Will a complete unfill allow you to vomit?
leighhoffman replied to caeleb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a complete unfill when I got pregnant and I had morning sickness really bad. My band ended up slipping and had to be removed. My advice would be to make phenegran your best friend. If the phenegran makes you too sleepy Zofran is a wonderful drug. It is extrememly expensive if you do not have insurance so be careful. You can vomit with an unfill but I would not recommend it. -
Heys ladies, I am pregnant too. I am 16 weeks. I was completely unfilled. I started having major problems with morning sickness and my band slipped. I had my band removed at 12 weeks. I still have my port in place but the band has been completely removed. Be careful if you are having morning sickness. It caused my stomach to prolapse around my band. I lost 25 lbs in a month ( weeks 8-12 of my pregnancy). I have gained that back now with hydration and nutrition. I am not telling you this to scare you just to give you a heads up. My baby is doing great. The doctor said that he or she took all the nutrients from me and did fine through the whole ordeal. Just be careful and get medication if you are vomiting. They have meds that are perfectly safe for you and our little bundle. Hope this sheds some light.

leighhoffman replied to KLo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my band removed last Tuesday and I have a bumpy feeling spot under one of my incisions. It is scar tissue. NOthing to worry about. Ask your doctor though. It should put your mind at ease. -

A warning for pregnant banded mommies
leighhoffman replied to leighhoffman's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
No apologies for the English. Where are you from? They did take the band completely out. My doctor talked about just unfastening it but my stomach was too messed up to leave the band around it. It is completely out. The only thing left in is the port. I guess that can stay in there forever with no problem. I think I will leave it in there if it is not necessary to remove it. Take care. -
A warning for pregnant banded mommies

I hope thatyou are not in too much discomfort. I noticed that you are 32 weeks along with your pregnancy. That is probably why your doctor doesnt want to do the tests or surgery on you. I was only 12 weeks when I had my surgery. They were able to do an upper GI while protecting my lower abdomen. Also, the anethesiologist were able to leave out a certain drug in the "cocktail" they give you when they put you to sleep. Apparently without this certain drug there is litte or no risk to the baby. I am sorry that you are having problems this late in the game. Are you able to eat anything? Could your doctor possibly do an unfill to give you some relief? Let me know how you are doing. I will be thinking about you. -
A warning for pregnant banded mommies

Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes. I am feeling much better. The anti-nausea medication I am taking was prescribed by my OB so I feel safe taking it. I am having a time from not taking the pain meds from surgery though. I think I am allergic to the medicine. I have been having what feels like panic attacks since I quit taking it. It is getting much better with each day that goes by. I know what not to take after I have my csection though!! Again thanks for the kind words. -
Fill Doctor in El Paso, Tx. for patients who had Lap-Band Surgery in Mexico
leighhoffman replied to veronicaperez74's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Veronica, Try Dr. Bruce Applebaum. He placed my band and I am not sure if he will do Mexico adjustments but I think he will. He and his staff are great. I really like him. I know he accepts other patients, just not sure about Mexico. He is in with Southwest Surgeons for Obesity. His number is 915-351-6272. Here is his website: http://www.southwestsurgeons.com/ I hope this helps. -
A warning for pregnant banded mommies

Hello all. I wanted to take a minute to warn you if you are pregnant and vomiting to really be careful. I ended up slipping my band and prolapsing my stomach around my band. My surgeon has removed my band and I am laying here in the hospital thanking God everything went well with the surgery. My baby is doing just fine too. I am 12 weeks along. If you have the band and are having morning sickness, get medicine to keep from being sick. You dont want to go through this, believe me!!!! -

Pregnant with the lap band!
leighhoffman replied to Frisky's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hello all! I am almost 8 weeks pregnant and it was a complete surprise for us! We had to use Clomid to conceive our first and this one well....not the same case. WE are really excited and I am so happy that this thread has been started. I hope that we get our own spot too. I have been searching for some info and it is nice to see others who are going through it too. I too have been experiencing port pain ( more like discomfort). I didnt have it before the pregnancy so I am assuming this is what it is from. My body is having no problem remembering that it is supposed to expand with me being pregnant. My doctor and I are learning together about what will be different with this pregnancy. My bariatric nutritionist just basically put me on ( on top of prenantals) an extra folic acid and an extra B12 vitamin a day. Let me know if any of you are doing more and what are you taking. Is there more I need to be concerned with? I hope everyone is feeling alright. Best of luck! -
does anyone else spit in a cup?????????
leighhoffman replied to lorihou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was having alot of trouble spitting up but I had the fluid removed from my band and life is much better. Probably too much restriction. -
Taterbugs, We were going to move to CHarleston because my hubby was in the Airforce and I didnt have anyluck finding anyone closer than Columbia. Try Obesityhelp.com, I tried that site but it has been several months since I looked at it. They may have a new doctor listing on there that I havent seen. Best of luck to you. I am in Fort Rucker, AL and my closest doctor is Pensacola, FL. It is a 2.5 hr drive but well worth it. He is amazing. Good Luck!

very bad gas in shoulder and a question
leighhoffman replied to fitzgerald's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My pain didnt seem like it would ever go away but it finally did. I actually used Flexall ( I know it is for muscles but it worked) to relieve some of the pain. I had my hubby rub it into my shoulders and it does help alleviate some of the pain. Other than that I had to stay active. Hope this helps.
