Hello from an oldie but goodie
iloveorganicmilk replied to Dairymary's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
this is why young ppl usually don't like old people. they are usually bitter, mean, and rude. Just like you @dairymary. I on the other hand, love senior citizens and have many of them as friends. but you are one of the examples why many young people nowadays don't like them. if you have aged enough to have kids of your own, be nice, and mind your own business. Why are you always on my tail? even on my other posts you aggressively speak out against me. if you have no info to share, then just move on and get on with your life. You are one of the meanest users that i've ever met on the internet. theres nothing to be proud about that. -

BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?
iloveorganicmilk posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a BMI of 21 and am getting a vertical sleeve because of my binge eating disorder I am adamant that I will be going through with this surgery because my eating disorder has been so detrimental to me in my physical, psychological and social well being. My eating disorder has been crippling my life, and I truly believe that getting the surgery will help me immensely. Most people on this forum seem to love their sleeves so I am feeling pretty excited about receiving my surgery. However, I understand that most people will think that I am CRAZY(!!!!) for even thinking about getting it done. I would like to hear what other people think about my decision because i cannot put my stomach back together once i get the surgery done. I just wanna hear other people's thoughts so that I can see my decision from the perspective of others. -
How much can you eat years after the sleeve? how much does the sleeve stretch?
iloveorganicmilk posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am getting my sleeve surgery in a couple months and am worried that all my joy in eating food will be gone. How much does the sleeve tend to stretch couple years after surgery? How much can you eat? ( please tell me in cups! ) If I can only eat like a couple of bites for the rest of my life I'm considering asking the surgeon to make my sleeve slightly larger. But if the sleeve stretches a bit where eating a cup of food can get comfortable, I just want a normal sized small sleeve. Watermelon is one of my favorite foods and I'm so sad that i'll be only able eat like 3 or 4 one inch cubes of it I am a female 5'3", so if anyone can tell me how much watermelon they can usually eat, or how large of a portion they are capable of eating of different foods... please tell me!! I heard the sleeve stretches so I'm hoping maybe 5 years after the surgery I could eat like 2 cups of food or so. I had the lap band and my pouch stretched quite a bit after just one year. is this similar with the gastric sleeve? Please tell me how much you are capable of eating as time after surgery passes! Thank you so much!- 16 replies

BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?
iloveorganicmilk replied to iloveorganicmilk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 23. And I have had everything tested. Everything is normal. I think more than being a binge-eater, I am a volume eater. I just eat so much because I always loved to eat since I was little. I just tend to eat large amounts of anything. But I dont eat any of the foods most have mentioned. I don't binge on sweets or ice cream, or chips or crackers. Its more like if I'm out eating sushi, other people will just eat like 12 pieces, but i'll need to eat 24. or like when my friends are eating a 3 egg omelet i'll eat like a 6egg omelet LOL And then I start feeling extremely guilty and stressed that I ate so much that I'll try to relieve the stress by eating more (a vicious cycle!!!) which causes more weight gain and more stress. My life has been controlled by dieting ever since sophomore year in high school. I know that you all might think that i'm sounding a little anorexic here for wanting to stay thin, but really, 110-115 is considered a normal weight for height. Even my doctor (who is not my surgeon) approves. ahh if i could explain everything so that you guys can get a clearer picture of my situation I want to. but a post will lack the space to do so. Anyways. My surgeon has had a lot of success with low BMI patients like me (i'm not the only low bmi patient getting a vsg!!). Even patients with binge-eating and bulimia etc have had success with great reviews! I'm not going into this on a whim. Even lower bmi patients who were thinner than me have done well and were able to maintain a healthy weight. The reason im asking on this forum is because I understand that no matter if i feel 100% confident about my decision, its always smart to listen to other people's thoughts too. Again, thank you all for your guy's input. Its good to see what other people think about my choice -

I know what you are saying. But i think what you are saying applies to everyone who is getting vsg whether big or small. I am sure many people who are already on the forum have had eating disorders. I think the main difference is just that I am smaller than most folks who got the surgery. -

My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op for me, and before the surgery i'm planning on fattening up a bit so that I won't become a skeleton lol -

Oh, I see. I just feel like because I am a volume eater (even when I'm not bingeing). Because of my bingeing habits I know that my stomach is larger than that of a normal person. So thats why I want the sleeve to reduce it. Even if my eating capacity increases over the years, I have heard that it is impossible to get the stomach back to its original size. And the reason why I feel like the vsg will help me a lot is because I do eat really healthy; just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much of it. (think whole watermelon a day, 2 one pound steaks a meal, a ton of fish etc) my diet is really healthy; and thats probably the reason why I'm not super heavy considering the amount that I am able to eat. Thats why I feel like the vsg will help me. -

I don't quite understand though... if the sleeve does not stretch much (or so i have heard) how will I be able to binge? it just doesn't seem physically possible -

I don't understand why people get soooo offended when a smaller person wants to receive the same treatment that you all have received as well? many of you can probably confess that you guys love the restriction that the sleeve gives you. What is wrong with someone of the smaller size who wants that as well? also, I believe that my doctor is a very ethical person because he actually understands the extreme emotional and psychological pain that is present in people like me. Personally to me, my quality of life is just as important as the quantity of life. (Not that the sleeve reduces years of life anyways!) -

I'm not writing any of this in an aggressive tone or anything. but just wanted to say, that a post is way too small to explain my complete life journey. this post was just meant to ask thoughts about what people who had the surgery thought about my decision to get the sleeve. my starting weight was 135 when i got the lap band in march 2015. (I got down to about 108 pounds from the lap band). this past labor day weekend, I got extreme pain from my lapband so i had it completely drained. thats when i decided that the lapband was not for me. (then i gained to 125 with my band all drained) I'm getting my band removed during thanksgiving and then having my surgery the day after christmas. This is not a joke people, nor a troll. I'm seriously just asking for thoughts about my decision. I'm not here to provoke or anger anyone. Just please leave your educated thoughts about my decision if you have any. thank you -

yeah i have tried counseling, reading books, special diets, etc. omg. i have tried everything. Truly the vsg is my decision of last resort (as i can imagine it was for most people on this forum) and for ethical standards, just wondering... if the vsg does not kill you but has improved the quality of life for thousands and thousands of people why is it a matter of ethics? You don't starve after you get the surgery; you can still eat, live, and thrive. I just don't understand the problem. Physical health isn't everything; mental and emotional health is also a BIG part of our lives. But thank you so much for your thoughts. -

You are 5'4", 108 pounds, have an eating disorder and you want to be sleeved? I'm going to exit quietly. no, I'm 5'4" and I'm 125 pounds. My goal weight would be like 110, which isn't underweight. -
