My new kitchen friend
Treadmillwalker replied to adriant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please share recipes. We love our pressure cooker and I would like to use it more. Banded 10/12/16 -
I had band surgery in October and I'm doing great. Weightloss is slower with the band. There is a possibility of problems with any surgery. My doctor performs all three types of WLS surgery and works with the patient to determine which is best. Good luck. Banded 10/12/16

Hiatal hernia-how common?
Treadmillwalker replied to sk1989's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a moderate size hiatal hernia that was repaired when they did my WLS. I've met several people who had theirs discovered during WLS. IMHO it appears to be common. Banded 10/12/16 -

It is so easy to reach for food when we are stressed, sad, bored, lonely and more. I'm working each day to break this unhealthy habit. Banded 10/12/16

My lap band journey
Treadmillwalker replied to JacquieK's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad to read you are doing better. Everyone is different. The gastric band works for some and not others, which is the same with all the surgeries. So many factors impact success. Best wishes with your next surgery. Banded 10/12/16 -
I'm freaking starving.
Treadmillwalker replied to goldenbarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, avoid high carb foods as they won't satisfy you for very long before you will be hungry again. Explore The World According to Eggface. She has numerous recipes when the surgeon says you are ready. Banded 10/12/16 -

Kicking myself over pizza bites
Treadmillwalker replied to huskergirl1972's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not much Protein, and a lot of carbs (I suspect). You had surgery for a reason. Think about what changes you need to make to be successful for the rest of your life. Banded 10/12/16 -

1 day post-op fluid question?
Treadmillwalker replied to Coachthex32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If the bottle say 12 oz. and your Water glass say 8 then how many of those you consume will help you track. Banded 10/12/16 -
Hot things helped me survive my 10 days. Hot herbal tea, cream of chicken, cream of tomato, cream of mushroom (strained of solids) made with Fair Life Skim Milk. Cream of Wheat thinned, hot broth. Banded 10/12/16

Alcoholism after surgery
Treadmillwalker replied to My350z06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
During my six months of preoperative classes we heard this can be an issue. Our society accepts going out for a drink as part of our social norms. Vodka has names and flavors like "birthday cake." Schnapps and whiskey all come in fun flavors. I know that I can't drink hard liquor because it changes my personality. A glass or two of wine on a night out works for me with glasses of club soda and Protein (cheese) in between. The first step is recognizing your limits and we what is an issue. Banded 10/12/16 -
