Hormonal driven lows/depression?
LittleLizzieLilliput posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi folks, So I'm wondering if I'm hitting a hormone driven depression patch. I will start this out by saying I've already scheduled an appointment with my GP and have preemptively taken an extra blood tests for my regular Surgeon's appointment to make sure all is well with my other numbers. What happened is a few weeks ago I started feeling really down and it doesn't make sense. I'm active, I have a good social life, friends, work, etc. Of course nothing is perfect. The problem is I started feeling really negative about myself, feeling like I had no point on this earth, why am I here, etc. And I walk around on the verge of tears. This is not like me at ALL. I am a very happy, vibrant person who kind of explodes with energy and happiness most of the time (I know, super annoying, lol!) But now I'm so testy and sad, I'm feeling depressed and crying myself to sleep. Yes I'm lonely, yes I want to find someone to share my life with but that doesn't explain this deep sadness and pain I'm experience - seemingly out of nowhere!! So just looking to see if others of experienced this. I am 9 months post op, I'm following all the protocols on everything, food, water, exercise, vitamins, etc. OH! And the other thing, I don't think I've had my period for almost 2 months! (No, I'm not pregnant unless Jesus 2. 0 is in the works and no WAY would they pick me. lol!) That's the other reason I'm gonna see my doc. Something is up... -
Does anyone know why my nose runs when my sleeve is near full? So weird!

Our bodies are crazy things. lol! You probably won't have an answer, it's just something your body does right now. It took me about 3 months before all the alien type reactions or events/sensations started to dissipate. I used to get the hiccups even if I just ate 3 small bites. When I called my surgeon's office they swore it was because I was over-eating and needed to do portion control. Through tears and anger I told her, So waking up and sipping 2 small sips of water means I'm over eating??? Good to know! lol! Anyway, it just is what it is. Keep a tissue by your side to prep and know that most likely this will go away quickly. I had the foamies for 8 weeks as well. Was ALSO told it was because I was over eating. lol! AgaIn, hard to do when it was start with just one bite of food. lol! -

Dating horrors
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to kad_82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reality is this, for some people this will be a non-starter for them. Weather it be we were obese once or the skin, or whatever! It's just the thing we have to realize. It's not easy either. I dread it tremendously. I'm in this spot where I'm getting all this attention but I know it's empty because most of them would be pretty turned off by what's under the clothes. I'm doing this as well and it's scary and exciting, nerve wracking and puts our ego and self-esteem on the line. I feel you girl, I feel you!! I really don't want to be alone anymore but I'm not willing to settle and that means putting myself out there and getting hurt maybe. -

I'm seriously getting pissed off with my stall
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to ayanna_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, a pound is a pound, but mass and weight are two different things. The mass of 5 lbs of fat is far bigger than the mass of 5 lbs of muscle. Science YO! I love it!!! The point is...measure yourself. You may be converting fat to muscle, thus losing mass - which is really our main goal. To be smaller. -

are you measuring yourself as well? The scale is not the only thing that will show your success. -
Down 45pds
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to jazzy0917's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't like the tone of your post. Love...you need a hug!!!!!!! "Only 45 lbs"???!!!?!??! That's like 25% of your goal if your goal is near 150. I mean, girl, you are kicking ASS, you get that right?? You have major surgery, you have going through recovery, redoing everything in your life, still getting everything done AND almost 25% of the way to your goal??? "I know its not much and i have long way to go but im not giving up." No, it's EVERYTHING and it shows how much strength and courage you have. Of course you aren't giving up, you are a freaking rock star!! I hope you can see that now. -
What do you eat for breakfast when you are tired of eggs?
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Sosewsue61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my riches, fattiest, most sodium filled carb meal of the day for breakfast! lol! And ain't nobody talking me out of it unless the Doc says I can't. haha! 1 low carb English Muffin 4-6 slices Hormel Black Label precooked bacon 1 slice american cheese Nuke the bacon for 24 seconds, then press them between paper towels to absorb as much fat as possible. Toast muffin, assemble. Enjoy life's better moments. Takes me a about 1 hour to eat. -
Over eating
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Clarive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As folks have said, you should be following the protocols. Part of that is no grazing. When we load ourselves up with Protein with our meals than it takes hours to be hungry again and you crave more protein. But if you graze on foods, even if they aren't crappy foods, you are going to eat a whole lot more than you ever wanted or intended too. So, maybe what you need to do is meal prep?? That way the meals are ready for you the moment you are hungry. Then you eat your protein rich meal, get full and satisfied and then move on. Good Luck!!!!! I wish you all the success in the world!!! -

LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Jules Rodriguez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't rush your body, it's still in shock, swollen, retaining fluids so it can heal. It's doing it's thing. Give yourself some time. And don't step on that scale for a month. -
Weight gain
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to katie513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
9 lbs in one week is kind of a big deal if you haven't changed your routine much. I'd monitor my sodium but, to be honest, if you really have kept to your diet you might want to call your surgeon's office and talk to them. That's a lot in one week, I'd start to be concerned another health issue might have arisen. -

LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Aldean45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't see your actual list of what you are eating. We need that to help. And have you looked at the sodium in the protein chips?? You should be aiming towards 90 grams protein per day. Your meals, are they solids? What are you doing? And if you just eat chips instead of your meals, than yes, you will turn this into a really difficult time. Are you working with a nutritionist? We can help you but we need more information. It sounds to me like you know what the problem is but need help with other suggestions maybe? I'm confused on what help you need. -

LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Aldean45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi There! How much pre-operative preparations were you required to do before the surgery? I ask this because a lot of these questions and concerns are addressed in those prep classes. I didn't have them so I was kind of in the dark. Your body has gone through a massive trauma. How long is your recovery? 12 weeks? Do you have a post eating plan? You said high protein snacks, what does that mean specifically? You need to be drinking your protein shakes, are you on soft foods, solids? YOu should be focusing on whole protein like chicken or fish. Protein chips are a bad way to start this out. So, can you list of us what food stage you are at right now, what your daily meals kind of look like, your water intake and your exercise? We can help you tweak your day if you give us the data. -
Frustrated a bit
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to LaLaJ13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you mean "Only lost 48lbs"??? I think you have some readjusting to do on your expectations. You need to understand what our bodies are going through, the changes, the healing, etc. And you are BARELY on the road of this journey!!! lol! So, my FIRST thing to say to you is to congratulate yourself on how well you've done, on all the hard work and dedication. Also you need to give yourself a HUGE hug. Cause man are you doing great!! My Second thing to say to you is that plateaus and stalls are going to be constant. In fact you will have more time in a stall than you will losing weight. I don't like calling them stalls. I call them Pauses. Cause your body is still working hard, it's healing, trying to build muscle, it's confused and just getting to a place of balance again after have most of an organ removed. My Third thing to say to is this...try to enjoy this process as much as you can. You lost 48 pounds man!!! WOO HOO! That's fantastic. You've basically lost a 6 year old from your body. lol! You need to enjoy these things. Below is a post from a thread in May. So many people responded to me and it helped them so I try to paste it in threads I think it can still help. Good luck and please try to enjoy so much of this and give yourself a break. You are doing AMAZING! -
Need some feedback from sleeved folks 18 months-2 years out.
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to Reason to Believe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what I told my doctor when he asked me what my goal weight was: I have no idea what my target weight should be. How could I? Or anyone really? I have been overweight since adulthood, I have no idea what weight I will be at when I feel like I've reached the point where I'm ready to Maintain. In fact, I feel that setting a goal weight now would be entirely arbitrary and I don't want to set goals that are not realistic or obtainable. He said he was very happy with that answer and felt it was completely accurate. He said that we will monitor where I'm at as my appointments go by and we can determine when we feel I've reached the point we are both happy with. On my last appointment a few weeks ago, I was at 177 I think, he said I still have a lot to lose. I was happy he said that because even though I'm in a size 12-10 I really feel like there is so much more for me to do. I'm glad we are both on the same page here. But my point is this: For us setting a goal weight can be partially arbitrary. Unless you were thin as an adult most of us don't' really know what our body's best weight is gonna be. And remember, you are working with your doctor but if you want to keep trying to improve your health and your physical situation, you can do that. Your doctor can't stop you. -

LittleLizzieLilliput posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMFG, I don't even know how to write this all down. It's such a blur. See, I've lived my life hiding for years. I hated my body so I hid in my house or just by not putting myself out there. Anyway, I'm so far on my journey now, I'm wearing size 10 jeans (I'm still 177 lbs folks. So for all of you who look at "plateau's" as horrible things just remember this. I've been at 177 lbs for over a month or more now but I've dropped almost 3 sizes. Because I'm working out, building muscle and reshaping my body) and I have been feeling pretty good about myself. My friend invited me to go to a going away party for one of her friends. My friend is about 10 years younger than me. Not an issue but is relevant as all her friends are 10 to 20 years younger than me. So we get to this party and roll in. I'm feeling good, I spent a lot of years partying so I am completely comfortable in this setting regardless of the ages and I feel more relaxed and at ease than I have in years because I'm so much smaller and feel more socially average. Anyway, I'm just having a blast. I'm joking around, doing my thing. After a few hours my friend pulls me aside and says "Do you realized you have about 8 guys all trying to get with you tonight and then there is that other guy who's done nothing but circle around you??" I was FLOORED. Seriously? Me? The 42 year old woman when there are about 30 young, barely dressed girls in there 20's all over the place?? WHAT??? And she was like "No, you're f**king hot and don't realize it! You could nail at least 5 of these guys right there and that other guy would take you home in a second!" lol! The ego boost was PHENOMENAL! I think I'll ride high on this for years. One german exchange student kid in college just straight up came up to me and asked me what it would take to go home with him. I told him it would take him being at least 10 years older cause I could have given birth to him. He did not believe me at all. hahah! It was AWESOME! That one night has totally changed my perspective on myself and how I am viewed. Holy. Crap. say WHAT???? I can't even get over it. lol! I've been in shock for 2 days now. -
Please tell me this foaming at the mouth stops soon
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to imawhodat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it for about 3 months or so. It's gone now. Sucked but it always was an indication to me that I had eaten a bit too much for my tummy in that moment. THe thing is, that volume changed depending on how my stomach was doing. lol! So I'd say about 12 weeks. -
Month long stall...then gain!
LittleLizzieLilliput replied to avatarkorraa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It looks like you are following the full protocol. At this point I agree that you might want to discuss this with your doctor. There could be something else going on. Especially with such low energy. You should be high energy now. Thyroid, iron, etc. All that stuff needs to be checked. Good luck, I hope you guys are able to figure this out quickly!
