Grrrr so the coordinator called me today and I was so excited, thought it was to start scheduling the 3 appointments they require but no, to tell me that they can't do that until my PCP faxes my info over... which they said they did.... and they didnt. Grrr. I'm impatient anyway but this just pisses me off. :/ happy Llama sad Llama... big fat mama Llama. -
Hello everyone! So on Wednesday night i went to the WLS info session after researching and contemplating and being discouraged by 2 PCPs. I got all my paperwork in on the same night and now I have to wait to be called about setting up my 3 appointment. I am SO excited, after 20ish years of every diet, excersize plan and fad I will finally (hopefully) see some real results. Looking forward to being nosey and hearing all about everyone's journey happy Llama sad Llama... big fat mama Llama.

I'm really not looking forward to needles. Lol!! The idea of surgery doesn't scare me too much but blood draws and IVs are my least favorite thing haha happy Llama sad Llama... big fat mama Llama. -
Dr. Does not stand by choice
nh-vsgirl replied to MTWilliams's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had surgery yet but about 5 1/2 years ago I was able to lose 30 lbs on my own and BOOM, baby time. It's funny, prior I had been trying for a few years for my last baby, I finally gave up and decided I'd be OK with 2, and.... now I have 3 lol. So my advice to you is have the surgery. Then be diligent with birth control until you're done with school because chances are you will get pregnant fast other wise (my bff, currently pregnant with twins after wls. Lol) happy Llama sad Llama... big fat mama Llama. -

The exercise "class" is just an information type thing. They will have you walk for 6 mins and get your heart rate abs go over some things you should be doing. Nothing stressful at all. You'll see them 3 times during the program both before and after surgery I got my packet today from CMC wooo! I see the lifestyle classes they require are over 6 weeks but when I look online I don't see them listed, please tell me they aren't once a month lol, can I not bang them out in 6 weeks ? happy Llama sad Llama... big fat mama Llama. -

That all sounds doable, yay! What's the exercise class all about? Oddly enough , I actually really like working out lol, although I have made a point not to until I get my first weigh in, I don't want to accidently lose 5lbs by some miracle and not make the bmi required lol, I'm not against putting a 2lb weight in my pocket . happy Llama sad Llama... big fat mama Llama. -

Proof of weight loss attempts
nh-vsgirl replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She was AWESOME during my last pregnancy and all that but once I was out of the baby needs, it went down hill. I have a whole new dr now (I brought up WLS to her about 6 MO or so ago and she kinda brushed it off , like eh you don't want to do that) I swear I'm 100 plus over weight, aren't drs supposed to be up my ass about that! I don't have an appointment with a surgeon yet but I am going too the info session this wednesday, hopefully I'll know more after! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App First of all, I AM 100 pounds overweight. I have had the same PCP for 11 years. My weight has been a little higher every time I go to see her and a couple of years ago she put me on mild blood pressure meds. She has told me to try Weight Watchers and/or try to cut carbs. That's about it. She doesn't get overly upset about my weight, recommend a nutritionist, or anything of the sort. I don't even bring up WLS with her, I KNOW she would not be on board with me having it. I checked to see what my insurance covers and went to see one of the surgeons they recommend in early August. The paperwork I filled out before the visit asked me to list all the things I had tried in the past to lose weight. It was actually a check list, so I checked Weight Watchers multiple times, Jenny Craig twice, MediFast, etc. They did not need specific dates or any proof. They did ask about the most I had ever lost with any program and if I was able to keep it off. Other than that all I needed for my insurance was a psych eval. I did that and it was all sent to my insurance for approval. My insurance does not require a supervised diet plan or multiple nutritionist visits. Most do. As far as the history of your weight loss attempts I don't think I have heard of any insurance requiring proof. Some DO require clearance for surgery from your PCP, but I have been told there are ways around that if your doctor is not on board with WLS. Mine is not, I am not going to tell her, my surgeon said that was fine. This was all music to my ears, thank you! I think I keep psyching myself out because I just know something won't go right lol, but I'm hopeful! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App -

Proof of weight loss attempts
nh-vsgirl replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what has me nervous because while I've been trying the whole diet and exercise thing for about 20 years the only 2 times I talked to my old PCP about it specifically was to check my thyroid (fine) and the last time about a year ago, I went to her seriously down in the dumps and her advice was try to eat less and move more for 3 months. That was the entire load of advice . I did meet with a nutritionist once at her request, who literally told me I sounded like I really knew what I was talking about. Yet. Here I am, still fat lol. I'm not sure if this is approved but the idealfit Protein powder is pretty yummy, from someone than can't stand any fake sweetener, the birthday cake, and chocolate are my favorite, also vanilla chai and chocolate from fitmiss are also good and super cheap.
