I develoloped a seroma 4 weeks out as well. Mine actually began to drain on its own. The Dr opened it on up to begin healing from the inside out. 4 weeks later Im still open at it has tracked like a tunnel over to my port. We are working very hard to keep the port from becoming infected. If that happens the port has to come out. Im taking levaquin and packing the wound with gauze. Not to comfy but whatever it takes right. Im still hoping for the best. Hope your situation is Ok as well.

Please give any advice. I was banded on April 3. Four weeks later a seroma formed under my port incision. It began to drain, As it did that a small hole formed. Went to general Doctor, he opened it on up so it could begin to heal from the inside out. Well....Its been 4 more weeks. Not only is the wound still open but it is traking toward my port. They are calling it a non-healing wound. There doesnt seem to be infection right now but I am scared. Dr. Rumbaut, in Mexico did my surgery so I am having to find a Dr here in GA. that specializes in Bariatrics. Anyone who has experienced this please post and share your story with me.

thanks for the encouragment losing. it sounds like yours is a bit more progressed than mine. so far there is no sign of infection......odor, puss. i will see Dr. Ponce in Dalton Ga on Monday. until then i am staying on antibiotics. when I get to him he will most likely open it up a little more and get all the dead tissue out. its called debreedinghe wound, and then put it all back together. i am hopeing for the best. good luck as well with your infection. it is very discouraging i know....not to mention scary. Healing w/ toddlers in house -lifting
bthin4me replied to stef123633's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have two boys, one almost 3 and one almost 4. I am a sahm also. My sis and I were banded together and she has small ones also. Our Dr said that afew days for her would be fine befor lifting and 4weeks for me due to a hernia repair (i didnt know i had) during surgery. I think as long as you get down to your childrens level and use your legs to come up you will be fine. What hurts the most is when they are kinda sitting on your hip and feet or knees are bumping into your incisions. You know yourself the best so just take it easy. Good luck -
Did not mean to offend or gross out anyone. Just letting you know to be very careful with yourself til your completly healed! And yes.......wait til your married *hearts*! My DH and I are working on our 10th year together and the whole "ew" thing got us four beautiful kids! Good luck all!

Banded April3rd. I did it 5 days out. All was fine.....being very careful and slow with things. Then 2 nights ago he decided to try and put my legs in places I now know should not be for a while. I jerked up in great pain saying that was not gonna work....duh! I am so sore and tender in my port arrea that it isnt funny. Its scary actually. Needless to say the "shop" has closed down till my belly feels better. My advice to all is to be really slow in your movements.

HI! Not sure what your situation is, but I will share mine. Im a wife, mother, sister and daughter. I am overweight and unhappy! I want to be able to be active for my kids and sexy for my husband and of course improve my self-esteam....alot! So when you ask if its worth spending the money on yourself......I say YESYESYES! It is a very small price to pay for your health, physically and mentally. I actually went and got a loan from the bank so my pymnts are not so bad! I also went to Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey Mexico so the cost was much less there! I hope all goes well with you journey.

Banded two years; Going on Nutri-System
bthin4me replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nutri-system food is...well....NNAAASSSTTAAYYYY! We are overweight due in part to our love of food. It was very hard for me (someone who loves taste) to even half way enjoy the food. After I spent $300 on there food I ended up basically living on salads, which added to the "bill"! There are people that are successful with it but I would like to know what they do to the food to make it tolerable on a daily basis. I would get to the Dr and do just a eeny-weeny fill. Go on liquids after to let your tummy settle then on to mushies! Good luck! -
My weight loss is hurting my sister
bthin4me replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My sister and I are both overweight. Growing up she was always the bigger one. And now in adult hood and after four kids each and horrible eating habits, I am larger. A few months back we decided to get banded together. So on April 3rd thats just what we did. It is wonderful to be going through the same thing together. We can talk about it and definatly look to one another for support. I am hoping that through this process neither one of us has set backs or looses quiker than the other because I could definatly see where some jealousy could slip. I hope all of us can continue to do well in our journey as well as with friends and family! -
Is it possible to have restriction without fills?
bthin4me replied to LiseSeattle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Can you give advice for fills. Dr.Rumbaut is doing my surgery and I will go back there for my first fill, but Im thinking that I cant possibly go everytime I need an adjustment. So my question would be for the people who went to Mexico for the proceedure....and need fills in the USA. Ive heard good and bad things about the fill centers????? -
Negative people with negative feelings
bthin4me replied to eigna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Luckily my sister and I are getting banded together. We decided that the world would be off kilter if one was loosing and not the other. I feel blessed to have her by my side for the support. Our dad on the other hand isnt so tickled with the idea. Did I mention we are going to Monterrey Mexico for the surgery. That concerns him more than anything else. And our mom is still waiting to hear from the "man upstairs" to decide how she feels. And of course then there is the friend who is not AT ALL supporting the idea. What Im trying to say is this.....if heinsight was 20/20........not a single soul would know except our hubbys! So all in all you must trust your instincts. Generally people who have never been MO or SO truly cant understand the devistating ramifications of being.....well...fat! You loose who you once were. And thats really all I want, is to look on the outside how I still feel on the inside! I say "phoo on the naysayers"! Goodluck to us all!! -
My advice is to get married to your computer and read as much as you can. When I found this web site my hubby though I was "online chatting" if you get my drift...hehehe! I am addicted to reading all I can here on this site. Its answered pretty much all my questions. I am getting banded on the 3rd as well so I wish you all the luck!

