I was 235lbs on March 1, 2008. I am now 205lbs. I tried loosing weight for years and after a week or so on the "diet" I would give in to my sweet (sugar) cravings. The amazing thing is I lost half the weight during pre-op. The dedication I had to the liquid diet was unbelievable, unlike any other commitment I had made before on a diet. I made up my mine that if I was going to use the Lap Band,I would completely do everything I need to do to lose the weight before and after my surjery. I realized that if I don't get serious about my weight loss and do whats right, then the Lap Band can't even help me. I walk four miles every day and yes it is not fun and you get tired. What is fun is being able to fit into a pair of jeans that I could not fit over my stomach. So the struggle I go through everyday to put the right food in my mouth, exercise every morning is worth the reward that I get everyday and at the end of the journey. My reward is the encouragement from my family and friends to press on and stay focused, also the compliments they give me. I am still trying to reach my short term goal. That is to be below 200lbs by September 17, 2008 (my birthday). I can't wait, can't weight to buy new clothes, can't weight to see the new me.

I was banded on 5/6/08. As of today I don't feel anything. Sometimes I feel a little discomfort on my left side when I try to bend down and tie my shoes. However, I am still healing and I am positive that within a few more weeks I will be able to tie my shoes again without any feeling of discomfort. As each day goes by you feel better. So don't let that scare you. Life is GOOD with the band.:smile2:

I don't feel different and I am able to eat
nicelee posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just wondering if anyone had the same experience. I was banded on May 6 and I went back to work 1 week later. I followed my doctors post op instructions and everything is fine. However I have been able to eat anything I want and it stays down. I am eating healthy foods like turkey burgers without bread. I just eat the meat and cut it ti bite size pieces. I am able to eat chicken breast, turkey franks and beans and rice. I don't feel any different. I can eat a whole serving before I get full. Lucky for me I am motivated so I am using portion control and I don't snack. I am able to walk a mile everyday within 30 minutes. I feel great!!!!! I read all the pain everyone is going through and not being able to eat anything and I am thinking is my life suppose to be this good three weeks post op?:confused2: Anyway I get my first fill on July 13. Hopefully I will see and feel a difference. -

Thank you all soooo much. I am feeling better now and I look forward to loosing more weight. -
I got my date on Monday and I started the optifast diet on Tuesday. Now I am on the3rd day of liquids until surgery. I'm not sure if I can hold out for 2 weeks with out any solid food but I am going to give it my best shot. I am looking forward to being under 200 lbs by the time my birthday comes in September.

I was banded on 5/6/08 and I feel great. Physically and mentally I am doing just fine. My doctor took me 2 days early and I am so glad he did.

I had my surgery on 5/6/08. It was actually 2 days earlier then scheduled. I had gas when I woke in recovery and up until yesterday. when I woke up from surgery I felt the pain really bad in my right shoulder. However, I elevated my bed as far up as I could go and the pain started to ease a little. The gas is very painful and makes your stomach feel tight. So laying down was difficult as well as walking or sitting. Keep in mind this only went on for a day and an half. By the end of the second day I felt so much better. Now I am 3 days post op and there is no gas pain. I contribute that to a lot of walking. Hope this was helpful.

For those with BMI 35-40?
nicelee replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel. It seems like the minute I mention it to certain people I get negative energy from them. I feel fat and I feel like I look overweight. If your not happy with the way you are who cares what other people are thinking. Most of my co-workers think I am "not that big". I don't want to be big at all. I havent been less than 200lbs in over 6 years. Don't worry about what other people think, your what matters. Do it for you!! Good Luck
