Good morning everyone. I'm working on revamping my diet. I've stalled in my weighloss because I'm drinking too many calories in terms of lattes. Also consuming too many carbs. I recommitted to eating healthier starting on 6/5/17 and the scale is moving again. Lap-banded and love it!

Thank you! I appreciate you sharing your experience with me and also your eating plan. Yes, I think I'm eating too many calories. Best wishes to you with your knees. Lap-banded and love it!

@Sharpie you look happy. Congratulations on your new life. Lap-banded and love it!

I received my band in October. A portion of my stomach has been pulled up around my band to prevent slippage. Think of a skirt you have hanging down and then you pick up a little bit and it creates a fold that is sown around the band and the remainder hangs down. The band is snuggled in with my procedure. Do you know how yours is secured? My surgeon tells me most of us purge stuck food from the top pouch and it isn't harmful, but irritating. My procedure minimizes the risk of slippage. Lap-banded and love it!

I had lapband surgery in mid October. I'm down 55 pounds. I have knee issues I'm working through so exercise is slow and limited; otherwise I would be a little farther along in my weighloss. I keep plugging away and know eventually I will reach my goal. You look great. Keep going. Lap-banded and love it! -
gowalking - thanks for your note and encouragement. Because we live in the country I don't have a swimming pool conveniently nearby. I'm going to try a pedal exerciser and exercising sitting on a big rubber ball (hand weights, sit ups). My husband put different pedals on our recumbent bike, but my legs are still too big/heavy to have them extended out in front. I don't have the muscle strength to hold them up and not put pressure on my knees. I also ordered an exercise DVD for knees. I'm rather disappointed in myself that I ever let myself get this large and out of shape. I can't live in regret and I need to move forward. But it still pisses me off that I was so stupid. I'm cutting calories back this week to 1,000. I've been letting them creep up and since exercise is an issue I'm not burning off the extras. gowalking - I wish you a full recovery. I'm sorry for your pain now, but know it will pay off in the future. Best wishes. Lap-banded and love it!

Hello, to update I went to the Orthopedic surgeon on 3/24 and learned after testing and x-rays that I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees, no cartilage in either and I need double knee replacement. At age 55 and having a current BMI too high for my height (5'3") doctor wants me to lose significant weight and try to get by 10 years. I started Meloxicam 7.5 mg 2x a day and cortisone shots every 90 days. Dr. also recommends a Mediterranean diet to help cut inflammation. First set of shots and arthritis meds have started to offer some relief this weekend. Grateful as I need to learn how to exercise given no cartilage in knees. Doctor recommends a swimming pool. We live in the country and I work remotely most days. Ordered a DVD to strengthen knees muscles and just starting use exercise bike. Keeping fingers crossed exercise helps with my weight loss. If you have knee issues or suggestions on diet or exercise, please share. I'm grateful for my lapband, but expect I need exercise to see the scale move and give my knees some relief. Thank you. Lap-banded and love it!

You are on the right path. Awareness is the first step. What your portion size and calories and that darn scale should start moving. Sorry about your ankle and knees. Gosh, once I got out of my 20s my body totally changed and I'm long overdue on getting it back in shape. Keep in touch and I look forward to reading your progress in the future. Lap-banded and love it!

@weenebug so nice to hear from you. I'm feeling a little blue. I went to a sports medicine physician / orthopedic surgeon on Friday. He ran tests and took x-rays and told me I have osteoarthritis in both knees and need total knee replacement. Because of my age (not in my 60s or 70s) and BMI (not 25% to 30%) he won't do the replacements. He wants me to try exercising on a stationary bike as it isn't load bearing, and continue with my healthy eating. I'm only down 53 pounds since October. Starting Friday I'm going to lower my calories to 1000 a day. We ordered orthopedic friendly bike pedals for our recumbent bike and I will begin using it as soon as the pedals arrive. I also purchased a Fit Board. I'm not sure I can do it, but will see if my knees will let me. I received cortisone shots in both knees and they should kick in by the weekend and begin to offer some relief. I also started Meloxicam on Monday, and should feel some relief in about two weeks. I feel like a hot mess, but I will get through it. Hang in there. Consistency is the key. Perhaps try cutting calories every other day to shake things up. Are you exercising? My band is 10 cc and I have 5.5 cc in it. I do feel some restriction. I don't want it any tighter. I'm working to slow down how fast I eat, chew, chew, chew, cut portions and make healthy choices. Lap-banded and love it!

Reading all the messages and sending my virtual support and prayers. I'm down 53 pounds since getting banded in October. I'm not making progress due to lack of exercise. My knees ache. I'm going to see a sports medicine / orthopedic surgeon tomorrow (Friday). I don't a specific injury. I suspect age and obesity have taken a toll. I'm hoping he does x-rays and identifies the issue. I'm hoping he can give me cortisone injections in both knees to get me relief so I can exercise and take off more weight. I hope I don't need surgery. I wonder if I have arthritis? Hopefully all will be answered tomorrow. Lap-banded and love it!

Food suggestions

I love Unjury chicken flavored protein powder. Order online. Important to check the temperature of your water to have 140 or a little less. Too high and the powder lumps. Lap-banded and love it! -

Just got my new fill and don't know if it is too tight 6.5cc
Treadmillwalker replied to chiiillin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, sounds too tight. I have 5.5 cc in mine. Bread tends to get stuck regardless (for me) also steak and green leafy salad. I can eat romaine lettuce just fine, but spring greens tend to stick in my upper portion. I cut everything into super tiny bites (think pencil eraser), I eat sloooow and chew, chew, chew,. The band is working well for me. I am losing about 2 to 2.5 pounds a week so around 10 pounds a month. I need to work on exercise. I sit at a computer all day and come home and sit some more. Today I told hubby I'm going to exercise no matter what. Regarding my eating I limit bread and steak which doesn't agree with my band. Everything else I eat small portions of. I track using My Fitness Pal. I'm working hard to be consistent with my healthy eating. Thanks for asking. I hope you are doing well. Lap-banded and love it! -