Anyone used Dr Ricardo Kelly?
bthin4me replied to QuincyGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi. I am getting banded on the 3rd of April by Dr.Rumbaut in Monterrey Mexico. In the beggining I was the same as most folks about the whole "Mexico" thing. But after doing much research I am at total peace with it. It has alot to do with the choice of Doctor. He has been doing it for 15+ yrs and was a part of the FDA trials here in America. He is an inovator where the LAPBAND is concerned. OK, Im starting to sound like a commercial. My point is, I think it is well worth the little bit of extra money to have someone you trust and can research successfully do your surgery. Whomever you pick, be comfortable with it. Ussually if you have gut feeling about something you should go with it. Cheaper is not always better, especially where your health is concerned. Research the "Obesity Surgery Center" in Monterrey Mexico. Good luck!! -
I have to be on liquids only 3days. I asked why and from what I understand it has to do with your BMI. The lower it is the less time for liquids and of course the higher your BMI is the longer you have to be on liquids befor your surgery. They said that the reason for the liquid diet is so that your liver will shrink from its enlarged state to make more room for your surgeon to move around "in there". Hope this helps, good luck

GNC asked me & I dont know....
bthin4me replied to LynneB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Biotin is a great supplement to prevent hair loss. I started taking it 2months ago because I started shedding. My mom has a natural healing book that has a natural remedy for almost everything and it said it helps. I would say that it would be a great addition to what you are already doing. -

Feelings about being FAT.
bthin4me replied to staindgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
staind~do you have feelings like, if I dont look in the mirror I can think and try to believe that I look on the outside how I feel on the inside. Thats how I am. I trick myself into thinking if I cant see myself (god forbid a picture) then I can just pretend that I look the way I feel? Does that make any since. Because I still think of myself the way I used to be...ya know....smaller and only when I truly look at myself or the dreaded picture am I reminded that, that is not who I am. It is so sad. I am getting the band on the 3rd of April and I have decided to put all the crazy confusing thoughts out of my head and instead I have a mental picture in my head of what I want to become, not what I actually am. Thats all I see....the future. And when I have weak moments....I start picturing the future. I hope some of this made since and helps. We are all here for the same thing....support! ~good luck~ -
Thank you so much for the kind words and advice. I will take it seriously and remember that what works for one may not work for all. I will however continue to come here (alot) for the support. My sis and I are going through this together so thankfully we will be able to understand and help each other. ~good luck all~

Ok so I dont have a confession, Heck I dont even have my band yet. (getting it on the 3rd of April) I am however reading everything on this sight that I possibly can and this particular issue is one that concerns me. The first week everyone says you arent hungery so you really dont feel anything. But the second week your hunger comes back with a vengance! That scares me and reading all this conferms my fears. I am hoping however, that with all the support from all these people who are in the same boat will help me stay strong. I to am an emotional eater. I think food is for EVERY occasion in life. I just pray that I will make it through the first 6weeks. Good luck to everyone....

HI! Im in Byron,GA. My sister and I will be going to Monterrey Mexico for our surgery. Dr. Rumbaut is doing it. We are self pay. Ive done alot of research and feel really good about our choice. I tell ya...Im more nervous of the thought of no food than I am of the actual surgery. But from what everyone says you can drink a little water and feel like you just had Thanksgiving supper. Anyway, if you have any advice or just want to chat...lets do it.

I have operation soon
bthin4me replied to helsybelsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! Im getting the band April 4. I live in GA but I am going to Monterrey Mexico To have Dr. Rumbaut do it. My sister and I are going to get the proceedure done together. Im a bit nervous but very excited to. My Dr says with my BMI (which is 38) I will have to be on clear liquids for only 3 days prior to my surgery. They also said the surgery itself will only take 45 minutes or so. If I remeber correctly. I have been reading alot of info on this and the more I read the more compfortable I am getting. There is a befor and after pix section here on this web site that you can see a ladys belly and the scars are minimal. Hope all goes well for us. Lets keep in touch.
