Sleep Issues and Thyroid Medication
Treadmillwalker posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've been having problems sleeping. My Internal Medicine physician suggested I see my Endocrinologist to have my thyroid retested. I currently take Synthroid (Levothyroxine) for my hypothyroidism. Due to my weight loss I found out that my dosage needs to be adjusted down and it is the cause of my sleep issues (I was waking up during the night and staying awake). I now need to have my blood tested every six weeks to see if the dosage needs to be adjusted. I currently take 3 mg. AND now skip taking a pill on Sunday each week. I'm now sleeping through the night again. Another tip: If you take thyroid medication and the birth control pill take them 12 hours apart (one in the morning and one at night). The birth control pill will make the thyroid medication NOT as effective if taken at the same time. Based on instructions from my Endocrinologist (I'm am no longer on birth control.) I thought I would share in case anyone else is on medication for their thyroid and having trouble sleeping or struggling with weight loss. You may need to have your dosage adjusted down during your weight loss phase and space your birth control and thyroid medication 12 hours apart. -
@@LittleBill we installed it in 2011 when the Midwest flooded. It has been a blessing. Love your humor. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

LOL - we installed a whole house generator in 2011. Best investment ever. We live in the country and appear to be the last place they restore power after town and city residents. Our propane generator has ran 5 days solid before. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

It helps me to use My Fitness Pal and track everything. Remember to eat Protein first and allow 30 minutes after you eat before you drink Water. Stock up on low fat and fat free Proteins. When I'm starving (in my head) I eat plain yogurt or cottage cheese or drink hot tea. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

Skin Feels Weird

Increase your Water and Protein intake. All so buff your skin in the shower--this helps my dryness. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16 -

Banded girlfriends I have my second fill on 12/27. I'm okay with not feeling the restriction right now as it isn't obvious at all the holiday and year-end things we have going on. Once Christmas is over I want to get to the sweet spot and lose weight. Right now it is crawling. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

The Statistics are not in our favor? (According to my worried Dad)
Treadmillwalker replied to Anna Nim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to think long and hard if you can make the lifestyle changes required post surgery to be successful. If yes, then chat with your Dad about what your life will be like post surgery and how he can help support you. The surgery is not a license to eat or not exercise. It is a tool to help along with significant lifestyle changes. My husband helps me plan low carb meals. Weighs and measures food for recipes and packs my lunch. His support is helping is invaluable. My Fingernails are Growing
Treadmillwalker posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Super excited to finally have fingernails that I can file and paint. All of the protein I'm now consuming (instead of carbs) is really showing in my nails. I think I will schedule a manicure for just before Christmas. This is a nice side effect of my new healthier eating habits. -
I'm allergic to Premier Protein
Treadmillwalker replied to nennas_mommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are also Protein waters. Ask the nutritionist for samples. Vendors typically provide at no cost. S/he may also know where you can buy sample packs at a reduced price. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16 -
Cheating with the Scale - a Mind Game
Treadmillwalker posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Today I stepped on the scale and it showed I lost some weight. Instead of being excited my mind instantly thought okay I can eat this fatty food for lunch. WHAT! My mind instantly wanted to cheat all because the scale was whispering, you lost some more weight. It is like wrestling with the devil. I won't reach my goals if I eat every time the scale shows I'm down--I will just yo yo. Repeating to myself--Be Strong and Ignore the Scale. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16 -
On Thanksgiving I ate some potatoes, and have now returned to low carb. I limit eating carbs to one meal every couple of weeks and then limit it to bites. A couple french fries, a few low fat crackers. I count calories, etc. I really want to lose weight and carbs stall my losses. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

Malabsorbtion with sleeve?
