    Gallbladder pain?

I had horrendous pain in the area of my stomach between my ribcage, radiating across the righthand side and into my back. It hurt it breathe deeply and could last hours. I would sleep upright if it occurred during the night. I would also vomit- food that had been eaten hours before and always lots of bile. Because I was a newly banded person, I assumed my food was stuck and let this go on for about 9 months before the attacks came thick and fast, alerting my physician (who had seen me during attacks but assumed I was eating the wrong things and not chewing enough). An ultrasound showed a gallbladder chock full of stones. I had my gallbladder out about 3 weeks later.
  2. I was banded in 2012 and almost immediately back on solids developed gallbladder problems. Unfortunately for me they went undiagnosed for just shy of a year. I was having weekly attacks, sometimes the 2 or 3 times a week. In the end I had it removed and it was the best thing for me. Sadly, my band needed unfilling for the surgery and has never quite been the same since. I'm being revised to a sleeve in a few weeks time!
  3. Love these! Higher in protein than crackers too as they're usually made with chickpea flour
  4. I'm getting a revision on January 10th, starting the pre-op diet on the 27th December. I've got a few parties and NYE celebrations to circumnavigate... my pre-op diet allows 2 shakes, Optifast or similar, plus 1 meal of allowed veg (no corn, potatoes, pumpkin etc) and a palm-sized piece of lean meat. I'm planning on eating that allowed meal at lunch when socialising, and having the shake for dinner. Good luck!

    Boobs! [emoji523]

I went from a G cup to a C cup when I had my band put in... they're a bit sad now but honestly my shoulders are much happier!

    Gallbladder

I had my gallbladder out 9 months after my band. I tolerate everything except deep fried foods... had a tapas meal with friends that was mostly fried and was so unwell and uncomfortable for the night. It passed and I made a note to avoid fatty fried foods!

    Telling family/friends?

Totally agree... my in laws would be the worst ever. They've been kept well out of the loop.

    Telling family/friends?

I'm keeping my revision from band to sleeve a secret from everyone except my husband and immediate family. Only my best friends and family knew about my band, and most of them didn't really understand, that's why my sleeve is remaining hush hush.
  9. I heard somewhere that super stinky poo means you're losing weight... my sister is tiny and hers are just horrendous! Maybe it's true?!

    Vitamin D low pre-op testing

I also have low Vit D levels. My health team put me on tablets and advised me to get 20 minutes of unfiltered sunlight twice a week. I drive home with my window open and arm in the sun. There was no mention of delaying my surgery because of the low levels.

    Perth Sleevers?

I'm from Perth too! Banded in November 2011 by Dr Dolan. Had a horrendous time with my gallbladder before it finally (9 months of sometimes daily attacks) being diagnosed and removed in August 2012. Never got back to the green zone after a total unfill for the surgery. Decided to peruse my options and am beginning the process with Dr Taylor at Western Surgical at Hollywood Hospital. Hoping to be converted from band to sleeve in January. ☺
  12. You look amazing. Congratulations! ????
  13. I work with a lady who is 6 years sleeved and still within 5kg of her goal weight. She eats well and enjoys the occasional alcoholic drink but really has a balanced life. She uses optifast to help get her back on track if she finds herself gaining weight.
  14. I had my band surgery in November 2012. It was great to start with, and I had great restriction and good weight loss, but upset my gallbladder. I was having sometimes daily attacks and we didn't know what was going on. I thought I was experiencing a "stuck" moment, but after 9 months of back and forth for fills and unfills and my surgeon not really sure what was going on his associate sent me for an ultrasound. It showed so many stones... i was scheduled for its removal and had to have all my fill out for the op. And that was where my weightloss started to stall. In the 2 years after that I've lost only 10kg and struggle with being too restricted or not restricted enough. I'm just tired of not losing my weight and that the band isn't really working for me the way it should. I'm looking into getting a band to sleeve revision in January 2017.
  15. Wow- you are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your journey ☺

    New sleever/General Questions

In relation to your first question - you need to rest to recover... being sleepy is a side effect of the anaesthetic and the pain meds... rest and recover!

    I hate optifast!

I can't stand the chocolate or vanilla Optifast, but quite like the strawberry, coffee and banana ones! Mixed with ice cold Water they're quite palatable! Sent from my SM-G900I using the BariatricPal App
  18. I'm a confectioner, so can totally relate... I'm banded at the moment but hope to be converted to a Sleeve in the next few months. It is hard, being surrounded by sweets and needing to know they're up to scratch, but I don't eat nearly as much as I used to and hope that only gets better with my sleeve.
