I would very much appreciate hearing about experiences with Seroma/fluid build up around the port area following surgery. I had lapband surgery on March 10 and after about 10 days developed a large bulge under the port incision, which I learned was Seroma/fluid build up. My surgeon drained the area two days ago, but cautioned that the fluid will likely come back and this could occur 3-4 times. Has anyone else had this problem? Did the fluid come back and, if so, how long before it came back and how many times did it come back? Thanks in advance for any information you provide from your experience.

How long does it take before you know if the seroma is going to come back?

I had surgery two weeks and two days ago. I developed a large bulge about the size of an orange underneath the port incision about 10 days after the surgery. The surgeon said is was fluid build up caused by the open cavity where the port was inserted. He drained it two days ago, but it is starting to build up again. The surgeon said this could happen 3-4 more times. Has anyone else had this experience? If so how many times did it have to be drained before the fluid build up stopped? I would greatly appreciate any other information you can provide regarding this problem.

Thanks to everyoen who responded regarding the bruising. I feel better knowing that it is normal. I had the surgery exactly onew eek ago today and my stomach area is still sore and I am still taking the pain medicine.

Hi, I have been reading messages, but this is my first sent message. I had lapband surgery on March 10 also with a hernia repair. My question is for others who recently had surgery combined with hernia repair. Do you have a large bruise on your stomach below the major incision for the lapband?
