Vitamin Patches from Bariatric Pal question

I ordered the Patches a few days ago for the first time. Per the site you can wear them all together, night or day, for 12hrs. The B12 has the potential to cause energy boost that can keep you up at night though. I plan to wear them during the day under my bra and rotate sites. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tired

I had my surgery 9/27 - feel your pain! I'm exhausted and want to sleep all the time. My doc said its normal for now. I just ordered my Vitamin Patches (don't want to chew and swallow them). Looking forward to energy boost from B12 patch! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Low Iron Woes

Try Iron Patches. Also you can't take iron and Calcium within a few hrs of each other. B12 patch would give an energy boost too Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. LouLou, I have never been a binge eater. But I've LOVED to eat. Growing up in New Orleans, life kinda revolves around good food. I had to reprogram my mind to look at food as nourishment and not pleasure. Realizing that I ate when I was sad, happy, bored, celebrating was a revelation. Turning your focus to your new goals is so important! I'd want to go get a couple of donuts and force myself to keep driving and pass it up. The success of not cheating made me proud and feel empowered until it stuck. This was all with my band. I had problems with it and converted to RNY on 9/27. So I'm back at it new again. But I like the idea that now I have the fear of dumping syndrome to keep me from sweets and fatty/fried foods. Best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tummy sleeper and surgery

Start to practice side sleeping now. I'd get a body pillow to hug so your tummy is against something. If you "train" yourself now, it should help Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. My doc says when in doubt, eat nothing more than the size of the palm of your hand (not including fingers). That's what I used successfully with my band. Just converted to RNY last week, so still on liquids at present. Also, always go with less and give your body time to feel full. Best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Supplements

I suggest getting chewable Vitamins or try Vitamin Patches. Patches are awesome, nothing to swallow! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stomach Issues

Several possible things - have you talked w/ MD about possible hiatal hernia. The gurgle can come from the flap of skin that closes of your esophagus not closing right. Second, Carafate and Protonix together can eliminate the acid reflux and make the burning stop Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hospital Stay

My revision was overnight stay. Insurance approved 3-4 days. But I did great and wanted to be in my own bed. Oh, and the band removal and RNY was all one surgery. Took 2 hrs. 5 laparoscopic incisions. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    These pills

Hi ladies, I'm only 10 days post-op, so a newbie. But I've heard awesome reviews about Vitamin patches! I ordered them yesterday. About $70/ month and no more pikas or chewing chalk. I wish you luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Eating pizza after surgery

I'm sure the temptation to try pizza would be strong at a party w/ just pizza. But your chances of having dumping just from the pepperoni, cheese & grease should be considered. It could ruin your entire night. Maybe eat right before you go & bring a back up snack in case you feel you need to eat something later. There will be situations for all of us where we are challenged to make healthy choices. But what I think will surely motivate me big time is fear of dumping!!! Ughhh! Good luck! Starting to worry

Call your doc. Possible to develop a fistula between pouch and old stomach which causes these symptoms. I'm not trying to upset you. I'm just an RN & well educated on these things. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. For your liquid beverage you could try Atkins LIFT. 20gm protein/bottle. I add raspberry tea to it to boost flavor. My dietician recommend it. I'm 9 days post-op too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Have you been scoped to check for Barrett's Esophagus? My suggestion would be liquid Carafate 1hr before meals or 4x/day. This coats all of those membranes to promote healing. Also, Pantoprazole which decreases acid produced in the stomach. If surgeries aren't working, medical management seems necessary. Finally, are you adhering to ounces allowed at meals? If too much consumed, reflux can occur. Best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I dumped for the first time!

That's not actually dumping. What happened was the fish did not successfully make it into your pouch most likely. The inlet to the pouch is only about 1cm. Bites should be the size of an eraser. Also suggested to eat with an oyster fork (tiny fork) to force tiny bites. Best of luck in the future! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. You are eating regular foods too soon post-op. Grits are a big NO w/ bypass surgery. Fruits and eggs are not for a few more weeks. If your doctor didn't give you materials outlining what you can eat when, you could cause ulcers in your pouch or cause damage! I bought a book back before the procedure - a guide to eating after weight loss surgery for dummies. It has been very helpful! But my Doctor & dietician gave week by week lists of what could be eaten too. Good luck! A Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Surgery was 9/27 for me too. Had lapband removal & bypass done. Though I had hiatal hernia repair done in 2008 w/ band, have had a lot of issues w/ acid reflux and spasms at the junction where the stomach pouch & intestine attach. With several new meds, it's helped. Still on Clear Liquids 4 more days though due to the issues. I'm happy that my issues have been minimal. Had nausea and certainly gas pain, but no vomiting so far! 9/27 - 240 10/6 - 219 (I'm 5' 5.5") Excited with progress! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
