Walking on treadmill
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to arringtonc49's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
once your Doc clears you than go to it!! ANY form of walking is good for us. If a treadmill is how you want to start out than I say that's awesome! That's how I started out and now I'm averaging 13K steps a day. (and I work full time, so it's very possible!) -

There is nothing off my diet either, the doc said I have no restrictions, even alcohol. But that my diet needs to be protein focused and water heavy. lol! So I have a bite of stuff now and then but in general I'm pretty full and satisfied with my homemade low carb high protein meals. -

LittleLizzieLilliput replied to dg371's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loathe every single protein drink I've tried except mine from a program I was on. Postop it was really unjury chicken soup that get my protein alive. LOL! -

2 years 20 lbs in 3 months
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to cockapoomom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The protein shake was a doctor monitored and recommended diet that worked successfully for me to lose over 100 lbs. I did it for a year. My only recommendation was for her to do it for 4 weeks. As a reset. She might not need a fad diet but she was asking for suggestions. That is mine. And my doctors based on our last visit. He said that going back to the pre and post surgical diet protocol short term is absolutely OK. -
2 years 20 lbs in 3 months
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to cockapoomom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there! So my recommendation is to go back to a pure liquid protein diet. I'd do that for 4 weeks and then go through the post surgical protocol diet. I'd go back to the calorie restriction. I lost my 1st 100lbs doing a medical liquid diet. 700-800 calories a day, drink 5 shakes and at least 64 ozs of water. You need to hit the Reset Button again. It's OK, You are gonna be OK. YOu know how strong you are since you did this before. You know what to do it's just hard to not satisfy our food urges. Try to remember what it felt like to wake up full of energy, that bounce and pride in your step, feeling excited to be outside. There are so many great things out there for us. Try to focus on that, not on the fact that you might have back-slid a little. You can take care of this!! You totally got this. You have the knowledge, the tools, now you just need to pull yourself up and do what you need to. It's OK to to have a set back. It's OK to fail sometimes. Honestly. Just get yourself back on track and you are gonna feel AMAZING!!! -
Is Smooth Peanut Butter OK?
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Bogie61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you should be OK but take it slow. It's smooth but dense. You will be surprised at how quickly you fill up. personally I have about 1, or at most 2 TBLS of peanut butter a day. At night after a full day of good eating and lots of exercising I will have my peanut butter while watching TV around 7 or so. I was actually kind of scared to because someone here had said to not eat it and it will cause you to gain weight due to the fat and carbs, but I haven't found that to be true at all for me. And it's been a joy to bring it back into my diet. -
6 months post op...CAN'T EAT!!!
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to feelfatnomore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That doesn't sound good, I'm so sorry to read what you've been going through. I'm also glad you've been working with your surgeon. My only recommendation is to just keep experimenting and trying. Try fish, seafood, soft meats and eggs maybe? I don't pay any attention to veggies. I take my Vitagene supplements and then only focus on protein and water. I was also told it can take 6 months to a year to find a new normal. I still can't eat beef without feeling like I want to die. -
I wasn't allowed to do more than walking till week 12. This is a question for your surgeon. My timeline was based on what I had done. And it's amazing how accurate they were! I because of all I had done I wasn't even walking upright till week 5. lol! At week 6 I reinjured myself and could barely even walk at ALL. By week 8 I was not sleeping quite so long and felt my energy return. By week 12 I was ready to rock!

