid form. I wasn't allowed to take pills for 8 weeks.

    feeling discouraged

You lost .78 lbs a day. That's AMAZING! This isn't magic, it won't melt off right away. It's going very fast and will continue to do so. Please don't be discouraged, especially with these kinds of results!! My surgery was on 10/10, I have spent HALF that time not losing a single pound. But I keep losing inches, I'm working out as much as I can and I'm converting fat into muscle. This is not a linear straight line process. There will be ups and downs. I like to say our Metabolism is like an elusive mythical creature. It does what it wants. It doesn't like the body losing weight so quickly so it will slooooow down it's processes dramatically. And then be like OH DIP! I need to drop some lbs! and then whammo, you've lost 5 lbs over night. That's how it works for me sometimes. I just keep at it. Drinking my water, running up the stairs as much as I can, eating protein and staying away from carbs. This is gonna take about 8 -10 months if you keep at it dilligently and stay focused. Don't let yourself get discouraged this soon with numbers like 22 lbs lost, that is a fantastic #! We have to take our wins and our weight loss with great joy whenever we can.

Strange issues after sleeve surgery anyone?

when we reduce our calories to an extreme low (the pre and post op diet) our senses become stronger. W aren't eating food so it usually takes about 3 weeks to really get the smell and taste changes. it's so weird too. A lot of that goes away when you go back to real food. Just an FYI. Not all for everyone but soon. The spitting and slimies are also normal. I went through that for about 6 weeks.

    Clear protein

I might try this, thanks!! I don't do well with the protein shakes so I'm all food now for my protein, but I'm always willing to try something new!

    Chewing on ice

Same rule applies. I used to be an ice chewer but since the surgery I prefer room temp water so no more ice for me, so weird! But my teeth are happy. lol!

    Preventing constipation TMI

MIralax is a miracle. I used Colace, one pill, when I was constipated a few weeks ago. I passed out in the middle of the night. Ends up it is a possible complication from using it. Had no idea. The pain and discomfort was so heinous, than that horrible feeling where I actually considered I might be dying and then I woke up on the ground. lol! So I'd just go with one cap-full of Miralax and forgo the insane midnight drama.

    I'm starving

When was the last time you contacted your doctor about this? It seems to me if you can't eat for 4 days you are in jeopardy of landing in the hospital from dehydration. Call your surgeon's office and tell them you can't eat or drink for over 96 hours and ask if you should just go to the ER. It really is that serious if you can't take in liquids at this point. Are you even able to eat any solid foods at all?

    I'm starving

Agreed. 3 weeks? Yeah, normal. 3 months? Houston, I think we have a problem.

How to get rid of back fat and bra overhang?

Get a compression camisole, it will help smooth you out. https://www.google.com/search?q=compression+camisole&oq=compression+cami&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l4.6247j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=compression+camisole&tbm=shop&*

    I'm starving

oh, I wanted to add, if you feel something is wrong you need to be your own advocate. If you are still having the problem and you start to feel unwell, call your surgeon back. Tell them what your concerns are, I was a total f'ing nuisance to my surgeon's office the first 6 weeks post op. But they didn't fire me as a patient and I'm doing fantastically now. But I'm not kidding when I say I called them once a day for the first 3 weeks.

    I'm starving

I struggled to get even 4 ounces in for the first 6 weeks. however, I was able to sip slowly all day long. How much can you take in at one time right now, in oz's? As others said, our stomachs are swollen for weeks after. My doc told me at my 6 week post op that it was still swollen then. I can now eat over 4 oz but it took a long time.

    Food

Oh, and my final thing, substitute the sugars with Stevia or Splenda. You can get regular sugar powdered sugar and brown sugar. I use less of the fake stuff since it's sweeter. And finally, Don't be afraid to use honey. The flavor goes a long way and you don't have to use as much. This is why it's so important to do your homework and try out recipes. It took me at least a month to narrow down to a handful of recipes I love with substituting carbs and dialing the seasonings. Never underestimate the benefit of a well cooked meal.

    Food

I make and eat teriyaki chicken, tandoori chicken or butter chicken, pork chili, chicken marsala (no carbs), etc. My trick is this - make GOOOD food, take the time to do a delicious recipe once a week. Then you have a fabulous dish to come home to or eat at work. I found that when I made a big gourmet dish to eat during the week I never once even think of eating crap. I am so excited to eat my great food. So my tip is to take the time to source as many recipes as you can for low carb low fat high protein dishes and then cook until you find the ones that make you happy. It's important to put in the time and energy into to this so you have your set of recipes. Now all I do is quick stop at the grocery store once a week, grab my items and then I cook the meals. I also don't do sides. I only do a main course. So last week it was chili and maryland crab cakes. I made them on Saturday and then ate them all week through Friday. This week it's pork tenderloin and ham/turkey croquettes. Again, all homemade so it's inexpensive and delicious.
