So, I am new here and mid ways in my approval process and still working hard on getting my approval for VSG..my entire packet is almost together..all the tests ran, the 6 month medical weight loss attempt from last year included..My Dr support letter for surgery since my BMI is not high enough, but since I have diabetes I still qualify..then now this road block..ugh..why is there always a road block? Lol So..because of past compulsive eating habits, I've had to jump through the therapy hoop, but know what? I'm good with it. I probably needed therapy years ago for my food addiction. I want to have all the ammunition I can get to kick my food addiction in the butt! I honestly eat the right stuff 95% of the time..I exercise at the gym and walk 10,000-15,000 steps a day..but being in my 40s my weight won't budge and I know my portion size is way too big, plus that 95% should be 100% most days, but I honestly have nothing that tells me to stop eating.. That's why I think the surgery will work wonders for me. I hope to continue to address the head hunger more even after surgery because I know that's the true struggle for people with food addictions. So that's where I am..the beginning of my journey..pray that I get approved and can come back on here in months and show those awesome before and after pictures I see so many of you posting. What a great site this is..everyone is so sweet and supportive. I ❤️❤️❤️!!!! BTW, I've read two great books, because I'm the 'gotta research and read everything you can about it', kind of gal. Lol If you haven't had the surgery yet, here are the books. I found them so insightful. One is from a Dr. View point and the other from a patient to patient view. Gastric bypass versus Sleeve
Lucky2Lose replied to Moffett84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr also recommended the bypass because I was diabetic and there appears to be more success rate with the bypass and diabetics..but I chose the sleeve..it's considered the safest of the two and I know two people personally where the daughter got the bypass and the mom got the sleeve and the daughter has been in the hospital several times after her bypass for dehydration and other complications and the mom hadn't had any issues. Luckily I have had no issues either. I feel great..my sugar is normal and I am off my meds. I also didn't have problem with sugar which is another reason people pick the bypass to keep from eating sweets if they get dumping syndrome. The sleeve also requires less Vitamins for life. My issue was binge eating..over eating even good foods. I chose the sleeve and it was the right choice for me for sure slow and steady wins the race in my book. SW 232 CW 201.4 GW 175 -

Drinking before and after eating

I was a smoker..but I changed to eCigs and vapor and moved down to 0 nicotine, 3 months before my surgery because they wouldn't allow me to have unless I stopped but they were fine with the eCig at 0 nicotine. It is more than just bad for your body..it can cause life threatening ulcers in your stomach after surgery. I found switching slowly down levels of nicotine I didn't have any cravings. I also found that just having the ecig and blowing vapors solved my need. You should give it a try..I just say..don't risk your life anymore by continuing with the cigs. You should want a healthy lifestyle after surgery..so I say strive for it in all areas. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I don't drink Protein shakes anymore..after surgery I couldn't stomach them. I use protein Soups like unjury chicken Soup and Proti Diet vegetable beef. I also love Syntrax Fuzzy Navel. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Best friend totally unsupportive.
Lucky2Lose replied to Mrs Swen's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Is she heavy as well? I did not tell my best friend I had surgery because I knew she wouldn't be supportive. She's always been my eating out buddy. One of her other friends had WLS and I got to hear her talk about what a stupid decision it was..I decided to tell a couple of coworkers that I knew would be supportive and my immediate family. I only wanted positive support and although I love my best friend..I wasn't going to listen to her being negative toward my decision..or worse..think she could talk me out of it..so 10 weeks out and she still doesn't know. Somethings to some people just don't need to be shared. -
I'm cleared to eat it..I'm 10 weeks out but have an awful time digesting it..hate it because I love salad and veggies.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

ACV-Apple Cider Vinegar
Lucky2Lose replied to Lucky2Lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would dilute it more..add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar instead of tablespoons to 1 cup Water and see if it's better..if not..start with 1 teaspoon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Frustrated... the scale isn't moving
Lucky2Lose replied to DiamondDior's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There are a lot more options than just Protein shakes..after my gastric sleeve I couldn't handle the Protein shake..it makes me completely nauseated..but there are tons of different flavored Soups, hot chocolates, fruity Protein Drink inserts..If your surgical team doesn't sell products..just go to Amazon and put in Proti diet or Bariatric Choice..lots of options. I'm even eating a protein oatmeal from Proti Diet.. unjury chicken Soup and Proti diet beef and vegetables soup is my personal favorite. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I've noticed some days I can eat the same food where one day I feel fine and the next time my sleeve doesn't seem to like what I'm putting in it? Have you experienced this? Today lunch, I've had a few times before but this time it is not sitting well. I'm almost 10 weeks out from surgery. Think it's just where I'm still healing? 2oz sliced chicken breast 1 boiled egg 2 TBL Peanut Butter with celery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

This says it all..
Lucky2Lose replied to Lucky2Lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like taking the step and getting the surgery is our desire to change..no true change comes without wanting it but also the backbone of change is the hard work. Just my 2 cents. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
ANYONE FEEL LIKE IT WAS A "WASTE"?
Lucky2Lose replied to TaureanMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think we all know in our head if we aren't doing everything on track..I guess my question is..can you really feel..why did I bother when you lost 50 lbs and also know you need to do better on Water and exercise? I'm a lower BMI and I am losing weight pretty slow..but I also know if I haven't had a successful week..I evaluate what I could have done better and try to readjust for the next week. A little over 50 lbs is my top weight loss goal..so I say..WOW 50 lbs in 5 months..give me some of that success!!! So maybe you need to readjust your thinking first and say..wow..go me!!! I'm 50 lbs less than I was and I got this! Just get that water in and start getting that exercise in and see if you break that stall. You might surprise yourself. Good luck ((HUGS)) SW 232 CW 206.5 GW 155-175 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
