calling all December 2016 sleevers!
rbaertsch replied to OhHeyMarina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the exact same place as you. Same surgery date, zero weight loss. I lost a lot on the per-surgery diet and I only have just under 60 to get to my goal, so I understand those are two reasons. I don't know, but I think a stall can pop up after a period of loss so that our bodies can adjust to the changes taking place. I think I may just be lucky enough to have it happening to me in my first few weeks. Maybe you are having a similar experience? Look at it this way...you know you are eating fewer calories than required for your body to maintain your current weight, right? It logically follows that you WILL loose the weight. How much and how fast doesn't seem to a predictable time table. Just stick with it. I'd love to hear how you are doing now! -

@@duvie75 I'm Dec. 19th. Still sitting at my surgery weight, but not giving up. I started with a BMI of 36, but because I'm so short, I have a little less than 60 pounds to go to goal. I know it will happen, but the weighting is hard. One day at a time. How are you feeling? I'm still a bit sore on the inside if I move around too much or get to "jiggling" in the middle, but starting to walk more, which is good. -
Can you stall before you start?
rbaertsch replied to rbaertsch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, heidikat. You are doing amazing! You're an inspiration to not give up! -
I have found my heaven in soft foods! If you haven't, go to Pintrest and look for bariatric diet soft foods. I made the ricotta bake and loved it! It's like eating lasagna, albeit only the cheese layer. Warm, has flavour, texture! My only mistake was measuring out 3.5 oz, then sneaking one more bite. One more bite! I was in pain for hours. I've officially learned the exact capacity of my new stomach. Lol Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

Can you stall before you start?
rbaertsch replied to rbaertsch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all so much for the advice. I'm going to commit to 30 minutes of walking. I've been trying to just walk more during the work day because I work long hours, but I need to do more. I'm also going to refocus on me and try really hard to stop comparing my loss. I think I'll start feeling better when I finally get below my starting weight. It's right around the corner. Can you stall before you start?

Thank you both so much! It feels good to not be alone. I was starting to think I was doing something very wrong. How much should we be walking at this point? Is 10,000 steps even a reasonable goal. I'm only getting between 4,000 and 5,000. I guess I need to step it up, so to speak! I'm going to search that now, Coachthex32. Thanks for the tip! -
I see my doctor Thursday. That will be day 10 for me and I expect him to clear me for pureed foods only. I do that for a while before graduating to "soft". What's driving me nuts is that I'm 8 days out and still 5 pounds above my pre-Op. Normal, I know. And, I'm obsessing. Its just frustrating. Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

Mine says the same thing. Try sipping the Protein like you do Water. I even have to take a break and go back to water, then resume the shake. It's ok if it takes you an hour or more to get it down. Go slow. Also, you may not be able to tolerate making it with milk if you are used to it that way. Try making the shake with just water. Good luck! Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

Doctor recommended G2 drink..?
rbaertsch replied to newmein2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist said to go for the little bit of sugar in G2 if I had issues with fatigue. She told me to Water it down though. So far I haven't needed it and I'm day 5. Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App -
Has anyone gained after surgery
rbaertsch replied to Bakergrl214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve 12/19. On 12/22 I was up 16 pounds from my pre surgery weigh in. I was worried that something could actually be wrong, but the doctor assured me it was totally normal and reminded me not to focus on weight yet and to stay off the scale! 12/19 here! See if the hospital will give you nausea and pain meds for the ride home instead of waiting for the pharmacy in your neighborhood. Riding in the car home was rough for me. All the bouncing. I didn't have one, but a support belt may be very helpful for the ride as well. Good luck! Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

How long does this horrible nausea last?
rbaertsch replied to kimlyon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery Monday and felt great the next morning. But, by afternoon, oh boy! The nausea was horrible! I actually quit taking the pain meds for the day because the pain was easier to bear than the nausea was. They gave me two different kinds of nausea meds, then convinced me on Wed. to try taking the pain med again. It started to all come together (finally!) yesterday, and today is the first day I haven't been nauseous. Hang in there, girl! Short term pain for long term gain! -
Good advice, Dopel! I regret that I did. The doctor's office just called to check in and I asked her. She said everyone gains that weight. It's temporary and due to the fluids they pump you full of at the hospital. It goes away with the swelling. Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

That's will power, Philly! I called my friend who was sleeved in Oct. She said the same thing happened to her. It took about a month for the swelling to go down.

I have a question for all of you. I know we shouldn't be anywhere near a scale right now, but who can help it? I went from 198 to 181 at home on my pre surgery diet. When I was weighed right before my surgery I was 178. Yesterday I got on the scale and I was 193. What's going on? I understand swelling and maybe the hospital fluids ( and lucky me got my period on my first day home). But that seems like a lot of weight. Anyone else experience this? Oh to be young again! I'm 45 and struggling through this. But I'm determined! I was sleeved on Monday too, Philly. And in Pittsburgh. Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

You're a trooper, girl! I had a hard time on days two and three. Vomiting and dizzy. It was rough. Gets better every day though. Tomorrow, I'm going to the gym to walk. Too cold outside! Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

It's so nice to find the two of you with our dates so close together! I hear you on the gas pains. I'm having the same issues. I'm finding that room temp Water is easier than cold. Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

I had mine 12/19! Some pain and nausea still. I think it's gas pain. I'm getting my fluids in, but have to be very careful about the size of my sips and waiting in between sips. Absolutely no hunger. I'm kind of nervous about eating again. The liquid diet feels like a nice safe space for now.
