    please help: my first blockage

our doc says that grapefruit juice helps
  3. there are some hoops that most insurance companys have you jump through, and there are several that your Dr, asks for too. I wasnt just being nosey, i was just wondering if you was using the same one I did. See if you dr. has any seminars, or classes to attend.....very informative and they will guide you step by step.

    Just Banded and Confused

my understanding is that there is some restriction there, but very little. and this is due to you stomach being swollen from surgery. Should something go down that isnt suppose to and possibly gets stuck, there is nothing that can be done at this point to unstick, since there is no fluid in your band. Kinda does seem like punichment, but it is for our own good. if you had surgery the 12 of dec, you should be eating normal foods by now.

19 m, banded just days ago and really confused

for the first 5 days it was recommended to me to be on straight liquids. Broth, jello, tea, coffee, water, crystal light, all the water flavors. But to stay away from the milk laiden drinks until the gas pain had gone away. then creamed or blended soups,,can be added as well as all the original liquids, then at day 15 adding soft foods.....which is where I am now, and have lost 29 pounds in 17 days. Whew, makes me tired just remembering the liquids!
  6. have you got insurance? and what Dr. are you using?

    Arkansas Bansters!!!

surgery 17 days ago. Hello real food. I am still rather weak from the liquids and the big incision. Im just not the old Mare I use to be. I have lost 29 pounds as of this morning. I am sure some of that to come back when I do get familiar with food again, and before a real fill. Doc said im rather tight already from all the surrounding scar tissue. I am trying my luck at a diet coke over ice. That is the only way we can have them,,,that way they are flat somewhat. Two sips and it doesnt taste like i remember. Oh well, i bet it will comeback to me. I got out today for the first time to go to church. Im a little pooped, but I plan to return to work tomorrow, so i better get in the saddle

Tomorrow I will go for a group support meeting with others that are at this same stage. Maybe they will give us a steak to knaw on during the meeting.....

Best Dr. in Little Rock area?

Think about that Greg. I dont want to lead you astray, but just think about that. There is so much more than getting the Band installed. There is education and followup and AVAILABILITY.Something just doesnt smell right about that set up.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

let me share my take on this, I was banded on the 16th 09...My thinking is that when you eat that popsicle or eat that jello, you arent eating a meal,,,and all the water you are sipping in between and during this time is just counted at survival and hydration. i think we just arent eating anything but liquids and that doesnt make a meal,,,,not im my book...good luck to you mary

Blue Cross Blue Shield True Blue PPO

I just want to update a little about my insurance. The approval came in less than 24 hours. That is the Blue Cross Blue Shield True Blue PPO. I was amazed. But let me tell ya, the Hospital has been in a stupor on the $15,000 Cap. That seems to have just blown everybody out of the water. How to charge? patient paying? has insurance? I am 1 week out from surgery, so we shall see how the finances come out. I do hope i have paid all I have to cause there aint no more!
  16. I am hoping to find someone that has had their surgery covered by this insurance. I will be changing to this plan in Dec. and I just want encouragement that it will HAPPEN.,.,.,.,.,.,approval that is.!

    liquid diet

This morning is my first morning to get up and just feel like I cant take another liquid anything. I did get down coffee and a popsicle. I dont know if im feeling hunger or just sore from the surgery. With this huge incision i have im sure my feelings are a little different than most. It is hard to hear and listen to my own body when there is still surgery pain. I could go for a good steak right now. I too woke up to no loss this morning,,,,,hummmm, now that is a change. Are you still taking the Milk of Mag? I am, just a swig every other day. I know there is nothing in there to make a stool, but i sure couldnt deal with one if i had one..Sorry,,,,I dont know where that came from.

    liquid diet

WOW where did the first week go? I just knew this would be the hard part, being creative with liquids. What I have done is get the favorites and stick with them. I think my Dr. Kinda put me over in to week two when he told me to blend up "to liquid state", soups. That opens a big new world there. It has been zero problem this week with food. Bottom line you arent hungry either. Tomatoe soup is good good good.. I am having my 8 day anniversary today and i got out for the first time. I really did alot of walking that before surgery was not as easy. I have lost 11 pounds since surgery and i really think that has even helped some. My feet are asking,,hey who is that up there???? I am so excited about the future.. I want to be healthy and happy about my self. Blessings to you all. Mary Jacksonville Arkansas Dr. Clay Wellborn, surgery date 1-16-2009

    Christian bandsters

thanks for such a wonderful and inspiring post. I am one week out from surgery, love Jesus with all my Heart. im feeling the Post surgery blues at times. I know that the surgery can throw ya for a loop. I wasnt able to get it done laprascolically, so the large incision was the big hurdle i have to get over. 9.5 inches long I have had 2 open proceedures there from the same hole and there was just so much scar tissue,,he couldnt do the small incisions and get around in there. I am home and all is fine,. Thanks again for the great post. Mary almost forgot,,,,,,lost 12 pounds!