Severe nausea/can't drink anything 1 week post op
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Coloradobri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Poor thing. Your tummy had a serious trauma when 80% of it was removed and then stapled back together. It's freaking out, it's healing and it's not easy. I'm so sorry. The advice here seems to be good. Try the anti-nausea pills if you have them. Call your surgeon's office and tell them. Also tell them you haven't been able to drink for 3 days and you fear dehydration. THey might just send you to the ER. Are you logging in your water? If so tell them just how few ounces you've had. Dehydration isn't good. -
For the Ladies
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Sullie06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We might have had our stomachs removed but our wombs are still our mortal enemy!!! hahah!! From having erratic periods to heavy flows to hormones flooding our system to PMS food cravings, holy CRAP is it a mine field. lol! I crave chocolates and fries when I'm PMSing. So I have a hershey kiss or two and steal some of my BFF's fries. Like, I"m not gonna order fries and I'm not gonna buy a snickers but Imma gonna need a little be more during those times and I've given myself permission. The mood swings are hard enough to deal with! haha! these estrogen waves I'm riding really suck. Like, I have a crush on my coworker now, whom I've worked with for 2 years. Yet 2 months ago I basically did the equivalent of writing his name in my notebook a millions times. ahaha! I'm a 42 year old woman CRUSHING on a guy? Puuuulease! Hormones At Work over here, flooding my system due to weightloss and the hormones stored in fat. ugh. lol! -
Best advice
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Hopejeung's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me? Follow the protocols. After they remove your stomach those first 3 months are first a healing nightmare and then quickly becomes so fun with losing so fast. Then our tummies really heal and people's bad habbits can come back. For me I avoid it by just focusing on my protein and water goals. But I do it by making really awesome, delicous dishes at home. I currently make (and these are all low carb, high protein meals): Chilli Tandoori chicken Butter chicken Chicken Teriyaki Maryland Crab Cakes I took the time to practice and try stuff out. If I didn't like something or it didn't go down well, I brought it into work and gave it away. I spent a good month sourcing recipes, trying them out and now I have delicious protein meals that are SOO much better than anything I'd buy on the fly. I don't even CRAVE the stuff I'm not suppose to have cause i"m just excited to eat the awesome gourmet food I made. That and walking 15 minutes at 10:00 and 3:00 as well as a half hour at lunch. Those are my absolutes. Doesn't matter where I am or what I'm doing, unless I'm on jury duty or something. I walk briskly at those time. Not a stroll, I'm out to MOVE. Finally, Stairs. I run up any flight of stairs I can. At work we have a flight of 16 steps. I do sets of UP & Down at least 3 times a day. Usually I come back from my brisk walks and end it with a set of 3 on the stairs. It doesn't really take that long. I invested the time on the front end for the recipes and now I have them down pat, can buy the ingredients with ease and throw together my meals for a whole week in a few hours. I make sure I walk 3 times a day and take advantage of the opportunities to move when they are presented. I've been fairly successful so far, I'm dropping inches consistently and then lbs are a little less predictable but our metabolism doesn't like to lose weight at this rate and will fight us from time to time. Overall this whole process is simple, but not easy. The way to make it easier on ourselves is to commit to the post surgical protocols. Good luck! I'll say this, the 1st 8 weeks were a nightmare for me, I had the VGS, Hiatal hernia repair and gallbladder removal. I hit a massive regret and depression wave around week 4 or 5. I cried my self-pitying eyes out and let myself feel all those emotions. Then I picked myself up again and haven't looked back. Nobody is gonna have a EASY time, but it will be faster and more fun if you follow the diet instructions and watch your body reveal itself to you. I am now happier than I have been in years but it wasn't a cakewalk getting here. So try to keep your head up, eyes on the prize and remember to allow yourself to feel all of your emotions and deal with the psychological stuff that comes up so you can enjoy this new life you are birthing for yourself. -
You won't have a choice at first. Your stomach will be a tender healing mess. I'd guess you could try at 12 weeks. But it's better to kick this habit. Cause the thing is Soda tends to be a gateway to fatty carbs...

carbinionation blows up our tummies like a balloon and then it hurts and is gassy. I was told no carbonation for at least 6 months...if EVER. And I'm a full blown Diet Coke addict. But I haven't wanted any at all post surgery. Thank GOD. Honestly, when I do drink Diet Coke it's like a gateway drug to all the other bad things I like.

make sure you are getting as much hydration as you can through your shakes and water. That could be a factor. -
Hair loss

just eat your protein and, as clc9 said, ride it out. Some people use biotin but it can also cause facial hair... -

Feeling sick
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to itszee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have advice regarding the throwing up everyday except to call your surgeon. I say it over and over but I was a NUISANCE to my surgical office. And so what?? lol! I called everyday from like week 3 to week 6. That did not happen to me and I'm not sure why it is happening to you. My only recommendation is to call your surgeons office and explain what's happening and if they aren't taking you seriously start crying or something. Make yourself seem like you are such a mess they HAVE To see you. Also my surgeon said this isn't a race, we can move back to the earlier steps if we feel we aren't ready. It's always ok to move back to the first few weeks protocols. -
Will I Ever Eat Spicy Again?
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to RockDaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Give yourself like 6 months before thinking you can't eat something ever again. I had Chili at 8 weeks and it was a nightmare. I made it again at 4 months and that's all I ate for 2 weeks. lol! -
Eating Crap And Still Losing - Utterly Lost And Confused....Game Changer!
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ignore any snarky/bitchy responses. What I'm reading here is that you have a lot of emotional issues here. Your used of alcohol was a transference of your addiction to food. Now you are in a really precarious place it seems with your emotions. And, I'm gonna be honest, I feel it's 100% normal. I'm a wreck some days. It's been 5 months since my surgery and sometimes the emotions get worse. I think therapy is exactly what is needed here. And I'm not just saying that, I'm in the process of trying to find a therapist right now. For me I'm forming an inappropriate crush/attachment at work. I'm becoming fixated on it like I would with food. So rather than f'up my life I'm going into therapy. I didn't become morbidly obese because I had a healthy mind. lol! We are creatures with dents and bruises and sometimes those dents and bruises gather more attention and need and then we need to go take care of them. To me it sounds like you are really struggling and eating only carbs and sabotaging yourself, in your mind, means you are mentally dealing with so much and looking for outlets. I don't want to just be healthy, I want to be HAPPY. To me, that's actually the most important part of this, besides getting to stay alive. -
How did you feel when you woke up?
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to fatnomore2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pain, drug haze, emotional. Pain was pretty bad, was doped up till I left. Was rolling hard on Vicodin for the next two weeks. Had VGS, Hiatal Hernia repair and gallbladder removal which was more complicated than expected.
